1 SOMERSET CENTRE NEWS LETTER BELGIUM (jabbeke) Hello and welcome to my newsletter It was nice to see so many caravans and motor homes on a foreign rally 29 units in total, Every one arrived safely even after the storm on Sunday and Monday Oostende was about 20 minutes away for a big shopping town, Bruges was about 20 minutes away With push bikes everywhere and the had the right of way over cars and most other things, There were lots of shops selling chocolate an all different shapes and sizes also quite a few restaurants & various other shops, If you got fed up with shopping you could take a trip on a boat or horse & carriage, On Wednesday there was a coach trip you were picked up at 10:00 just outside the barriers and taken to the chocolate factory for a tour around then on to the trenches of death followed by Tyne Cot cemetery and Menin gate service which is held every night On a evening they opened a room up with a bar especially for us where we met up in most nights for bingo / quizzes and socialising and of course Halloween with decorated room and buy one drink get one free for a hour served by Gink and his helpers I would like to thank Chris Gill from Birmingham for entertaining us on Thursday evening with his banjo - guitar and singing voice

2 Thanks to everyone who helped to make it a good rally GLASTONBURY CARNIVAL Glastonbury rally was another fantastic event this year held at our new location Glastonbury Football Club 5 mins walk from the procession route. The weather held out for the weekend and a great time was had by all. We had 7 visiting centres as far a field from Devon & Cornwall and North Wales. For more info on this year s rally please visit our web site. VALENTINE RALLY After a wet and windy journey every one arrived safe at Keinton Mandeville for a weekend of romance. On Friday evening we met up in the hall for some drinks and a picture quiz. Saturday after 2pm you could start to decorate your table as there was a prize for the best dressed table which was one by Mr & Mrs Haskins Mr & Mrs Davey and Mr & Mrs Lenton

3 At 6:30 the jacket potatoes were served with a choice of fillings followed by Dave s disco to take us on into the late evening. The picture quiz was won by Carol Hiscox & the valentine quiz was one by Kim & John Dyer. 20 units booked onto the rally NORTHAM FARM What a good rally it was with 78 units on the rally field nice to see so many Friday was a cold a and blustery day with occasional shower's most people after arriving seemed to be staying in there caravans in the warm but the seagull pub was open for anyone who fancied it. On Saturday the sun came out one of the warmest days of the year so far there was a good opportunity to have a look at some new caravan's and enjoy a pig roll or just sit outside and enjoy the sun

4 Later on in the day a few of us went up to the seagull for a meal and to dance the night away to UNION GAP playing 60s music On Sunday at flag we had managed to raise for the centre charity PETAL by selling raffle tickets to win a bottle of whisky which was won by Marie Bown, guess the football team name made another 15 and was won by John Friend with the team name Bolton, Aaron & Joanne Merry won the competition and the booby prize went to Kim dyer Thanks to everyone who has had a input on this news letter If anyone would like to add anything to the newsletter please it to me from the web site. The newsletter is available from the web site to read or download or from any committee member to read How do you get a Pikey to take a bath?, Leave it in your front garden. A Mexican stuntman died while making a film, at the funeral his mother approached the director and said, "Jesus died for your scenes." My mate went a bit off the rails when he was younger, Which is probably why he s no longer a train driver? With all this rubbish on the TV these days, I think it's about time our parrot went back in its cage. A dog walker was found dead in the local park, police found the dog, but as yet, they have no lead. What's red and bad for your teeth? A brick..
