7 Southside students truly are WILD about learning Nurse Walding announced on Monday morning that our yearbooks are now on sale in the front office. Can anyone say ELECTION TIME?? Mrs. Masters orchestrated a Mock election for our Southside students on Tuesday morning. Let me just say that we had a fantastic turn-out and the Proposition for more pizza and hamburgers passed with flying colors!! Thank you Mrs. Masters for making this event a huge success! As for the middle of the week, Southside turned all of its attention to the Benchmark tests. On Wednesday, our 3 rd grade students completed their ELA Benchmark. On Thursday, our 2 nd and 3 rd grade students completed their Math Benchmarks. On Friday, Mrs. Hazel, Mrs. Dorsett, and Mrs. Paul presented our Veterans Day Program at 8:30. We had a Fantastic Time and a Great Turnout! I would like to thank Mrs. Hazel, Mrs. Dorsett, and Mrs. Paul for making this such a SPECIAL event. MANY THANKS TO OUR VETERANS! Stephen Cooksey Principal 7
8 This week we begin our fourth Character Word Study,"Forgiveness." Students learn the definition and practice scenerios for knowing and using this character trait. Our MegaBlast party is Friday. Students who sold 5 items (which is almost everyone) during our fundraiser get to participate in the bounce house event. Kindergarteners are decorating 10-inch paper feathers to add to our huge turkey in the hall in preparation for Thanksgiving. He will be the most handsome Tom in the District. Mrs. Conner and her Tier II students do Brain Gym activities each morning in the cafeteria before dismissal to go to class. First grade students began before-school Brain Gym activities in the gym this week. Mrs. Bradley and her leadership team are providing Brain Gym activities for classroom teachers to use for specific subjects, as well. Educators know these exercises are beneficial. Students say they are just fun. Students are learning God Bless the USA in preparation for our Veterans Day Program and November PTO and 6 year olds singing this song is quite a blessing. The Veterans Day Program is on Monday, November 12th, 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. 8 Barbara Dutton, Principal
9 WASHINGTON EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER Staff and students celebrated the 50th Day of School with activities that lasted the whole day. Started our morning counting, graphing, sorting to 50. Then we had a great time at our 50 s Sock Hop. Lots of dancing and Hula Hooping was going strong. We all ended our day with a super delicious Root Beer Float. We all can t wait for the 100th day of school. Update on our Fall Vegetable Garden: Cabbages, spinach, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli are all growing. We will be harvesting the turnip and mustard greens next week. The students sure do have green thumbs at Washington! THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VETERANS FROM ALL OF US AT WECC. 9 Ms. Herrington, Principal
