I sure love the holiday season. What better time to help the needy? Come sign up for one of the many events where you can help in giving back to our community. The holiday times are for being thankful for what you have and doing charitable deeds. How better to do so than helping out in your own backyard? Come get your Key Club on with us. 2 What have we been up to? Division 46 reppin their blue and gold spirit at the rally LHS Key Clubbers taking a food break Livingston High School in their blue and yellow glory On Saturday, October 29th, 41 key clubbers arrived in their blue and yellow glory bright and early at 6:45 in the LHS parking lot. They were ready to begin their 2 hour journey to attend Fall Rally North at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. The bus ride there was full of energy and excitement. Upon arrival, members were free to explore the park for about 2 hours, since Division 46 was to take part in the 2nd rally. The 2nd rally began at Amanjot enjoying herself 1pm with the auctioning off of the LTG s. a bit too much Division 46 managed to buy their own LTG Elizabeth Lucero for $200 as well as 2 other LTG s Then came time for the spirit battle. Division 46 showed their Key Club spirit with their sunglasses, painted faces, tutus, ribbons, and huge posters. Unfortunately, their loud screaming and spirit cheers were not enough to win them the Spirit Stick. After another Seng & Isaiah division won the battle, the rally came to an end. The members were then free to use the remainder of the time to explore the rest of the park. Members took this time to eat, go on rides, and walk around to enjoy the beautiful sunlight. At 6 pm, the Key Clubbers boarded the bus to head home. On the bus ride back, some members gave in to their exhaustion and fell asleep, while others stayed awake to watch a scary movie. All in all, it was a very exciting and memorable trip. Aww, sibling love! 2

Sale. The day started off with the Key Clubbers helping arrange the items to be put up for sale.

4 Check this out! On Friday, November 18, eight Key Club members traveled to Atwater to help out at the Special Olympics Regional Bowling Tournament. The tournament was held for those with special needs. Key Club, with the help of their sponsoring Kiwanians, purchased the food and helped serve it. They also assisted in the tournament as needed. Said chair Jyoti Dhanota about the event, This was an unforgettable experience and I would love to do it again. I hope the other members that volunteered and the adults that volunteered feel the same way as I do. Members Evelyn Bucio, Diana Angulo, and Vanessa Gonzalez hard at work On Monday November 14th, sixteen members and 2 advisors attended the Delhi High School DCM. At the DCM, members discussed matters such as service activities the other clubs have been doing, the Pasadena trip, Key Club Week, and collecting donated items for the Kiwanis House The learning segment concerned the CTC (Candidates Training Conference) for any students interested in being a future LTG. Not everyone can be as excited as Mr. Vierra LTG Elizabeth Lucero sharing words of advice with Miguel Medoza of Delhi On November 5th, nine key clubbers helped out at the Livingston United Methodist Church s Christmas Holiday Sale. The day started off with the Key Clubbers helping arrange the items to be put up for sale. When the doors opened, the members were instructed to manage the cash boxes. Two members were assigned to each cash box. One served as the casher, while the others bagged items. Lunch was provided to the volunteers, and the food was delicious. Overall it was a productive day. The members went home around 4 pm, earning them a good nine hours of community service. 4

5 In other news... On the 1st day of Key Club week, we thanked our sponsoring Kiwanians by attending one of their weekly meetings and presenting them with a cake. The cake was ordered by our faculty advisor, Frank Vierra, and was very delicious, stated president Kiran Sahota. The 8 members who attended the Kiwanis meeting also presented each Kiwanian with a special card filled with confetti hearts. Everyone exchanged warm thank you s as the key clubbers got ready go head home. The 2nd day of Key Club Week was Show Your K in Every Way day. On this day, all members were encouraged to wear their Key Club shirts to school. Those who did so and reported it to Mr. Vierra had their names entered in a drawing to win shirts, candy, stuffed kangaroos, and other prizes. Key Club also had a booth set up during both lunches showcasing awards, scrapbooks, and trifolds and flyers describing the numerous service activities we have participated in. The booth also had applications for students interested in joining. Three new members joined the club due to this event. In addition, to promote UNICEF, we had a member during each lunch wear the UNICEF box mascot. The 4th day of Key Club week was Bring a Friend to Key Club day. Members were told to bring their non Key Club friends to the meeting so they too would be encouraged to join. Our advisor Mr. Vierra s birthday happened to be on the following Saturday, so since Friday was a school holiday, members surprised Mr. Vierra on this day by decorating his office and celebrating his birthday at the meeting with a cake and other goodies. Happy 21st birthday, Mr. Vierra! On the 3rd day of Key Club week, we thanked our key players. Those who have helped us by driving, chaperoning, donating, and overall supporting our club were recognized. We gave a goody bag, cupcake and card to each one of the 10 outstanding faculty members. In addition, we gave a pot of miniature roses to the female supporters and a box of chocolates to the males.
