3 1 RECRUIT One of the keys to successful recruitment is making a goal and creating a plan to reach it. I will recruit # team members Selecting a co-captain and a team committee is just one way to assist in organizing and motivating your team. The people you have chosen are: I have publicized my team through brochures, posters, newsletters, and word of mouth. I have made a list of possible team members and personally asked each individual to join my team. I have encouraged every team member to recruit at least one new person to join our team. I have set a date for out recruitment event and asked the chapter to send a representative. I have a corporate team and have secured support from my company s top executives. Team Week!! Please join me in celebrating Team Week, July 14-18, Every day of the week, something new and exciting will be planned to motivate you to recruit team members for the 2008 MS Bike Ride.

4 2 FUNDRAISE I have asked my team members if their companies have a matching gifts program. If so, I have encouraged them to ask their co-workers to donate to them and request matching funds. I have asked my corporation or organization to make a donation to our team. 5 3 MOTIVATE Bike MS Team: A group organized to work together to end the devastating effects of MS. Are you riding for someone living with MS? Champions Against MS is for you... Personalizing the cause is a great way to motivate people to support your team. Dedicating your efforts to someone with MS (your Champion) will have a profound impact, giving you and your Champion greater hope and reassurance that no one is alone in the fight against MS. Raise $2500 in one month! Have a pizza party - Sell slices of pizza to your co-workers for $3 to $5. If your company orders frequently from one restaurant, see if they will donate or discount your purchase. Have Penny Wars - See who can collect the most in gallon water jugs. At a staff meeting, do a 50/50 raffle. 50% of the proceeds goes to the team total, and 50% goes to the winner. Partner with a local restaurant to donate a percentage of one night s dinner checks to the team and National MS Society. Have a Jeans Day - For $10, your co-workers may wear jeans to work one day. I have set team fundraising and recruitment goals. I have shared these goals with my team members. I am riding for someone with MS. I have organized team contests to promote more fundraising and fun within my team: Who can raise the most money in one week? Who received the largestdonation? Who can recruit the most riders for the team? Sacrifice yourself for your team! If your team reaches your goal within a selected timeline, as the team captain, you can offer to do one of the following: Shave your head Dye your hair Kiss a pig A stunt suggested by one of your loyal team members Just keep reminding yourself it is all for a good cause!

6 4 ORGANIZE Vision without action is a daydream. Action without a vision is a nightmare. - Japanese Proverb I have welcomed each team member as he or she joined my team. I have informed team members of our team fundraising and recruitment goals. I have selected a meeting location for my team members to gather before and after thebike MS ride. I have selected a team photo time and made sure all of my team members know of the time and location. I have made a team sign for our team photo. I have divided all the funds that were donated to our team and let the MS Society know how much each team member should receive. I have contacted each team member the week of the Bike MS ride to inform them what their portion of the team fundraising monies are or what they still have due. 50+ Member Teams Incentive Back by popular demand - all teams with 50 members or more registered by 5:00 p.m. September 10, 2008 will receive their own team registration table at Pre-Registration on September 25, 2008 at Saturn of Newark. We will provide the table, registration materials, t-shirts, and training. You provide the man power! Order Team Gear Special team gear, such as t-shirts, hats, banners, etc., are a great way to show off your team spirit and to make your team stand out from the rest. Be sure to check out our website at to see our list of preferred vendors for your team gear! OR Reach out to a local businesses to sponsor your team gear! Remember to place your orders for team gear early!

Stop by the Team Tent at the 2008 Bike MS Ride at DelTech s Terry Campus in Dover Mix and mingle with other team captains, grab a snack, pick up your team sign for the team photo, and pick up your 2008 Bike MS Ride Team Captain pin. My team is going to win... Top Fundraising Team Largest Team Top Pledge Average Team Divided into 3 team categories: Corporate, Friends & Family, and Club/ Organization. *To be included in the pledge average, team members must ride and/or turn in pledge money. Top Rookie Team New team with the most money raised. Most Improved Fundraising Team Veteran team (rode more than one year) with the greatest fundraising increase from Best Team Shirt Design Bring an extra team t-shirt the day of the ride, drop it off at the team table, and tell your fellow cyclists to vote for their favorite! Best Team Name Be creative! Be inventive! Your fellow riders will vote for the winner.
