1 For the Love of It Cheer Competition SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20, PORT MOODY SECONDARY SCHOOL COMPETITION INFORMATION: Geared at showcasing school cheer teams and prep level/half year, level 1 and level 2 allstar teams, For the Love of It was created to let your team feel like the main event. The goal of this competition is to allow athletes to show their love for cheer to their friends, family and our community. DATE: Saturday February 20, 2016 TIME: approx. 9:00am-2:00pm (Allstar: morning; School: afternoon) times are dependent on registration numbers LOCATION: Port Moody Secondary School 300 Albert Street, Port Moody REGISTRATION DEADLINE: January 15, 2016 COST: Teams: only $10 per registrant (coaches are free) Group Stunts: $10 per group Spectator Admission: Children 5 and under are free. Students (with student card) and seniors are $3. Adults are $5.

2 TEAM CHECK IN & AREAS: All athletes must enter through the uppermost doors to receive a hand stamp at athlete check in. Athletes should then proceed to the large gym and find their program sign; that is where athletes can sit and place their belongings. PARKING: Parking is limited to two small parking lots: one is at the bottom of the hill and one is at the top. Some street parking is available. Please carpool or transit if possible! Parking attendants will be on site to help direct traffic. PERFORMANCE & WARM-UP AREA: Competition performance will be on 9 nonsprung mats in our large gym. Teams will begin warm up by taking a team photo in the Drama Room, then moving to the Cafeteria where there will be stunt and tumbling warm up mats. Then the full floor warm up will be on 7 nonsprung mats in our small gym. Water will be available in the small gym. MUSIC: Music MUST be on an ipod/mp3 player OTHER INFORMATION: - A concession is available at the event they accept CASH ONLY - Bows 2 Toes will be on site selling bows and other cheer gear - A Teddy Bear Toss benefitting youth mental health initiatives will happen at the conclusion of each session stuffies are $2 each and they will be thrown at prizes closest stuffy wins the prize and everyone gets to retrieve and keep their stuffy - St. John s Ambulance is on site for first aid

3 RULES & DIVISIONS All BCCA Sanctioned Competitions use the AACCA - American Association of Cheerleading Coaches & Administrators rules for school teams and use the USASF - U.S. All Star Federation rules for All Star teams. There are also Intermediate restrictions for school teams in that division. They are as follows: INTERMEDIATE RESTRICTIONS: - The only free-standing extended one foot stunt permitted is a liberty. (No other body positions are allowed unless a hand/arm to hand/arm connection is made to at least one bracer, making it a pyramid) - Full twisting skills are permitted to and from prep height, two foot stunts only (in both stunts and pyramids) - Cradle dismounts involving a skill (ex. toe touch, kick) may only be performed from prep height, two foot stunts - Inversions in stunts and pyramids are not permitted (including tumbling in or out of stunts) - Tosses are not permitted (see definition of tosses in AACCA rules) - Release stunts are not permitted (ex. switch up; low-to-high tick tock) Routines may not exceed 2.5 minutes. Timing will begin on the first note of music, the first word of the cheer, the first organized cheer or the first cheer movement, and will stop with the end of the cheer or last note of the music. School Teams must incorporate a cheer portion into their routine. There is no mandated cheer length requirement.
