1 Co-Recreational T-Ball Girls Softball May 7-July 5, 5:30-6:30pm Register for or practice Games rotate among all practice locations/practice days Ages 5-7 Canaday or AMBUCS West and are scheduled by the coach Practices begin the week of April 30 Games are played in Rantoul starting the week of May 21 This program is coached by volunteers Ages 7-12 Have a blast with your friends and learn baseball fundamentals. Beginners and more experienced players will have a great time building skills together. Confidence and skill building are stressed in this instructional program. Volunteer coaches provide instruction. One game of the season will be played under the lights at Canaday field. Parents may be asked to bring snacks to games. Practice days and site are assigned on a first come-first serve basis. No T-Ball May 28 or July 4. Girls will develop and fine-tune softball skills including hitting, fielding and pitching. Registration is based on the participant s age as of May 1, The season may be extended, depending on rainouts or make-up games. A copy of each participant s birth certificate must be presented in person at registration or sent by to kamills@urbanaparks.org. No softball May 28 or July 4. Games begin the week of May 7 and are held on weekday evenings throughout the summer, located in Urbana and neighboring communities. 2 Youth Basketball Practices: Weekday Evenings, January 22-March 15, Urbana Elementary Schools Games: Saturdays, February 3-March 17, /Leonard Recreation Center Grades 3-8 Practices are weekday evenings at the coaches convenience between 6:15-8:45 pm at Urbana elementary schools. Teams are guaranteed one practice per week. For Junior Boys and Junior Girls, please sign up for your first choice of practice site. Depending upon enrollment, teams may be combined. For all other levels, practice site is determined after assessment. A coach will contact you to let you know your team and first practice time. If the schools are closed for any reason, practice will not be held. Jersey Fee: $16- Players can purchase their Jersey at Brookens Gym. Call to set up a time to pick up a jersey for your child. Games are played Mondays starting at 6pm. Get your team of three men and three women together for a 10-game round robin regular season. The winning team gets a League Champion T-shirt and bragging rights. Then play a single elimination, first-round consolation tournament. Tournament champions will hoist their trophy as the season concludes. Teams must submit a completed roster and full payment with registration. Team Managers Meeting: Thursday, January 11 at 6pm,. If we have an odd number of teams, the season may be extended to get every team 10 games before the tournament. No Games on March 19. 3 Co-Recreational Indoor Soccer Wednesdays, January 10-February 14 Grades 5-8: 5:45-7:15pm Grades 9-12: 7:15-8:45pm Kids learn skills through drills and play cross-court or full-court with indoor balls and goals. Catch up or keep up with the fundamentals without risking frostbite. Players of all skill levels can benefit from this program as they sharpen their skills and work as a team. All teams are coached by volunteer coaches and soccer games are held on Saturdays or weekday evenings. Sign up for your preference of practice site. Depending upon enrollment, teams may be combined, and you may not receive your first choice. If you are switched to a different location, you will be contacted by the park district. Practices are at the coaches discretion during spring break March Co-Rec Strikers, Middle School Boys, and Intermediate Girls leagues play with the Champaign Park District, and will play most games at Brookens or Dodds Soccer Complex in Champaign. Every child must wear an Urbana Park District reversible jersey (blue and gold) for games. Purchase these at the Phillips Recreation Center during regular business hours for $16 each. Volunteer Coaches Needed Adult volunteers coach our youth sports programs such as T-Ball, basketball, and soccer. Without our volunteer coaches, we do not have leaders for your child s team. As a volunteer, you will spend 3-4 total hours per week leading practices through drills and skill building exercises and coaching games (that you go to already). Training resources are provided for each sport including discussions on skills, strategies, and policies. We can even match you with another parent and you can co-coach. Parents interested in helping should call , or fill out a Volunteer Application online at Volunteer as head coach for your child s team and receive a refund for your child s fee once the season is complete. Applies to all youth sports teams except Wood Bat league.

4 Open Gym Open Gym Basketball Sundays, January 7-April 29 Ages 5-14: 1-3pm, : 3-5pm Bring a photo ID and follow all Urbana Park District rules and regulations. Open gym may be canceled occasionally for special events. Signs will be posted at no less than one week prior to the cancellation. Visit the athletics section of www. urbanaparks.org for a complete Open Gym schedule. No Open Gym March 18 & 25 and April 1. Open Gym Pickleball Tuesdays & Thursdays, January 9-May 17, 9-11am New players are welcome! Open gym may be canceled on occasion for special events. When Open Gym will be canceled, signs will be posted at no less than one week prior to the cancellation. Open Gym Volleyball Fridays, January 5-April 27, 5:45-8:45pm Bring your enthusiasm and equipment to on Friday evenings for some volleyball action! Practice for an upcoming game with your team, or just come out solo and join others with the same love of the game in a casual atmosphere. 5 Urbana Park District Adult Sports of Conduct Participants are expected to follow all Urbana Park District rules, regulations, and this code of conduct. The following code of conduct has been developed to ensure that all participants exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. All athletic programs are intended to provide a safe and fun recreational environment for the participants. 1. All teams and individuals must show respect to other participants, officials and staff members; including volunteers. Respect all the equipment and the facilities/ fields. 2. Follow all Urbana Park District program rules and regulations. 3. The use of abusive or foul language is not permitted. 4. Any unnecessary physical contact towards another player, staff, coach, official, or spectator is not allowed. This also includes verbal threats/abuse. 5. Participants should refrain from participation in unlawful activities. The Urbana Park District reserves the right to suspend or remove a participant or team from a program for a violation of the code of conduct. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.
