Please check the Mark your Calendars section on the last page for upcoming dates and deadlines! Wednesday, 3/25: Flag football game 4:30 pm Thursday, 3/26: PTSO meeting 6:00 pm Soccer game 4:30 pm Friday, 3/27: $1 Dress Down Day Skate Night 6-8 pm HAMS 2nd Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction April 10, pm Comfort Suites 5421 West Waters Ave Wine and light appetizers, lots of great baskets to bid on and fun with other HAMS families and friends! Tickets are on sale now! The last day to purchase a ticket is April 6th. Tickets are $25 for non-ptso Members & $20 for PTSO Members. You can still become a member! Tickets are available for purchase at the PTSO meeting on Thursday, March 26th or on the PTSO website in the E-Store or by filling out the auction ticket sales flyer in the forms section and turning it in to your teacher.

2 March FSA Testing Schedule The testing schedule has been posted to the PTSO website. If there are changes to the schedule the revisions will be posted once we are notified. March 23: Grades 3-4 PBT FSA ELA Part I 80 minutes Grades 1-2 SAT-10 Join HAMS Choir! 3 Don t forget Skate Night this Friday from 6-8 pm at Skate World (7510 Paula Dr., Tampa, 33615). Entrance is $5 and includes free skates. Don t forget to mention you are with HAMS so they can give us back a portion of your admission. It s always a fun night! Purchase your auction ticket by March 26th you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win 2 tickets to see George Lopez on April 4th at Ruth Eckerd Hall! If you have already purchased your tickets you are already entered to win. Join HAMS Choir! Open to Grades 3-8 Afterschool from 3:30-4:30 in Room 231 March 24, 30 April 6, 14, 20, 28 May 4, 12, 18 There will be a concert the last week of May.

4 P A G E 4 Teacher s Gift of Time Teachers are donating to the auction too! They are donating a Gift of Time to the auction. The gifts are fun experiences that the kids can have with their teachers either after school or during lunch. There will be a Gift of Time wall at the Silent Auction so you can bid on the experience. Here are some experiences: Ms. DeStefano is auctioning a trip to see the Tampa Yankees play with 2 friends. Ms. Johnson will take a student and a friend out for ice cream. Ms. Gallagher will have cocoa and books with 4 students at Starbucks. Or a student can be the Principal or Vice Principal for the day! Thank you Cooper's Hawk Wine Tasting, Hooters, Tampa Theater, and Cheesecake Factory, Cox Media Group, Froyo, Gold and Diamond Source, Roy s, Columbia Restaurants, School Tool Box, and Cason Photography for your donations! Important Auction Information: We will be using a mobile bidding system this year. You can access this through any smart phone or wifi enabled device (ipad, tablet, itouch, etc.). Wifi connection will be available at the hotel.

Please contact Angela Dodd or the PTSO if you would be interested in donating. The Silent Auction Raffle items include a flat screen TV, a wine basket and a Google Android tablet! Raffle tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the PTSO meeting on March 26th or the night of the auction. There is also a 50/50 raffle with tickets costing $1 that will be sold at the auction. Another huge THANK YOU to Comfort Suites for offering a discounted rate of $69.99 for the night of the Silent Auction! We will be getting together at Jo Ann s house to finish putting the baskets together from all the donated items. We will be meeting at Jo Ann's house on Tuesday, March 24th. Please sign up on the PTSO website. We will the address to volunteers prior to the event. Also, if you have any ribbon, clear plastic wrap or baskets of any size to donate, please bring it or leave it a the front desk at school by Wednesday.

Pictures taken on phones will not work, but all others are welcome! Upload pictures: community.lifetouch.com and register with the following access code: TXQHRB Please include a description of each photo is so that committee can ensure photos make it to the right section of the yearbook. I m glad I didn t buy a yearbook said NO ONE! Less than 2 weeks left to order a yearbook! The deadline is quickly approaching! Don t let your kids come home upset when yearbooks are delivered and they did not get one. The books have great pictures and memories that the kids love! The last day to order is April 1st. The Book Fair will be held May 11-15th. 5th Grade Move Up Day (daytime) and 8th Grade Graduation (evening) are June 4th! Make sure you buy a yearbook by April 1st for your graduating student! Lost and Found: Have your children check for their stuff! Items that have been there longer than a month will be donated. Lunch boxes are located in the cafeteria, valuable or small items (head bands, etc.) are at the front desk, and coats, sweaters, pants, etc. are in front of the Media Center. There are 2 sets of car keys at the front office. Consider purchasing a yearbook for your teacher! Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4th Math 8th.

8 Ms. Halsor s Bulletin Board: The Life Cycle of a HAMS Volunteer. Make sure you check the volunteer tab on the PTSO page regularly for volunteer opportunities. We are always adding additional opportunities! Each family is required to volunteer 10 hours per year! If you are looking for opportunities outside of regular business hours, please consider helping to get donations for the Silent Auction. Also, you get 1 hour for each PTSO meeting you attend. New spots recently added: We need judges, score keepers and time keepers to help with Battle of the Books in May.

9 Busch Gardens has extended the deadline to sign up for Grad Nite to April 1st!! 8th graders transitioning into high school can attend the Busch Gardens Grad Night on May 1st from 7 p.m. until midnight. The cost is $53.50 per student and includes rides, DJs, live entertainment and dinner. Busch Gardens is open exclusively for 8th graders that night. Flyers are available on the PTSO website. Please return a completed form to child s homeroom teacher by April 1st. Parents are needed to chaperone and transport to and from Busch Gardens. There will be a parent sign up on the website closer to the event. For every 10 paid kids there will be a free chaperone. For more information, please contact Susan Faris at The members of the Dad s Club have put a lot of work to find the storage shed, get it delivered and set up. The shed will be used to store the Haunted House supplies and give Coach Cooney some extra storage space for sports equipment. Thank you to everyone involved for all you did!

10 Don t forget the opportunities to help us collect Free Money This money really adds up quickly and we have already been able to purchase a lot from these programs! Please continue to turn in Coke Rewards: Every point counts towards free money for the school. Codes can be found on the packaging of your favorite Coca-Cola brands, including Powerade and Dasani water. Codes are located under caps, inside the tear-off on 12-packs and on multi-pack wraps. We also participate in the Tyson Project A+ Program, a fund-raising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. Just clip and collect Tyson Project A+ labels from Tyson products. Send the labels to school with your child. We ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods. Archery has been added to the after-school activities in May for 3-8th graders! There are a few Middle School spots available. If you have a 3-5th grader that missed a chance to sign up please Ms. Morgan at to be placed on the waiting list.
