Dear Parents, We re getting very excited about our Annual Concert on the Saturday 29th of November at the St Peters Lutheran College Performing Arts Centre. This newsletter has all the information you need for the concert, including times for dress rehearsal and concert days, information on ticketing, DVDs and much more! We know this concert will be a fantastic experience for all our kids, and we can t wait to see all our confident little people performing on stage. 2 Dress and Technical Rehearsal - 22nd November, 2014 All students are required to attend the dress rehearsal for their show at the allocated time. Students may leave the rehearsal once their class has finished rehearsing, and must be signed out by an authorised parent or guardian. The rehearsal will run as per the program on page 5. There will be an air conditioned waiting area for parents within the foyer, and you are welcome to wait, or return after the rehearsal. 9am: 10am - 12: Performance group 1 required at theatre Performance group 1 rehearsal 11.30am Performance group 2 required at theatre : Performance group 2 rehearsal Concert - 29th November, 2014 All students are required to be at the theatre one hour before their show, and are required to stay until the end of the show to perform in the finale. 9am sharp: 9.30am: 10am am: Performance group 1 required at theatre Doors open for performance group 1concert Performance group 1concert 11.30am sharp: Performance group 2 required at theatre 12noon: Doors open for performance group 2 concert pm : Performance group 2 concert Backstage Procedures On both dress rehearsal and concert days, students will be signed in by a parent or guardian as they arrive at the theatre, and directed to their designated dressing room. Students will not be permitted to leave the theatre until they have been signed out by an authorised parent or guardian. You can let us know who will be picking up your child when you sign them in. No parents will be allowed backstage, except for pre-organised parent volunteers. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to be a backstage helper. On the dress rehearsal day, students will be allowed to leave once their group has finished rehearsing. On concert day, students are required to stay until the end of the show to perform in the finale. Students should bring a water bottle with them back stage and all belongings should be clearly labelled. Tuesday, 4 November Page 2

3 Hair, Makeup and Facepaint Hair is expected to be neat and off the face. Girls hair should be brushed, tied in low pigtails and plaited if possible. If hair is too short to tie, it should be pinned back neatly. Low pigtails will allow our various costume hats and ears to fit over the head. Boys hair should be combed neatly. Students are not expected to wear any makeup, but are welcome to, if they wish to do so. Appropriate makeup includes, foundation, pink blush, bright red or pink lipstick, brown eye shadow, and mascara. We will have a professional face painter backstage on concert day, and will be painting some student s faces as part of their costume (pigs, crocodiles, wolves, etc.) Please let us know if your child is not able to wear face-paint, and we will arrange and alternative. Costumes Students will be performing pantomime-style, in all black with cloaks, capes, hats, wigs and other fabulous costume items worn over the top to create their character. Students will be given a black Speak Up Studio t-shirt, which is theirs to keep after the concert. All students will perform barefoot. Students are required to wear black pants or tights (at least knee length) on both dress rehearsal and concert days. These are available at Kmart for less than $10. Students will be provided with costumes backstage, which are to be returned before they leave the theatre. Parent Helpers We are currently recruiting parent helpers to assist at both the dress rehearsal, and the performance that their children are not performing in. For example, if your child is in the 10am show, you will help backstage for the 12.30pm show and vice versa. In return, we will provide you with a ticket to watch your child/children s show. Helpers will assist us with, signing kids in and out of the backstage area, moving kids from dressing room to back stage and back again, assisting with costumes, selling tickets and various other jobs. DVD s and Photos A professional DVD of the concert will be available to purchase for $22.

We will have a fun photo booth set up back stage (a simple back drop, lots of silly props, and a photographer with a fancy camera!

Tickets will cost $11 for adults and $5.50 for school aged children. Children under 4, who do not require a seat do not need to purchase a ticket. Ticket prices include GST. DVD s and Photos A professional DVD of the concert will be available to purchase for $22. DVD are now available to purchase via the Speak Up Studio website or by using the order form located at the end of this document. Each of our classes will be given a chance to have their photo taken in this setting. These photos will be provided for free via our website after the concert. Flash photography is not permitted during the concert as it interferes with the professional video Venue The Performing Arts Centre is located within St Peters Lutheran College, at 66 Harts Rd, Indooroopilly. Parking is available on the school grounds, and a map of the school is provided at the end of this document. This professional theatre environment will give our children the opportunity to experience a real stage production with changing lights, hanging microphones and a big velvety curtain.
