April 10, 2019 Dear TexARTS Academy Families, Welcome to Harmony! We are so excited to bring this academy year to a close with a presentation of the amazing work your children have accomplished. We appreciate all of your support throughout this year. Whether it s sharing your child with us, volunteering, or making a gift donation to our nonprofit. We couldn t continue to provide arts education programs without the help of our community. We are blessed to have you as part of the TexARTS Family. If your student is looking for something to do this summer, join us for our summer musical production of Frozen, Jr. or enroll in one of our visual arts, acting, or musical theatre summer camps. 3 P a g e 3 ESSENTIAL INFORMATION: LOCATION: ALL Dress Rehearsals and Performances will take place at TexARTS in the Kam & James Morris Theatre. COSTUMES: Costumes for dance classes will be distributed in class throughout the week of April 22 nd, please be prepared to come into class during the last 5 minutes to get a summary from the teacher of what s involved in each costume. Tights and shoes are not provided, please check with the teacher of the class to confirm tight and shoe colors. Costumes will not be distributed to families with outstanding account balances. We recommend that each student s name be placed in ALL costumes, shoes, accessories, and tights. Hang up your costume (tutus should hang upside down) to avoid wrinkles. It is helpful to store accessories or easily lost pieces in a labeled Ziploc bag on the hanger. Please store your costume in a safe place to avoid damage. Students should not wear costumes before dress rehearsal and performances. Please remember that there is no need to wear underwear under your costume - it s like a bathing suit. All camisole leotards, bras, or support tops should be nude colored with clear straps. For students in multiple dance classes, please bring a labeled basket or tub to put costume pieces in during quick changes. Some costumes might require alterations. Please try on all costumes and make needed adjustments prior to the show. Acting, improv, and voice students should wear their own all black clothing to the dress rehearsal and performances. Unless otherwise noted by the instructor. MAKEUP AND HAIR: All students should wear full hair and makeup for Dress Rehearsals and Performances. Please ensure that all hair accessories and hairstyles are properly pinned and hairsprayed. There will be no hair or makeup changes throughout the show. Students over 7 with long hair should wear a low bun with a part on the left side. Students 3-6 or with short hair should wear their hair neatly and securely out of their face. Makeup for ages 2-6 yrs: Pink lip gloss, pink blush, and (optional) black mascara. Makeup for 7+ yrs: Base/powder, ivory eye shadow on eyelids, brown eye shadow in the crease, black eyeliner, black mascara, pink blush, red/pink lipstick. Please no jewelry or nail polish DRESS REHEARSAL: Thursday, May 9 Dress Rehearsal will take place Thursday May 9th. (See class call time schedule on page 8.) Students MUST attend Dress Rehearsal in order to participate in the showcase performance(s); this is for everyone s safety. Dress Rehearsal is a time for students to become familiar with the theater and practice their dance onstage so they feel comfortable and confident for their performance. Please arrive in full costume, hair, and makeup. Parents or guardians may accompany their students to Dress Rehearsal. Please remember that performers and TexARTS staff are working during this time. Talking in the theatre is not permitted. No food or drink is allowed in the theater during dress rehearsal.

4 P a g e 4 Videotaping is permitted only during Dress Rehearsal. We ask that you respect the privacy of other TexARTS families and refrain from posting videos on video sharing websites (Youtube, Vimeo, Flickr, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Flash photography is ALWAYS prohibited. PERFORMANCES: Friday, May 10, 2019 at 7pm (All academy students with the exception of Ballet/Tap combo class, Musical Magic & Twinkle Stars) Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Noon (Ballet/Tap combo class, Musical Magic & Twinkle Stars will only perform Saturday, May 11 th at noon.) This will be an abbreviated version of the showcase. T3 students will also be in this performance. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2pm (All academy students with the exception of Ballet/Tap combo class, Musical Magic & Twinkle Stars) Before show: Students should arrive 60 minutes prior to show time in full costume and makeup. Performers will need to be signedin and may not leave again until after the performance. Roll call will be taken 45 minutes prior to the show. There is no food or drink anywhere in the dressing rooms or backstage (closed water bottles are permitted backstage only). During show: Performers will wait backstage in their dressing room before and after their turn to perform. If your child has a costume change, it is their responsibility to change costumes on their own. This can be practiced! Parent volunteers and instructors will be in the dressing room to assist dancers. After show: Performers may not leave the backstage area until the show's completion. Performers please note: you must leave your dressing area cleaner than you found it. Special notes for Ballet/Tap, Musical Magic & Twinkle Stars students: Young performers should have a snack and use the restroom before being signed-in to their dressing room. It is also a good idea to pack some simple, clean activities for them to keep busy backstage. Families should designate one person to pick up their student from the dressing room area. Performers must be signed out from that space, please be patient while waiting for your performer. TexARTS staff and volunteers will supervise all performers until they have been picked up. ALL PERFORMERS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY BACKSTAGE DURING PERFORMANCES. Performers may not leave until the performance has completed. Parents and guardians are not permitted backstage or in dressing rooms after your student has been signed in. Older performers will meet their parties in the theater lobby. VISUAL ARTS CLASSES: This year we will host a gallery display for the visual arts classes. Artists are expected to set up their designated space during our scheduled dress rehearsal time. Between 4pm 8pm on Thursday, May 9, VOLUNTEER: As a small staff, we rely heavily on our amazing volunteers. Look out for an asking for volunteers and consider signing up for a shift backstage or as an usher at the performance(s). For more information, please contact us at admin@tex-arts.org. TICKETS: Tickets are currently on sale to Friends of TexARTS. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Thursday, April 18 th at 11am! Reserved seats are available at tex-arts.org.
