1 CENTRAL DAUPHIN BAND BOOSTER ASSOCIATION Tuesday, October 4th, 7:30 pm MEETING MINUTES Meeting Called to Order: Tom Castanzo, President: 7:30PM OFFICERS REPORTS Treasurer s Report: Ron Linville: On tonight s printout, 9/26 has wrong description on form, but it shows correctly in CHARMS. Transfers were made from Scrips to savings. Financial Secretary Report: Holly Zieber: Report shows deposits. $100 from fall preview went to Landis Field bake table for startup cash at booth. The account will catch up as bake good sales roll over from game to game. Recording Secretary s Report: Diane Rhine: No Report. Previous month s minutes accepted by Kristi Castanzo, then seconded by Michelle Chambers. Vice Presidents Reports: Michelle Chambers: Need volunteers to help work at the 10/8 Homecoming game, and 10/15 Band-A- Rama. Clipboard passed around for signup. Michelle will enter all volunteers into CHARMS later. Scott Zieber: No report. Kristi Castanzo: Indoor-Rama volunteer signup sheet was passed looking for people to help with planning. Meeting time to be determined. Lori Goldmann: Absent Keith Shuey: No report Student Officers Report: (Absent Marching Band Rehearsal tonight) President - Aimee Cheam: Vice President - Brad Owens: Band Director s Report: Mr. Carraher The first indoor band concerts are coming up soon. Come out & check it out. - 10/24 Concert band, Symphonic band, and Percussion ensemble - 10/26 Wind Ensemble
2 2-10/12 Student Officer meeting MUST BE RESCHEDULED since there is no school that day. An will be sent out with the new date. - Marching band scores continue improving, and group is coming together nicely. Very exciting! - 10/08 Homecoming game on Saturday afternoon (Friday, 10/07 is the Homecoming dance). - 10/15 Band-A-Rama is our last regular competition prior to chapters and ACCs. o The group is doing well, and working hard at practices. To further prepare for the final competitive field show performances, there will be additional Thursday night practices the leading up to Chapter Championships and ACCs. If this is a conflict with prior commitments, let Mr. Carraher know. Kids are very excited. Mr. Bitner /17 1 st jazz concert is at 7 PM, and all 3 jazz bands will be performing. OLD BUSINESS Scrip: Missy Miller: No Report Order will go in tonight. There are not many specials right now. Next month there will be more information to share about the upcoming holiday specials. Sales Student Ledgers Boosters September, 2016 $9, $ $ Fiscal YTD $21, $ $ Program Totals $1,269, $23, $39, ORDER DUE PICK-UP Tuesday, October 4 Saturday, October 8 Tuesday, October 18 Saturday, October Memberships: Ron Linville: 54 memberships received ($3315) & 3 patron memberships ($375) - Drawing for $25 gift card held tonight based on all those who became members before September. Congratulations to our winners, the Conway, the winners. Sub Sale: - Starts on October 4 th (order forms handed out tonight); Orders due Thursday, October 13th; Sub pick up is Tuesday, October 25 th. - Trying not to oversaturate the market, but the extra sales gives more opportunities to raise additional funds during a trip year.
3 3 Band-A-Rama: - Unit(s) update: 15 including Towson University Set up time is 12:30 p.m. (field opens for workers), but start time is 5:00. - Volunteer Sign Up is now on Charms Please sign up! It will be a busy and full day. - Packets to the directors have been sent which include letter, menu, maps, tickets for presale, information sheets for buses, trucks, etc. They were instructed to bring their own TOB passes. - Looking for a runner for the Head Judge. Can be a sibling of someone in the band who is responsible. Good for service hours, if someone needs them for other organizations. - Missy Miller is looking for someone to shadow her on how to run the Judge s Hospitality room. Setting up food table, and then stocking it throughout the night for them. Business Sponsorship Update: Kristi Castanzo: This year s target was $5000, and we are currently at $4150 Chaperones for Football Season: Holly & Scott Zieber: - 10/08 Homecoming: Tom & Kristi can help - 10/15 Band-A-Rama: Have 7 now, need 3 more (people volunteered during meeting) - 10/28 Senior Night: Need another 5 pushers. We play post-game. Senior recognition is pregame Landis Field Concessions: - Home Football Games = VISITOR Side Concessions: 10/8, 10/21 and 10/28 - Band-A-Rama = HOME Side Concessions: 10/15 - All positions are listed on Charms. Please log on to volunteer. - We are required to furnish the Athletic Director a list of volunteers (prior to the game) of those who will be working concessions. Dine to Donate: Keith Shuey: - 10/12, Wednesday, at Texas Roadhouse from 5-9PM. Note: NO SCHOOL this day! - Print out original coupon in advance. link to print them was already sent out. Present 1 coupon for each diner at any time during the meal, but covers the entire check. 10% of total food bill goes to the band programs. - Handing out coupons in the lot is not allowed by the restaurant. Don t ruin a good thing. Texas Roadhouse is very cooperative and wants to promote whatever we have coming up. - Keith has a pre-made poster available to take to workplace. Top 10 reasons to dine-to-donate are given. Coupons are available to put out beside the visual advertisement.
4 4 Event Coordinators Needed: - Indoor-Rama: Need someone to shadow and work with Kristi Castanzo (senior parent). her if interested at vicepres4@cdramband.org NEW BUSINESS: Spring Trip Update: April 27-30, /10 Trip meeting at 7:00PM in the band room. Info for any parent whose student is going. - Holly Zieber = Payment Coordinator volunteer Goody Bags for ACCs: Keith Shuey: NOTE: This is a hush-hush operation try not to alert students - Candy grams are not available for ACCs. So a special message from parent to student will be included in a bag of candy & delivered instead. Similar goody bags were given to the indoor drumline participants before the Dayton trip last year, and the kids loved it. - Keith needs list of all band parents to send them the standardized message form. Needs to work quickly because of short timeframe. If parent doesn t return their message in time, then an encouraging message from the CD RamBand Boosters will be included instead. - Candy donations needed; all must be nut-free. CHARMS has list to donate goody bag items. - Contact Keith for drop-off or pick-up. Baked Goods for Band-A-Rama: - Donated baked goods needed. No sign-up is required. Simply bake items, mark with description & then mark with price for $1. Bring to Landis Field, and we will sell them for you. Paint Night: 12/15/ /15 at Maureen Marks Art Studio, 6-8PM. $30 per person (1/2 goes back to band boosters) slots are open, but they fill up quickly. Kristi to reserve a seat & get check to her ASAP. Students can bring money to THE BOX in the band room. Event was filled last year. Senior Recognition Night: 10/28/ Forms are due back to Mr. Carraher by 10/21 with bios and baby pictures. - Boosters will be getting flowers for parent(s) from the Vo-Tech - Amber Heshler volunteered Keynotes: 10/30/2016 Co-Chairs: Renee Gibson, Lisa Silver, Donna Leinbach - 12:30 drop-off of 7 th and 8 th graders. Students will practice with the Band, then 2:00PM - Boosters will give workshop to 7 th and 8 th grade parents. Cookies & Hot Cocoa for all after concert. Dine to Donate:
