Booster Club February is a time of cold days, colder nights and exciting SHS VIP activities! We write this after the 7th Annual Trivia Night fundraiser and it was an amazing good time! Awesome job by our chairpersons Stacie Campbell and Latoya Wilson. They organized the event, the tickets, the venue at the Seville (great dinner and drinks - very nice!) and emcee Jean Bajko and all the volunteers (who also graciously allowed their spouses to help too!). If you could not make it, please consider it for next year. The silent auction items donated by our local commerce and those club-made baskets were clever and appreciated. But wait, there's more! This week is Winter formal, "The Greatest show on Earth." This event is hosted by the school, and SHS VIP supports the event with volunteers who run the coat check, provide refreshments and assist with the games. If you haven't been to a dance in a while, you are in for treat! Come volunteer and see what the kids are talking about these days. Scholarship applications are due on February 15. We look forward to many applications. D211 Career Expo is 3/13 from 4:30-6:30 pm at SHS We are looking for parents to share their career experiences and local companies to participate. Whether you are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year university, or a technical/vocational school, the V.I.P. Club is offering scholarships that can be used for the pursuit of higher education to the SHS Class of You could pay tuition, buy books, or whatever else you need, plus the check is made payable to YOU, not your parents or the school! Check out this year s scholarships being offered: Academic Scholarships: One $1, Academic Scholarship, three $1, Academic Scholarships, and five $ Academic Scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated their success at Schaumburg High School and in the community. Jean Bajko Volunteerism Scholarship: One $1, Volunteerism Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated their volunteerism at Schaumburg High School and in the community. Special Education Scholarship: One $1, will be awarded to an outstanding special education student who has demonstrated their success at Schaumburg High School and in the community. Students may apply for more than one category of scholarship; however, they can only be awarded one scholarship. To be eligible for these scholarships, a senior s parent or guardian must be a member of the SHS VIP by December 1, Membership applications will be available on the SHS website under the Parents tab. 5 Prom Fashion Show In preparations for Prom, SHS VIP is presenting a fashion show on February 27 and 7 pm. Come and see the Juniors and Seniors model the latest in prom fashion! You will always have experienced concessions team members serving along with you, so no experience is needed.
