6 FAQs What shoes, clothes & accessories do we need? All information about what to wear can be found in the Uniform Guidelines section of this Go To Guide. Make-up is not required. Most items can be purchased at Caloundra HQ shop during office opening hours. Do the students arrive to the venue with wearing their uniform and hair done? Yes, students need to be fully dressed and have hair done before arriving. Exact requirements can be found in the Uniform Guidelines section of this Go To Guide. My child is in more than one show. Will I have to purchase multiple tickets? This year we are offering an ALL DAY ticket for attendees viewing more than one show (further information is in ticket pricing section of this guide). This is a discounted ticket to ensure that all costs associated are affordable for all families. Do children get to watch the show between dances or after they have performed? Students are welcome to sit with their parents and watch the show between dances. Students watching will need to have selected a Dancer s ticket (Free) to sit in the audience (this ensures we allocate enough seating for all involved). Please note that it is up to parents to ensure that their child is backstage ready to go for their dance/s. Staff will not be coming to collect students who are not backstage ready. Please note that parents of students will need to come and sign students out if taking them inside to watch performances after/between dances. Whilst students are waiting to perform there will be a student watching area at the front. If parents wish to collect their child after their performance to sit with their family, please select a dancer ticket when purchasing your tickets. Should I purchase a ticket for my child? If I don t, where will they be when they re not performing? Dancer s tickets are free to purchase for students to sit and watch the show that they are performing in. Students who don t have a Dancer s ticket will be required to wait backstage until a parent or guardian comes to collect & sign student out. Whilst students are waiting to perform there will be a student watching area at the front. If parents wish to collect their child after their performance to sit with their family, please select a dancer ticket when purchasing your tickets. Can my child sit on my lap in the audience after performing? No, children are not permitted to sit on a parent s lap due to fire and safety regulations. If you would like your child to sit with you when they have finished performing, you will need to select them a ticket (dancer tickets are free when reserved). Children Under 2 are free. Children over 2 (siblings and relatives) require a paid child s ticket. Can I take photos & video during the performance? No photography or videography of any kind is permitted within the venue or during performances. This is due to child safety and privacy laws & 6
7 regulations. Any one attempting to do so will be asked to delete the footage and may be asked to leave the venue. A photographer will be there on the day to take photos of performances on stage and will be shared with all families free of charge afterwards. Can I purchase a ticket at the venue on the day? Is seating allocated? Tickets are limited so we advise pre-purchasing them through the Trybooking link when tickets go on sale. We can t guarantee that there will be tickets available for purchase to the venue on the day. No allocated seating, attendees may select their own seats once the doors open. Can I purchase a ticket from reception at Caloundra HQ? No. All tickets must be purchased through the Trybooking link as this is the way tickets for the Mid Year Showcase are sold. Does my child have to perform? Is this event compulsory? This is not a compulsory event but we highly recommend your participation as your child gains so much confidence performing in front of an audience which is a fantastic life experience and part of their dance journey. Please note that we require permission notes to be returned circling Yes or No to advise whether your child/ren will be participating or not. Do I have to attend the showcase or can I drop my child off and come back after? Parents and guardians are welcome to drop off students and come back. Please note that ALL students need to be signed in AND out by the person dropping off & picking up. Parents are not to leave children to walk in to the venue by themselves without signing in and out. My child attends classes at Talara & Caloundra HQ. Are they performing at the Showcase as well? Yes, all students from all our classes and locations are invited to perform at the Mid Year Showcase. What is the process for carpool to and from the venue? There will be a sign in and sign out sheet situated at the entrance of the venue. When signing students in, please tell designated staff of whom you will be taking home with you on the day so that they can note it next to the list of children. When signing out, the children that you are taking with you must also be signed out. It is up to each to family to organise any carpooling to and from the venue. Also, when the kids arrive, will someone help them dress and find their place being that my child does two classes? When you arrive & sign in your child, there will be staff to take students backstage. Students are required to come ready to go with correct hair & uniform. If students have more than one dance staff will help them change shoes and get them side stage again ready for their next piece. Can the children bring electronics to keep them occupied between dances? We ask that NO electronic devices be brought backstage as there is limited room backstage and it will be very busy. The Mid Year Showcase is also a shorter running performance than the End of Year Concert. Whilst students are waiting to perform there will be a student watching area at the front. If parents wish to collect their child after their performance to sit with their family, please select a dancer ticket when purchasing your tickets. Please note that it is up to parents to ensure that their child is backstage ready to go for their dance/s. Staff will not be coming to collect students who are not backstage ready. 7
