5 To the Philippines By: Meghan Do you want to travel with me to the Philippines? I am a traveler who loves to go to many different places and especially islands! The Philippines is one of my favorites, so I decided to tell you about my interesting trips. First of all, let s talk about the climate. Over there it is extremely hot, and you almost have to shower every day since you get really sweaty. Don t worry if you don t have a car because they have something almost like taxis but they are called Jeepneys. In Manilla you can find a small monkey named a tarsier. It has really big eyes with a long tail. Manilla is the capital of the Philippines. Money is different in the Philippines. The money is called pesos. The people that don t have much money can afford small houses in the Philippines which are mostly made out of stone. What I loved is that the beaches were really nice. The Philippines was an amazing trip! I can t wait to go there again! The Egypt Game By Evelyn Have you ever heard of a book called the Egypt Game? The setting is not in Egypt at all, but it is a super good book. This book is about three characters, April, Melanie, and Marshall who have a wild imagination. They go into a stranger s intriguing backyard and begin a game based around Egypt. They are fascinated with the mysteries of Egypt and their personalities are complemented by the active imagination of all three characters. The children teach their parents a lesson that you should not judge people based on rumors. I really enjoyed this book! My favorite part was when April, Melanie, Elizabeth, Ken, and Toby are dancing around a sarcophagus and sprinkling ashes over their bodies. My favorite character is April because she is very sweet but can get aggressive if someone says something mean or teases her. The Egypt Game is a great book. I think many kids would enjoy reading it and I recommend the book to anyone who is 9 12 years old and loves ancient learning about ancient civilizations and their mysteries.
