1 Ysgol Friars Newsletter k Ysgol Friars welcomes Sir David Brailsford Year 11 Students meet an Olympic Coaching Legend Sir David, is credited with being the major influence behind British Cycling - having overseen the numerous achievements of British cyclists from Sir Bradley Wiggins, Geriant Thomas and Victoria Pendleton, to name but three. Ensuring that Team GB finished atop the medal table for cycling at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games as well as developing his role as Team Sky manager since 2010, during which time both Sir Bradley Wiggins (2011) and Chris Froome (2012 and 2014), have won the Tour De France. He is credited with championing a philosophy called Best attendance raffle winners- Keep it up Millie, Brandon and Harriet! As Sir David discussed with Year 11, The whole principle came from the idea that if you broke down everything you could think of that goes into riding a bike, and then improved it by 1%, you will get a significant increase when you put them all together".
