The dancers have been working hard and can hardly wait to perform for their family and friends. Our recitals will be held on Sunday, March 31st at Loch Raven High School. This year the dance program has approximately 550 registrations in 49 classes. Because of our size, we will have 2 separate recital performances at 12pm and 4pm. We ask that you read this newsletter in FULL as it has lots of important information. Please have your dancer s hair, make up and all costume pieces ready prior to each rehearsal/ recital. We will NOT wait for dancers who are late. All dancers should arrive wearing their costume; hair should be pulled up off their shoulders as much as possible, in a bun. Please label everything and place in a brown paper grocery bag with your dancer s name on it. All accessories will be handed out on Picture/ Tech Day. Last minute adjustments of straps and hair accessories will take place at this time. Remember, no underwear under the tights, panty liners are sewn into the dance tights to avoid underwear showing through. Older dancers should wear a nude leotard under their costumes in place of ALL undergarments. At the end of the recital, during the finale, families will have the opportunity to present their dancer with flowers and take pictures to celebrate a great performance. You may pre-order your flowers from Blue Sage Florist Flowers will be available for pick-up prior to each performance. Due to the size of our program we will NOT wait for those who are running late. Please allow yourself time. We highly recommend arriving early!

2 2 Picture Day March 23rd Loch Raven High School A professional photographer will be present to take both a class picture as well as individual pictures. ALL dancers are required to participate in the group picture. Individual pictures are upon purchase. PLEASE NOTE: Due to size, parents will NOT be permitted in the photography section. Please have your order form filled out prior to your arrival. 3 CREATIVE MOVEMENT IN-STUDIO RECITAL INFORMATION This portion is only for the Sunday, 12:45 & Wednesday 2:30 classes. Both creative movement classes will have a small in-studio recital! (Located at: Jacksonville Elementary School). Please have your dancer s hair and all costume pieces ready for this day. We will NOT wait for dancers who re late. The performance will begin promptly at the start of your scheduled class time and end with a mini reception. You do NOT need to attend the dress rehearsal (March 30 th ) or BIG recitals (March 31 st ) at Loch Raven High School. We do ask that you attend picture day (March 23 rd ). 4 4 PLEASE NOTE: Friends & Family are NOT permitted backstage. We kindly ask that class moms remain in the balcony (please visit signup for more details). Please Note: Only dancers and dance staff will be permitted back stage. CLASS MOMS NEEDED! Dress Rehearsal Saturday, March 30 th Loch Raven High School DRESS REHEARSAL TIMES The 12pm show will rehearse from: 2:30-5:30pm The 4pm show will rehearse from: 9:30am-12:30pm Dancers should arrive 15mins before their scheduled time, and report directly to the auditorium balcony. WHAT TO WEAR? All dancers should bring their dance belongings in a brown paper bag with their name clearly written on it. All items inside their bag should be labeled with their name. Dancers who take one class: Should wear their costume leotard - no other costume pieces are required for this rehearsal. Dancers who take multiple classes: Should bring ALL costumes however no accessories are needed. All dancers should have their hair pulled up in a neat bun. Make-up is not required but recommended. We need two-three class moms to chaperone each class. You will be responsible to help change dancer s shoes and accessories in between numbers and chaperone dancers while in the auditorium balcony. You will not miss your child performance! If you re interested in helping please visit: 084EA9AE28A1FF2-class We will practice our finale first, and then go through the show in recital order. Once your child has performed all his/her dance routines they re free to leave.

5 There is no charge to attend our recital. All seats are based on a first come, first serve policy. Dancers should arrive a half hour before their scheduled show. They should report directly to the auditorium balcony (dressing room area). If you re in the 4pm show- Please do NOT arrive any earlier than 30mins (parking is VERY limited). This information is very helpful and will guide you through everything. FINALE INFORMATION!!! At the end of the recital, during the finale, families will have the opportunity to present their dancer with flowers and take pictures to celebrate a great performance. We kindly request that only ONE family member come to the stage area as space is limited. Dancers with multiple costumes are recommended to purchase a nude leotard to wear under their costume. 7 7 HOW TO MAKE A BUN! Dancers hair should be pulled up off their shoulders as much as possible, in a bun. *NO BANGS* Hair by Sylvia Sylvia will be available to style your dancers hair in a bun for $7 (price includes hair net). 8 8 Stop by the Studio on from 9:30am 10am This is the perfect time to learn you need to know about our upcoming Rehearsals & Recitals. PLEASE NOTE: Carroll Manor Dance Studio is NOT responsible for lost or damanged costumes once in our dancers possession. 1.) MOST IMPORTANT TIP: HANG YOUR COSTUME UP! Tutus should be hung upside down to help add that special fluff! 2.) PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING WITH YOUR NAME Put your name on ALL of your costume pieces (Shoes and accessories should be labeled too.) 3.) GET THOSE WRINKLES OUT! Hang your costume up and place on the back of your bathroom door. The steam from your shower will help with the wrinkles. Do this now to avoid a wrinkled costume for pictures and the recital. 4.) RELIEVE THE ITCHINESS!!! This may sound crazy but spray cheap aerosole hairspray on the glitter and/or sequin portion. This will create a extra layer to help when touching the dancers skin. You can also use a product like Band-Aid Friction Stick. It will create a silicone layer. 5.) NO UNDERGARMENTS!!! Do you require undergarments under your costumes? If so, you should purchase a nude leotard as NO UNDERGARMENTS are to be worn under costumes (with the exception of tights). Remember dance tights have a panty liner sewn into them.
