Principal s Message What a wonderful football season!! The Football team and Cheerleaders have exhibited great sportsmanship in all their games and that in itself is a victory. The old saying holds true it is not whether you win or lose that counts but how you play the game! The experience of being part of a group, whether it is a sports team or club, teaches our young people the core value of hard work, patience, and perseverance. The day to day balancing of practices, meetings and schoolwork helps them to build the skills of being organized and teaches them how to budget their time. I encourage all of our students to get involved in school activities and take advantage of clubs and sport opportunities that SHCS has to offer. I invite all of our families to attend a SHCS sporting event or club sponsored activity and support their fellow students. We just can t hide our Eagle Pride!!! Blessings, Ms. Susan Harris, Principal Sacred Heart School Pictures Picture Day is Wednesday, October 19 Get ready for Picture Day! 3 The Catholic Church has dedicated the month of October to pray the Rosary in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. Pope St. Pius V introduced the feast day in 1571 in gratitude for the protection Mary gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful. The practice of dedicating the entire month of October to the Holy Rosary developed toward the end of the last century. Together with the universal Church, Sacred Heart Catholic School is very excited to begin a Living Rosary for the month of October. The Living Rosary is a special way to join our prayers with those of others, through the powerful prayer of Our Lady s Rosary. This is the way that it works: Each SHCS family and classroom will be assigned one decade of the Rosary to recite faithfully and at any time each day. A Rosary is made up of 20 decades, so the most important thing to know is that nineteen other families decades will join with yours to form a Living Rosary. Furthermore, each family will receive all the graces from the prayers of all the families who participate in the Sacred Heart School Living Rosary. Imagine all the graces your family will receive from just saying one decade of the Rosary! Parents, if you have friends or relatives who would like join our Living Rosary, you are welcome to come by Sr. Faustina's room to pick them up or send a note with your child to school. In this month of the Holy Rosary, let us consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a mean to draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation and to obtain the graces for the needs and intentions of our families. Sr. Faustina Vu, OP

4 Support Your School Box Top News We Collect BOX TOPS Hello everyone, It is Mrs. Noyola. If you are new to the school, I am the Label coordinator for Sacred Heart. Labels are collected throughout the school year. Starting this week they will be collected every Thursday. Almost all labels have a cash value. It is a wonderful way for students to see how each and every one of them can make a difference. If students work together as a class, team, or school; much can be accomplished! We collect Box Tops($0.10), Tyson labels($0.25), and Community Labels($0.10/$0.50). I know these values don't seem like much but when everyone participates they add up really fast. I give away prizes every week to anyone who turns in labels. There are two prize boxes. There will be monthly contest as well. 10+ labels = large prize box under 10 labels = small prize box It's the time of the Year in which I have to turn in Box Tops to General Mills. Please look at your Box Tops, if they are going to expire soon turn them in. Students do not get credit for expired labels. Kroger Do you shop at Kroger? You can shop and support Sacred Heart School at the same time. Signup through the link below and link your Kroger Card to Sacred Heart. Anyone can sign up to support Sacred Heart Catholic School-Crosby (77532) at Once you sign up on the website, whenever you shop, a small percentage is returned to the school. Sacred Heart Catholic School Organization #: Thank you for participating and giving back to our community. MyCokeRewards MyCokeReward points, we now have 16,900 points. Thank you very much! Contest: Downright Scary It would be Downright Scary if our school didn't collect Box Tops!
