1 2016 Recital Showcase Packet- Dance for a Wish *This Pack is also available online! Dress Rehearsal and Showcase Tips 1. All dancers should have their hair up and secured. (Use hairspray and bobby pins to get a clean look.) 2. Wear stage make-up that is heavier than everyday make-up so your face will show up on stage. 3. Please see the list regarding what color tights and shoes you should wear. Please only wear these tights during picture week and recital week. It is a good idea to purchase an extra pair of tights. 4. Female dancers should not wear underwear. Please just wear your tights and costume. If the costume is seethrough then please purchase proper dance undergarments/nude leotard. 5. Please bring a bag that is labeled with your name. All items inside should also be labeled including shoes and costumes. Dancers may want to bring a blanket to sit on and some games to play or books to read to keep them busy. They can also bring Clean Snacks ex. water, crackers, cheese. We will have a lost and found box. Any items left will be brought back to the studio. You may pick them up during the SUMMER DANCE SESSION. 6. Remember to bring all necessary shoes. (Combo s need ballet and tap or tennis shoes and tap) Ballet shoes must be pink and bows must be tucked in. Tap shoes must be black. 7. Younger students should come already dressed in costume and ready to dance. There will be dressing rooms for older dancers. 8. Many costumes need straps sewn, which you should have finished by picture day (April 18-21). Some costumes may need alterations. Please make sure that pant length is above the heel of shoe. Pants that are too long are very dangerous to perform in. If you are in need of alterations we recommend Denise Cook at We run a finale at the end of the show. This is for all dancers! At the end of the performance, parents should exit through the front of the theater and meet their child around back in the green room to pick them up. (This is the same place you should drop them off before the show! There are 3 dressing rooms. They will have a list of dances posted on each door. Please find your dance. There will be backstage mothers assigned to each class for supervision.) Please see the Dress Rehearsal Order List that is included in the packet. It will tell you what time and day your class meets at TCA for Rehearsal. We do not charge you for dress rehearsal practice. Dress Rehearsals, May 31 and June 1. Mandatory for all dancers! Please see the Recital Showcase list that is included in this packet. It will tell you what performance(s) you are dancing in. The dress rehearsal and performances are at Tecumseh Center for the Arts. Please do not be late! Please arrive 30 minutes early. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS! All account balances must be up to date by May 19 in order for your child to perform in the recital showcase. All dancers MUST attend the Dress Rehearsal in order to perform in the recital. Also, all dancers cannot miss more than 3 classes beginning the week of April 18th in order to perform in the recital. Any dancer that misses more than 3 will not be prepared to perform on stage. We WILL NOT send any dancer on stage unprepared. Thank you for your understanding! The studio will be closed on May 30th for Memorial Day.

2 FAQ* Why does my child only dance in one of the performances? Answer- Because of the popularity of the studio we need to have 4 performances. If we put everyone together we would have a 6-hour show and sold out tickets. We divide up the majority of the classes among the 4 performances. This is a benefit because: 1. We have fewer dancers in the dressing rooms (safety!) 2. Everyone can buy tickets. 3. Our shows are less then 3 hours each. 4. When a child misses a weekly dance class they can attend another class that is practicing the same dance as a make-up. (Advance classes dance in all four performances.) FAQ* Why aren t my children dancing in the same performance? Answer-We try our best when deciding which classes dance in which shows. Because we have so many families that take multiple dance classes it is extremely difficult to schedule an entire family to dance in the same performance. We do the best we can. We appreciate your understanding! TICKETS- You may purchase tickets through the Tecumseh Center for the Arts, 400 N. Maumee, Tecumseh, MI , Adult $15, children $10, seniors $10 by reserved seats only. Please see the attached order form. Order Forms: Mail or Drop off: April 26-May 3rd. Office Hours: Noon to 5:00 pm, Closed Mondays. On May 6th, Door Sales, Phone and On-line Sales will open. Every order is subject to a $2.00 processing fee. Additional fees for credit card sales. VOLUNTEERS- Recital Volunteers get a FREE TICKET VOUCHER. This is our way of thanking you for your help. Make sure to pick up your volunteer letter from the office for information on your specific job. PHOTO SHOW-We are looking for photos that have been taken of the dancers this year in class or at performances. We will accept them through only! Please just pick 2 or 3 of your very favorite and them to the studio encoredanceadrian@frontier.com. Please do not give us pictures printed out or on a disk. Thank you! We cannot accept any pictures after May 19th because we will already be finished putting together the Picture Show. RECITAL SHOWCASE CLASS PHOTOS- Best Ever Media will be taking photos during class time Mon-Thurs, April shoots during class time provides convenience for parents and allows teachers to be available for posing. Those parents wanting additional instruction for their children during this time are encouraged to utilize our make-up policy. Everyone is welcome to attend class photos even if you are not purchasing a photo package. Please have order form filled out and payment included BEFORE photo time. DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS- Auditions for the Elite and Performance team are open to all serious dancers ages 6 (by November) & up. Dancers must study ballet and jazz (Some teams will be performing hip hop and lyrical/contemporary). If you are interested please attend the audition on Wednesday, May 4th. Ages 6-12 from 4:30-5:45 PM and ages 13 & up, 5:45-7:00 PM. Tap for all ages will be from 4:10-4:30. Please bring both ballet and jazz shoes (pointe shoes if you dance on pointe). Hair should be up in a bun. Leotard and tights for ballet (and optional jazz shorts for jazz) are recommended. No jewelry or gum! The audition will be like a shortened dance class. No prepared dance is needed. There is a $25 audition fee to hold your place on the team. Those dancers that are not chosen to be a part of the team will have audition fee refunded. ( Dance team will be having additional practice this day. All teams members from should plan to be there from 4:30-7:00.) RECITAL SHOWCASE DVD s-best Ever Media will be videotaping our recital. An order form is available online at DVD s will be available for pick-up at the studio in July. We will send out an when they are ready. As always, videotaping will not be allowed during the recital performances on June 2-4. However, you will be allowed to videotape the dress rehearsal if you keep the cameras to the back of the auditorium. Thanks! Please direct all inquiries regarding the videos to Best Ever Media NOT Encore Dance Studio! TROPHIES-All dancers that perform in the recital will receive their very own trophy! Students dancing for 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17 years will receive the same trophy. Students that are in their 3 rd, 5 th, 7 th, 10 th,13 th, 15 th recital will receive a special trophy. The number of recitals the dancer has participated in at Encore Dance Studio determines the number of years a dancer has danced in order to receive that years trophy. Trophies will be handed out during the last few weeks of classes before recital. Showcase T-Shirts We will be selling Showcase T-Shirts at the studio for $32. Please have all orders in by April 21st. You have the option of having your name printed on the back (extra $5).
