1 ANNOUNCEMENTS: Friday, October 07, 2016 BIRTHDAYS: Happy Birthday Students and Staff!! STUDENT AND STAFF BIRTHDAYS COMING UP ARE: 10-7 Britynn Seward and Kaleb York 10-9 Luisa Grimaldo and Levi Huston Alexandra Dixon, Bryan Juarez and Mrs. Hall Kelsey Clemens Titus Freeman CROSS COUNTRY The Winston Tilzey Invitational is Wed. Oct 12 at Nampa. Meet time is 3:45 with a dismiss time of 1:45. Good luck runners! Great job to the boys and girls cross country runners at the Crosby Invitational Meet yesterday, no results have been posted yet. Don t forget pictures today and your celebration party afterward. VOLLEYBALL Regular volleyball games are now done. The tournament will take place this Saturday. The games start at 9:00. 7 th grade will play in Weiser and the 8 th grade will play in Fruitland at the Fruitland Middle School. 8 th grade volleyball players will have their end of the season party on Monday, October 10 th in Mr. Hurley s classroom after school. Bring your clean uniforms with you. FOOTBALL Regular games are now done. There will be playoff games next Tuesday. 8 th grade will play in Weiser against Payette at 4:15 followed by the 7 th grade team playing Homedale at approx. 5:45, also in Weiser. WRESTLING There will be a wrestling meeting on Monday, October 10 th in Mrs. Dickerson s room (RM 12) during lunch for any 7 th or 8 th graders that is interested in participating in wrestling this season.
2 ACADEMIC TEAM The first Academic Team competition will be in Weiser on October 12, participants to be announced soon. Don't forget to put your first and last name on your guess sheet! Bring the Gnome Home: The search is on for the green gnome. He is hiding somewhere in the school. If you find him, fill out a slip and place it in the Mystery Can in the Library. Put your name AND the date on the slip. The person who turns in a correct location first will get the sweet reward. Doodle Contest: The newspaper is sponsoring a doodle contest. The theme this month is animal related - specifically puppies. If you would like to submit a doodle for a chance at recognition in next month's Paw Prints edition, please turn it in to Mrs. Hall in Room #3. Ask Skylar: If you have any life questions that you would like our advice columnist to address, please place it in the Ask Skylar can in the Library and we will do our best to bring you an answer in next month's edition. LUNCH GRAB & GO LINE: Chicken Nuggets, Burrito, Potato Wedges SALAD BAR: Chicken Fajita, Salad, Fresh Fruit ATTENDANCE Front of the line passes are for students who have been in school all day the day before and are not tardy on the day the pass is received! Punctuality is an important life skill. ERICK MACIAS AND JAYDEN LINDLEY: Mrs. Kautz wants to recognize Erick and Jayden for being honest when they turned in a lost cell phone that they found at the football game yesterday. Way to be boys!!
3 REMINDER All students need to pick up after themselves in the cafeteria in the mornings and during lunch. This should NOT have to be a reminder; however, many students seem to be struggling with this. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES! HOMECOMING Homecoming photos are next Friday at lunch time. One print is $1 each. Wear your read and white and know who you want pictures with. Plan ahead! LIBRARY BAKE AND BOOK SALE The library will have a bake and book sale during parent-teacher conferences. We are NOW accepting donations of used books. Any student who brings in a donation will receive a sweet treat and a front of the line pass. FALL SPORTS PHOTOS We will be having photos for Fall sports TODAY, October 7, starting at 2:30p.m. Picture packets should be available in the office by Wednesday, September 28 th. FRIDAY, OCT 7 2:30 begin taking photos Volleyball B Teams - B teams will be released a little early from class (2:20) to get changed Cross Country Volleyball A Football FCA The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be meeting on Friday, October 7 th in the library. Everyone is welcome! Bring your lunch. We will have treats and an uplifting message. Additional dates for meetings are November 4 th and 11 th, as well as December 2 nd and 9 th. IDAHO FARM to SCHOOL MONTH This week marks the official start of National Farm to School Month. The theme for this week is CRUNCH-IDAHO APPLES! This week substitute your current fruit with crunchy Idaho apples! This is the time when apples are fresh in our area so it is a great time to eat some healthy, crunchy apples! Remember what they say, An apple a day keeps the doctor away! UPCOMING EVENTS 10-7 Sports Photos starting at 2: Volleyball Tournaments (7 th grade is in Weiser and 8 th grade is Fruitland) RECYCLE Students, if you buy water bottles make sure that you are recycling them. Do not just throw them away. WE LOVE OUR SCHOOLS If anyone has a We Love Our Schools contest drawing they have to be in Mrs. Martell s room TODAY! FREE RECESS!! STUDENTS, do you know that if everyone in your grade comes to school on any given day, then you will ALL receive some extra time outside! It s called 100% attendance! Tell your friends to come to school so that you can have some extra recess time! Today we have 3-6 th graders, 4-7 th graders, and 8-8 th graders gone. JOKE OF THE DAY Why did the orange lose the race? It ran out of juice!
4 FACT OF THE DAY Venus and Uranus rotate on their axes in a different direction than the other six planets. IT S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! BSU TICKET RAFFLE FUNDRAISER FOR WMS FOOTBALL 2016 We are beginning our 5 th year of our annual BSU Football Ticket Raffle to support the WMS football program. We use these funds to purchase brand new helmets, new game pants, new shoulder pads, and more. The fundraiser will run for 4 weeks beginning on Monday, September 12 th and will end Friday, October 7 th. Each football player is expected to sell 5 raffle tickets. The tickets are $5. We encourage all players to sell as many tickets as possible and will reward weekly top sellers with prices and the top seller overall will receive a large special prize.
