1 Upcoming Events: Parks & Recreation Master Plan Presentation Monday, October 1st at 7pm at the Community Cabin City staff will give a formal presentation of the Master Plan and be available for resident Q&A. Recreation Center Open House Tuesday, October 9th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm The public is welcome to this open house style information session to see our facility plans, tour the building and talk with the project team. FREE Community Shredding Event Saturday, October 13th from 9am - Noon at the Rec Center In parking lot of the Recreation Center. 2 bags/boxes per North Olmsted resident. Open Mic Night at Springvale Coffeehouse Thursday, October 18th 6:30pm 8:30pm Sip your cup of joe and be entertained by local talent at this Arts Commission event celebrating the performing arts. The event will be held in the Springvale Clubhouse with doors opening at 6:00pm and performances starting at 6:30pm. Admission is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided along with a cash bar. Halloween Trick or Treat Wednesday, October 31st from 6pm - 8:00pm Please drive extra careful that night and watch out for pedestrians. The Recreation levy is on the November ballot for North Olmsted voters to decide. Join us for one of several upcoming community information sessions and facility tours to learn more. This class is an information session that will provide the basics of how to use the weight machines and cardio equipment. Registration is required. Lifeguarding Course - America Red Cross October 6th, 7th, 13th, & 14th 9:00am 4:00pm Residents: $ Non-Residents: $ Learn to Skate USA Learn to Skate USA is the official beginning skating program for US Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speed Skating. This program offers innovative instruction that is both informative and motivational with lots of extras including free public skates, skate rentals, extended lesson time, achievement patches, an end of session party and more. Learn to Swim The City of North Olmsted offers a program suited for beginners to more advanced skilled swimmers. Our program is committed to providing lessons that build confidence, teach water safety skills, and encourages growth within a safe environment. 3rd - 4th Grade Basketball League Residents: $75.00 Non-Residents:$90.00 Teams from North Olmsted will play teams from Columbia, Fairview, Middleburg Heights and North Ridgeville. Players will be placed on teams created by the Recreation Department. Players will receive team shirts. All teams are coached by volunteer parents. Home games will be played at the New North Olmsted Middle/High School. 5th 9th Grade Basketball Leagues Resident $75.00 Non-Resident $90.00 This is broken up into a 5 th /6 th grade league and a 7 th thru 9 th grade league. These leagues feature teams from other cities such as Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Fairview Park, Rocky River, Columbia Station, Berea, Cuyahoga Heights, Strongsville and Westlake. A 10 game season that will feature an end of the year tournament. Players will be placed on teams created by the Recreation Department. Teams are coached by volunteer parents. Home games will be played at the New North Olmsted Middle/High School. High School Basketball League Residents: $65.00 Non-Resident $80.00 This 10 game regular season will play Saturday morning games that run from December 1 st - February 16 th. A single elimination tournament will be held at the completion of the regular season. Players will coach themselves on teams created by the Recreation Department. Practices are not offered at this level. This league will not combine with other cities. The Recreation Department will contact you with information on the first game. Games will be played at the New North Olmsted Middle/High School.
