2 Summer Challenge Camps 2019 Preschool Camp: Increase your child s social skills, motor skills, and intellectual skills through fun, hands-on, educational activities. We will have a ton of fun learning our letters, numbers, days of the week, and we will be doing a ton of fun activities that go along with some great stories! Children must be potty trained! Cost: $20 + $5 supply fee Dates: June 3-5; 9:00 to 10:30 Ages: 3 and 4 Coil Pottery: Create your own pottery. Take your creation from a lump of clay to a beautiful and colorful piece of art! Instructor: Cami Bacon Cost: $20 + $5 supply fee Dates: June 4 th 8:30-9:30 in St. Mary Middle School basement (by St. Mary Hill) in the art room; resume June 17 th 1:30-2:15 to glaze; pick up pieces in HS June between 8:00 and Noon Grades: K 8 th Grade Build a Pot: Learn how to plant a pot of annuals. We will travel to a local greenhouse to select our flowers. Camp is held in the front lawn of the elementary building. Instructor: Leah Konechne Cost: $10 + $15 supply fee Dates: June 4 th ; 9:30-11:00 Grades: 3 rd 6 th Grade Chemistry for Kids: Students will be amazed at how fun science can be with a number of demonstrations and hands-on experiments. After this camp, you will have learned cool experiments that you can teach your friends and parents!! Instructor: Blaine Bacon Cost: $20 + $10 supply fee Dates: June 5-6 Grades 1 st -3 rd : 10:30-11:30 Grades 4 th -6 th ; 9:00-10:00 Cheer Camp: Cheering, Chanting, Jumping, Tumbling, Stunting, Flying just some of the fun that will take place at cheer camp! Please sign up for Cheer Camp on the 2019 Sports Camp sign-up page. Instructor: Cami Bacon Cost: $25.00 Dates: June 17-19; 9:00 to 10:30 Cooking Camp: Bored with the same old summer lunches? Cooking camp is filled with great breakfast, lunch, snack, and treat recipes, along with hands on experience in the kitchen! We also learn proper measuring techniques, along with kitchen safety. We will also take time to learn the proper way to set the table! Each day, camp participants will make at least 2 new recipes, but will be able to try 4 new items! Meet at St. Mary Middle School (by St. Mary Hill) *New & fun recipes every summer!! Instructor: Cami Bacon Cost: $25 + $10 supply fee Dates: June 17-19; 11:00-1:00 Grades: 3 rd -8 th Grade Moving Monkeys: Let s move!! Children will practice gross motor movement skills and play games. We will have lots of great activities and games to help us move!! We might also explore some city parks Children should be potty trained! Cost: $20 + $5 supply fee Dates: July 8-10; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 3-5 Arts & Crafts Camp: Every day in this camp we will be making different art and craft projects to go with a holiday (Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, 4 th of July, and Spring). We will even have a project were we will paint, but not with paint brushes! Cost: $20 + $10 supply fee Dates: July 8-9; 10:30-12:00 Grades: 2 nd 6 th Grade

3 Band & Vocal Lessons: Get a head start to 5 th Grade Band or continue your instrumental and vocal studies by enrolling in band lessons and vocal lessons. You can choose from 4, 30 minute lessons or 8, 15 minute lessons. This is an awesome way to get a head start to the new band year, work on some of your basic skills, or get your singing voice in shape! Mrs. Smith will contact you with your time. Cost: $ Dates: Mrs. Smith will contact with available times Grades: 5 th -12 th Grade ONE DAY SUMMER CHALLENGE CAMPS $15 PER CLASS/PER STUDENT Disney Princess: Who is your favorite princess? Come be a Disney Princess for a few hours. Feel free to wear your dress up costumes and gowns, as we have a mini-magic ball and learn all about our favorite princesses. Dates: May 29 th ; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 4 yrs-2 nd Grade Star Wars: Do you have the force? How are your light saber skills? Test out your Clone Trooper and Jedi skills in a series of obstacle courses and outdoor fun (weather permitting). All Star War campers will start out as a Clone Trooper and work their way up to a Jedi. Dates: May 29 th ; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 4 yrs-2nd Grade Moana: One of the newest Disney Princesses takes us on an adventure to save her people and restore the heart of Te Fiti. We will play tropical island games, have a Moana inspired snack and lots more at this fun Moana camp. Feel free to dress up in your tropical clothes (lots of bright colors and flowers). Dates: May 30 th ; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 4 yrs -2 nd Grade Slime: Embrace the ooey gooey-ness of slime with this fun summer camp. Come and make some sparkly slime or maybe some gross green slime. Dates: May 30 th ; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 1st-5th Grade Minute to Win It: Can you take all the tissues out of a tissue box in under a minute? How about stack 5 pop cans on top of water in under a minute? If you want to come and play some fun games and compete against friends, then this is the camp for you! Dates: May 30 th ; 12:00-1:30 Grades: 2 nd 6 th Grade Dr. Seuss: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Come read and explore the magical world of Dr. Seuss through books, games, and art projects. Dates: June 3 rd ; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 5 yrs -2 nd Grade Super Heroes: Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man, Superman, Flash & Batman do you like super heroes? Then this is a camp for you! In this camp we will be playing many games to test your super hero abilities. Dates: June 4 th ; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 4 yrs-2 nd Grade

4 Minecraft Voyage Aquatic Camp: Come and learn to code with Minecraft and build an online Aquatic biome. Use your creativity and problem solving skills to explore and build underwater worlds with code. This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 4 th ; 1:00-2:30 Paw Patrol Camp: Paw Patrol Paw Patrol We ll be there on the double! Come join me in the Lookout as we read stories, make crafts, and play games all centered on our favorite pups.rocky, Rubble, Skye, Marshall, Chase, Zuma, and Everest! Children should be potty trained! Instructor: Cami Bacon Dates: June 5; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 3 years K Minecraft Hero's Journey Camp: Learn to code with the Hero, Agent as the Hero goes on a journey. You will help Hero by practicing your coding skills, creativity, and problem-solving. This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 5 th ; 1: Frozen: Do you want to build a snowman? Or how about becoming Anna or Elise for a day? Come have a fun filled morning singing, playing games, and having a frozen party. Dates: June 6 th ; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 4yrs 2 nd Grade Father s Day Camp: Come and make the perfect gift to give to Dad this year for Father s Day. We will be making a small gift and a card to say thank you to the Dad in your life! Dates: June 6 th ; 12:00-1:30 Robotics: Campers will work together to design, build and program a robot to compete in our very own robot competition. We will also use every day items to build our own moving bot. This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 18 th, 1:00-2:30 Grades: Preschool-2 nd Grade Video Game Star: Campers will learn about game design principles. They will complete quests using a game-based learning platform. They will then learn how to design their very own game! This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 20 th ; 9:00-10:30 Grades: 3 rd 9 th Grade Robotics: Campers will work together to design, build and program a robot to compete in our very own robot competition. We will also use every day items to build our own moving bot. This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 25 th, 9:00-10:30 Grades: 3 rd 9 th Grade

5 Scratch Game Design: Campers will learn how to make animations and games using the Scratch platform. This camp is appropriate for any level of experience. Dates: June 26 th ; 9:00-10:30 Grades: 3 rd 9 th Grade Pinkilicious: Little girls come dressed in pink for a fun morning of girlie girl stuff. We will be making some jewelry, decorating pink cupcakes, and even having our very own Pinkilicious party. Dates: June 26 th ; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 4 yrs-2 nd Grade Teenage Mutant Turtles: Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo (He is the party dude)! Come play turtle games and have some of the turtles favorite snacks. Make sure you wear your green clothes, as we will becoming a member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Dates: June 26 th ; 10:30-12:00 Ages: 4 yrs-2 nd Grade Pete the Cat: Pete the Cat is a very fun book for all ages. Come explore Pete and his Groovy 4 Buttons, his cool shoes, and his day at school as we read and explore three of Pete the Cat s books. This camp will have everything from music, dance, art, and reading! We will definitely be rocking out during this fun camp! Dates: June 27 th ; 9:00-10:30 Ages: 4 yrs-1 st Grade 4 th of July Picnic: Come have some 4 th of July fun! Make table decorations, crafts, projects, play fun 4 th of July games, and cook up a 4 th of July Picnic. This is a one-day camp that will allow your child s imagination to grow and get them all in the 4 th of July spirit. Dates: June 27 th ; 10:30-12:00 Refund Policy Refunds will only be given to camp participants if the camp director (Joni Smith and Cami Bacon) AND the camp instructor are notified at least one week prior to the camp starting. After June 10 th, refunds will be at the discretion of the instructor.

7 2019 Summer Challenge SPORTS Camps STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CAMP Instructor: Ross Flemmer Cost: High School-$200 for 4 days/week Junior High Advance$150 Junior High Basic $100 Location of Camp: Meet downstairs by the weight room/coaches office in St. Mary High School each morning. Cardinal Strength and Conditioning Camp for Senior High (Grades 9-12 next year): This camp meets Monday thru Friday of each week. This is an 11-week camp starting in late May. This camp is for both boys and girls. The goal of the camp is to improve speed, strength, agility, coordination, and flexibility. (Calendars will be ed out once sign up is done and amount of sessions have been set.) Camp participants will receive a t-shirt. > High School Boys session will be from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. >High School Girls session will be from 7:30-9:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Cardinal Strength and Conditioning Camp for Junior High (Grade 6-8 next year): This camp meets each Monday thru Friday for 11-weeks (starting in late May). This camp is for both boys and girls. Camp participants will receive a t-shirt. >Basic- This session will run from 10:30-11:30 Monday and Tuesday Will meet Monday and Tuesday for one hour. This camp is designed for athletes to learn the basics of weightlifting and fundamentals of exercise. This will help the athletes learn as well as give them the opportunity to push themselves. We will be focusing on flexibility, quickness, agility, strength and general conditioning. >Junior High Advanced- This session run from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday Athletes in this session will need to have gone through a program dealing with weightlifting and or exercise. This session will push athletes harder to reach their peak potential. We will focus on flexibility, quickness, agility, strength, and overall conditioning. Camp will run from late May until early August. A full calendar with all dates and times will be sent to the address you provide on your camp form. We will take the week of July 1 st through the 5 th off for the SDHSAA mandated moratorium. GIRLS BASKETBALL SHOOTING FORM CLINIC Instructor: Jason Michel Cost: $15 This is a great opportunity to correct all aspects of your shooting form before you get into your summer basketball schedule. Players will also receive a list of helpful pointers so they can practice good form on their own. Grades: 5 th 12 th Dates: June 6 th ; 10:00-12:00

8 LITTLE CARDINAL FOOTBALL Instructors: Ross Flemmer & Blaine Bacon COST: $25(K-2) / $35 (3-6) includes t-shirt This camp is designed for boys and girls and is divided into two different sessions, grades K-2 and grades 3-6. The athletes that attend camp will work on basic football fundamentals as well as play different games and competitions. Please meet on the field to the east of St. Mary High School. Grades K-2: June 18 th -19 th at 10:30 to 12:00 Grades 3-6: June 18 th -19 th at 1:00 to 3:00 Cheer Camp Instructor: Cami Bacon Cost: $25 (NO T-Shirt) Cheering, Chanting, Jumping, Tumbling, Stunting, Flying just some of the fun that will take place at cheer camp! Dates: June 17 th -19 th ; 9:00-10: GIRLS BASKETBALL SKILLS CAMP Instructor: Jason Michel Cost: $100 A chance to improve on all your basketball skills, including offensive skills, shooting, ball handling, and fundamentals. A great chance for tons of reps with small groups of 2-3 and drills against defense. Sessions will be 45 minutes twice per week. Once registration is complete, Coach Michel will contact you to set up times. Grades: 6 th 12 th Dates: Monday and Wednesday in June & July Refund Policy Refunds will only be given to camp participants if the camp director (Joni Smith and Cami Bacon) AND the camp instructor are notified at least one week prior to the camp starting.
