2 SuperFrog (Mascot) TCU Spirit has one mascot- SuperFrog. SuperFrog s shoes are filled by many energetic, free spirited and fun loving TCU students. SuperFrog is the most needed and important factor in a TCU event. SuperFrog is responsible for ALL sporting events, pep rallies, parades and any other event specified by the Spirit Coordinator. These events are split up among the individuals that are selected to be SuperFrog. The number of SuperFrogs needed for TCU Spirit is not set but can range from 1 to 8 at any given time. Philosophy and Objectives As a TCU student activity, its first and foremost responsibility to the student is to the student is to support and not to compromise the student's academic career. Secondly, the program should aid in developing the student participant into a responsible, mature and independent adult. The primary goal is to the support of intercollegiate athletics and Texas Christian University. That support is directed into three major areas, as follows: (1) to raise the level of fan support for intercollegiate athletics; to lead in positive vocal support for the team; to solicit that support from TCU fans and to project that support to the University and its teams; (2) to participate in the athletic intercollegiate activity taking place and for entertainment and competitive purposes; and (3) to serve as public relations ambassadors of intercollegiate athletics and Texas Christian University; to uphold, reflect and project the goals and ideals of the University; to appear at University activities, functions and programs, at charitable and public causes to promote intercollegiate athletics and the University. Rules and Regulations Purpose TCU Spirit members must at all times bring credit to TCU. Each member is an official representative of TCU, its students, faculty, staff, and alumni. As such, he/she will always conduct herself/himself in a manner to uphold character, tradition, integrity, and spirit of TCU. Membership A. Eligibility for tryouts 1. Each candidate must be an accepted TCU student for the school year. 2. Candidates must complete and sign the assumption of risk and release form. 3. Any member who has resigned or dismissed from the team may not audition/tryout again for the given team without the current Director s or coach s permission. 4. All University property must be returned in good condition or paid for in full. 5. All returning members must be present at auditions/tryouts in or trying out for a leadership position. B. Membership 1. The squads will consist of members who are accepted to TCU and selected at the audition/tryout. 2. All TCU Spirit members are expected to complete the term of membership which shall be recognized as immediately following tryouts through the audition/tryout. 3. Members must read, initial, and sign Constitution Contract. 4. Members must enroll in the Cheerleader or Showgirl class PEAC C. Standards to maintain membership 1. Attendance and conduct are extreme importance to maintain membership 2. At least a 2.0 GPA must be maintained each semester to retain member status. 3. All minimum skills must be maintained throughout the year. 4. A member s resignation will be accepted only after a conference with the Director or Coach. Duties and Responsibilities of Members A. Procedures 1. Members will be chosen by various criteria, including seniority, skill, grades, dedication and attendance records to participate in events. B. Attendance 1. Members will attend all meetings, athletic events, dinners, receptions, parties, summer camps and all other activities as designated by the Spirit Coordinator.

3 2. Members will not schedule work, classes, or any other activity during rehearsal times. TCU is priority over all of the above and any sorority function. 3. Excused absences will be granted only by the Director, Coach or Spirit Coordinator. Death, illness, or official University business are the only acceptable reasons for absences. 4. TCU Spirit is first priority. If members are involved in other campus activities, or employed, it must not interfere with rehearsals, performances, or other events unless approved by the Spirit Coordinator. C. Performances/Appearances Lindsay Shoulders will coordinate all of your appearances. Your community appearances are just as important as your game performances and they part of your job as a TCU Spirit Member. They earn us our reputation and strength in the community. It is essential for TCU Spirit appearances to run efficiently. Perks of the TCU Spirit Program 1. You have the best seat in the house. 2. You have the opportunity to travel to many different destinations. 3. An eligible squad member will receive two complimentary football tickets and two complimentary men s and women s basketball tickets per home game for his/her guests. Tryout Information Mascot tryouts will be held in the spring on the TCU campus. Below are some of the basic requirements needed for each squad s auditions. A two minute skit set to music and candidates must use at least one prop in their performance. Tryouts will require you to wear the SuperFrog costume. Big moves, creativity, and originality are the skills the judges will be looking for. SuperFrog applications can be found in the TCU Spirit office located in the Stadium Tower or in DMC Marketing Office, Room 104. Applications will be available in January for auditions to be held in April of the same year.

4 TCU Spirit Contract I have read the TCU Spirit Constitution, course syllabus and understand ALL that the TCU Spirit Program represents. I promise to give all of myself in every practice, performance and appearance. I understand the rules of attendance and tardies at practice and performances and accept the penalty if I fail to follow the rules as they are stated in the Constitution. I understand that I represent the TCU Spirit program on and off the field. I must and will follow the University s Code of Ethics. My actions will be in good nature and will not harm the reputation of the TCU Spirit program and myself. If my actions do harm the organizations name in any manner, I understand from the Constitution and the course syllabus that I may be removed from the squad and receive a failing grade in the course. I understand that being a Cheerleader, Showgirl, or Mascot is a privileged and is a privilege that may be taken away if I do not stay up to par in all off my performances, appearances, attendance, attitude and acceptable behavior. I understand that the Director or Coach has the last word when it comes to decisions concerning the benefits of the squad. 5 Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk and Release I am aware of the physical activities and the dangers involved in participating in the clinics, competitions, tryouts, related travel and all other activities of the Spirit Squads of Texas Christian University. I am aware that such activities can be dangerous and involve risk of injuries, which may be serious, including without limitation, damage to joints, ligaments, muscles, bones, neck, spine, and other parts of the body. My participation in the above events and in all activities related to the above events is a voluntary act with full and complete knowledge of the risks involved. I hereby voluntarily assume all such risks associated with my participation in the above events. Additionally, I agree to exonerate, save, indemnify, and hold harmless the TCU Spirit Office, its employees and volunteers; Texas Christian University, its officers, agents, and employees-including without limitations, equipment personnel, and physicians and other practitioners of the healing arts-from any and all liability, claims, causes of action, or demands of any kind and nature whatsoever, including without limitation, personal injury which may arise from or in connection with my participation in any activities related to the clinic or competition. The terms of this document serve as an acknowledgement and assumption of risk and release for my heirs, estate, executioner, administrator, assignees, and all members of my family. I have read and understand this document and execute it as a free and voluntary act. Further, this document and the terms hereof are contractual and not a mere recital.
