1 Lionettes Fall 2015
2 Practices We practice how we perform! Practice uniforms, as scheduled on the calendar, are worn for every practice unless otherwise instructed. Hair MUST be worn UP at ALL TIMES during practices. The Director will oversee all practices to assure that they are efficient and are meeting the overall expectations of our program. All practices are closed to those not affiliated with the KHS Marching Lions or Lionettes. Complete discipline, cooperation, and team effort are a must during practice. Complaining or challenging the Captain(s), Director and/or members of Leadership will not be tolerated. It is NOT acceptable to eat OR chew gum during practice. All personal matters such as that should be taken care of in advance of practice. Cell phones ARE NOT to be used during practice unless permission is given to contact parents for a scheduling matter. Practice Attendance Practices are extremely important in both Fall and Spring. Practice times are given as far in advance as possible. Each Lionette is responsible for checking the calendar and knowing when they need to be in rehearsals and where rehearsals will be held. You are expected to be on time, dressed and ready to begin when practice starts (DOWNBEAT). It is your responsibility to inform the Director, the Captains, AND the Secretary of a tardy or an absence. All of the above parties must be informed. Contact does not constitute excuse from rehearsal. Absences and tardies will be excused at the director's discretion. Performances You will be required to pass off EVERY THURSDAY during the season. It is critical that each Lionette knows each part of all the routines she is involved in. Pass-offs will be conducted through random selection if it is a week that we are not learning new choreography. In terms of pass offs: there will be a specific date and time given for pass-offs for new routines. This is why attendance is so important!
3 During a Performance Proper facial expressions will ALWAYS be used!! There will be NO talking or giggling on the performance stage, field or when waiting to perform, this includes during another teams performance. If your hair flies in your face, your neighbor makes a mistake, or you have wardrobe malfunctions, you are to remain professional. You are a performer. Uniforms Uniforms and all required accessories must be neat, clean and complete. No jewelry or colored nail polish of any kind is allowed for performances unless specified by the Director. Make-up must follow the guidelines given by the Director. Hair will be prepared according to the guidelines given by the Director. Ponytails must be held firmly with the necessary tools as well as bangs kept out of the face. If your bangs frequently come out of your ponytail, you MUST wear a headband to fix the problem. Any time we travel as a team, you are required to have your Lionette Warm-Ups with you. Inspection before games We will have uniform inspections before each game. You will know exactly what is required of you before inspection. If you are a big sister, it is YOUR job to make sure your little sister has everything she needs to pass inspection. If she fails, you fail. Come prepared to inspection the Director provides the final verdict on passing or failing there are no arguments or second chances.
4 POINTS In order to maintain accountability, the Lionette squad operates on a point system. Points are awarded and subtracted based on each member s adherence to the established expectations. 6 BAND/LIONETTE BOOSTERS **ATTENTION LIONETTES, IN ORDER FOR YOUR DAUGHTER S FALL COSTUME TO BE PAID FOR BY THE BOOSTERS, YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE BAND BOOSTER ORGANIZATION*** The purpose of the KHS Band Boosters is to advance the best interests of the King High School band and Lionettes by giving support as requested by the band director. Maintaining an active band program requires support and funding beyond that provided by the school system. The King High School Band Boosters organization was established in 1974 as the King High School Music Club (renamed in 2005) to provide this support to both the band and auxiliary in any way they can. Some of the ways the Band Boosters provide assistance are chaperoning events, helping in securing funds for instrument/equipment replacement and repair, uniform replacement and upkeep, and providing venues to award individual and group accomplishments. Other activities include the provision of funds for the purchase of music and supplies requested by directors, furnishing chaperones for band events, the organization and implementation of fundraising activities, the encouragement of new parent involvement, and the support and advocacy for music programs in the public schools. There are three levels of membership in the band boosters, each providing different benefits but all providing much needed support for the superior band and auxiliary members.
