1 From the Principal Dear St. Paul School Families, The students and staff of St. Paul School would like to wish you an early Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. We have so much for which to be thankful. In particular, we would like to thank all of our families for your constant support of our school. We couldn t do what we do without your on-going contributions and prayers. We truly appreciate your help! Our event-filled school year has been moving along with great tributes for the students. Please let me share with you some of our successes: 1. On November 9, during the Camden Catholic High School Academic Competition, seventh grade student, Emma Tomczynski scored in the top fifteen overall. Congratulations to Emma and to all competing students! 2. On November 10 our eighth grade students participated in the Trenton Catholic Academy Academic Competition. They competed against six other Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese in the areas of Art, English, History, Mathematics, Religion, Science, and Spelling. Congratulations! 3. Members of our Eighth grade Class completed service hours by donating their time at the Masonic Home of Burlington. We are very proud of our students for the contributions they make to the community with their many service projects. 4. The STREAM Program has been initiated in the 6-8 th grades. This after school program brings together aspects of science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and math as the students work on prescribed challenges. 5. The students completed their Walk-a-Thon on October 31, raising over $6, to help keep St. Paul School Strong. Thank you PTA for organizing this event. YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND OUR UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS: Sunday, November 20 (9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the cafeteria) Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar (with Christmas Crafters and Marketplace) Please join us as we celebrate the start of the Christmas Season! Emergency Contact Cards A big thank you to our 8th graders who have volunteered to help transport wheelchair residents at the Masonic Home to and from their monthly mass! National Junior Honor Society will have tutoring today from 3:00-4:00pm in Mrs. Murray s room. Pink emergency contact cards were sent home and asked to be filled out and returned to school. If you have not filled out the cards and returned them, please do so immediately. It is very important that emergency contact information is kept up to date in the main office, the principal s office and the nurse s office. NJHS has their next monthly meeting on November 30th from 3:00-4:15 pm. Breakfast with Santa St. Paul School is chartering a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) chapter. We would like to invite any 6-8 grade students to join this group to meet and plan STEM projects with Mr. Fee on Thursday afternoons, 3:00-4:15pm. The benefits of being part of STEM are: compete in challenging STEM competitions, career and skill development, teamwork and presentation skills and service project opportunities. We are very excited to offer STEM to our students. The first meeting will be Thursday, November 3 at 3:00-4:15pm. We invite parents to also meet at this time to find out more. There is a fee of $13 per Our annual Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday, November 20. This event is usually a sell-out, so get your ticket order in early. There are seats still available for the 10:30am seatin. Bring the family to have a picture taken with Santa (for an additional fee), enjoy breakfast and start some Christmas shopping at the bazaar (open from 9:00am-1:00pm). Please see the order form in today s weekly news to order tickets. The Bazaar will take place in the school gym, 9:00am 1:00pm. There will be a variety of crafters and vendors here with great gift items to start your holiday shopping! 2
3 SPS STUDENT/ALUMNI CRAFTING OPPORTUNITY Saint Paul School Do you know an enthusiastic student/alumni crafter or entrepreneur with a skill they want to showcase? This year at our Annual Christmas Crafters and Marketplace on November 20th we would like to open up a few crafting tables for our current students and recent high school/college aged alumni for an opportunity to display their entrepreneurial skills. There are only 3-6 slots available depending on whether you want a table to yourself for $20 (discount from the general crafter's fee) or you can split the table with a fellow student crafter and split the cost (just $10 each for one table). We are encouraging students to pursue their dreams of showcasing their skills and maybe making a little money at the same time. A parent or guardian MUST commit to supervising the student crafter to provide support, guidance and safety throughout the Marketplace. Please see the application in this week's "weekly news" tab for more information or contact Joann Ruczynski at sable0071@verizon.net (Examples of acceptable crafts or skill: loom bracelets, bows, beaded bracelets, cupcakes, chocolates, pom poms, hair accessories, etc.) Tag Tree Help is needed with donations for the tag tree at our annual Christmas Marketplace and Breakfast with Santa. If you have any unopened toys, coloring books, puzzles, even dollar store items that you are able to donate we would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. Please send in any items to the main office marked tag tree. As always, THANK YOU for your support!! Please see the flyer in today s weekly news for more information. Christmas Wreath Sale Our 8 th grade class will be selling Christmas wreaths to help offset the cost of their graduation trip in May. There are 2 wreath styles available: plain with a red bow ($20.00) or decorated with pine cones and a red bow ($25.00). Orders must be received by December 3 rd. Pick-up will be on Saturday, December 10 at St. Paul School cafeteria, 10:00-11:30am. Please see the order form in today s brown envelope to place an order. 3
