1 11/19/2018 Monday Memo Page 1 of 5 Good evening LHS family, It seems like winter is here, ready or not! I thought for sure the snow would have melted by now and we would be back to fall but that might be wishful thinking. I just received word that the city roofers spent all day repairing roof leaks in the area by 643. Heat is on in the basement and the locker rooms. We should be good to go this week, but as always make sure you let Roxane know of any issues. Wednesday is LHS Pride Day and the infamous Pep Rally - let's wear our LHS Unity t-shirts and/or school colors plus make it a Jeans Day as well. If you don't have the Unity t-shirt, the school store is still selling them. Please give your Jeans Day $5.00 donation to your house office so we can help off-set our holiday party. Also, it's time to raffle off the parking spot for December. If you would like to put your name in the raffle, please see Sue or Charlene in the main office to buy as many tickets as you want, $1.00 = 1 chance. Are you feeling lucky? HI-LIGHTS OF LAST WEEK Students in the Culinary Pathway had an opportunity to give back to their community this week. They prepared and delivered a donation of potatoes, squash, and stuffing to our neighbors across the street at St. Joseph the Worker for an annual Thanksgiving Dinner served to 120+ people who would otherwise not have a Thanksgiving meal.

Last Saturday, all 6 LHS entries made it to the final round of 7 tapes. The tapes were played with no references to names/schools. The following are the results from the 5 judges: 1.

Above are the winners from this year s Voices of Democracy contest the VFW has each year. Congrats to LHS JROTC! All the submissions were well-done. Last Saturday, all 6 LHS entries made it to the final round of 7 tapes. The tapes were played with no references to names/schools. The following are the results from the 5 judges: 1. Phillip Tran- (Lowell Catholic) (receives plaque and $300 on 13NOV18 at 1930 at VFW; advances to District round); 2. What a fantastic group of students who are committed to making a difference! Oprah was amazing and did not disappoint. I know there were several members of our staff who were able to attend and there were a few district wide raffle ticket winners who also went. At the very last hour, I was afforded an opportunity to go, and loved every minute of it. I also know some students from the Boys and Girls Club attended as well. Oprah had a wonderful message focusing on the lasting impact of educational opportunities, as well as the importance of service to others and much more!
