1 Artistic Director s Notes: Please review the following notes. The notes on top are the most recent Great job at the Parent Preview everyone. Mrs. DeNardo said you did a great job in the Green Room! Keep up the good work. We will have a dress rehearsal Saturday. Please have all your costume pieces in your box for head shots Thursday. All costumes stay in box. When you get here Thurs. And Sat. you will change. We will have dress rehearsals every Sat. unless otherwise noted. For head shots on Thursday: You may wear light makeup and have your hair done. Please make sure you are rehearsing at least 5-10 minutes per day, including reviewing your lyrics and music. Lionesses singing off stage need to learn the lyrics and songs. You need to either meet with Edwin about this or help each other when you are not on stage. In Circle of Life make sure you don t go too fast as you go around the circle. Also, make sure you stay off of the gray carpet. No one should be standing directly behind Pride Rock. All: Watch timing on the music here. Lionesses: In Circle of Life you need to sing your alternate part louder and more confidently. Anela: Nice job taking on this! Need to make your entrance and work on chant as you come down the steps. Really command the animals and draw them in to the celebration. All Animals: Need to play the animals. Nice job Isabella Combs. You are always playing your character. Grasslands Chant: Need to bring out platform so Mufasa and Simba can sit on it. Need volume and review lyrics in this song. I Just Can t Wait to Be King: Andrew and Ava, really nice job. Need to interact with each other more. Remember you are best friends. Need to make choices to show that. Jianna: Need to respond to them the whole time. Nice job singing and playing the character. 2 All: NEVER BREAK CHARACTER. Be Prepared: Scar: Nice volume and choices. Keep going back into the script and making choices, respond to the hyenas. Respond to Mufasa. Hyenas: When you are eating the bones, face out to audience. Create different levels. Bigger falling over and kicking feet. Bigger hysterical laughter. Hakuna Matata: Nice job everyone. As they are eating the grubs all those on stage should be focused on them and leaning over with hands on knees in levels. Timon, Pumba, Simba need to be closer to stage so the spot light can hit you. Marco: I LOVED YOUR CHOICE COMING DOWN THE STEPS. NEED TO MAKE THOSE STRONG CHOICES EVEN MORE!!!!!! Shadow lands: Makenna: Really nice facial expressions. Keep doing that and making a connection. At some point choose to look up and focus. Anela/Makenna: Really build the moment of your blessing and have it give her strength. Arianna work with Anela on this additional part in this song. Finale: Everyone needs to sing with more enthusiasm. You need to learn these lyrics. When you all come down, you need to kneel instead of sitting. No one should be standing behind Pride Rock Everyone needs to go to the website, upstageplayers.com to access the music and rehearse for 5-10 minutes per day. Circle of Life: Nice job Anela stepping in. Don t step on gray carpet. Sing louder. No pushing when touching hands, feet shoulder width apart, Leave hands up until we call black out. Don t break characters. Need to exit half and half.
