2 WELCOME FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO, CHRISTOPHER D ADDARIO Thank you for providing The Joffrey Ballet School the opportunity to serve your family this summer. It has been a privilege to serve families for more than 60 years, providing a fun, learning-enriched experience for all of our dancers. We are so excited about what we have planned for the summer 2018 at JBS. It is our desire to communicate effectively with all our families. To manage your expectations, we are here to answer your questions and provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your child is in great hands at The Joffrey Ballet School. You have chosen to embark on a journey to expand your knowledge, refine your technique and push your comfort zone. We are here to share everything we ve learned over our collective years of training, performing and teaching with you. Every day we will assist you to move forward and up. That is when the learning really begins. I am thrilled to share with you our vision of the Jazz & Contemporary Program. This program is designed to detail and define the contemporary dancer, a newness that provides the skill sets needed to be successful in this career -- spanning the full spectrum of commercial and concert dance. Your teachers cannot wait to dance with you, explore with you and create with you our version of these masterpieces of ballet storytelling. Together we will transform the studios into a magical land filled with Fairies and Swan Princess, Kings and Queens, Royal Steeds and Firebirds. We are anxious and excited to begin our journey of sharing the vast knowledge our faculty is eager to impart. Welcome! MIAMI INTENSIVES It is with tremendous excitement that I welcome you to the Magic City for the Joffrey Ballet School Miami Fusion Intensive. Our studios located in the heart of the Magic City s Wynwood Arts district will excite you, the beat of Miami will drive you, and the beauty of this tropical paradise with inspire you to create masterpieces. We will take our dancing to the street for an event we have dubbed Wynwood Wednesday s. Miami is where North and South America collide in a rainbow of color, music and dance. The program was designed to give our Miami dancers a window into techniques and styles familiar and new. You will be nurtured by a truly magically faculty, leaders in the industry, who will challenge, encourage and mentor you to heights beyond your wildest dreams. WELCOME FROM MATTHEW PRESCOTT LONDON INTENSIVE We are thrilled to welcome you to the very first Joffrey Ballet School West End London summer intensive! This unique city is alive with talented people and inventive ideas. It is truly one of the epicenters in the world of arts and so much more. Cultivating this London experience for you is something that we have been looking forward to for a long time! Our curriculum is comprised of classes that will strengthen the entire musical theater skill set. You will study ballet, musical theater/jazz, tap, repertory dance, acting, singing, audition prep, as well as your performance studies class. If you are open to exploring all of the necessary tools you need to achieve success in the world of musical theater, you will have the best time you possibly can! Exclusive and unique to this program, you will train with veteran performer, Ms. Jennifer DiNoia, who starred as Elphaba in both the Broadway and West End productions of Wicked. Her unique insight into what it takes to be a performer in both industries is in invaluable. She is thrilled to work with you and expects you to come energized and focused! WELCOME FROM MATTHEW PRESCOTT LAS VEGAS INTENSIVE We are thrilled to welcome you to the very first Joffrey Ballet School Las Vegas summer intensive! We are eager to explore the world where the concert and commercial dance worlds come together. Cultivating this Las Vegas experience for you is something that we have been looking forward to for a long time! Our curriculum is comprised of classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and theater. Exclusive and unique to this program, you will train with the Dance Captain, Ms. Tiffany Baker, from the Cirque du Soleil show Michael Jackson ONE. Ms. Baker will create a special performance piece with original choreography inspired from the show. We will also create another original production number that will be presented during our informal showing at the end of the week. Students will have master classes with celebrity dancers Lex Ishimoto, Ben Cook, Michael Dameski, and Bobby Newberry. The opportunity to interact and learn from the masters of our trade is an invaluable experience. Come ready with questions for the guided talkback that will take place following each celebrity master class. Thank you for being a part of the first JBS program in Las Vegas! Each year we build upon the legacy of the Joffrey Ballet School and present the best in musical theater education. You have made the choice to take part in an intense program where nothing but 100% is expected. Remember success is in the effort! This is the Ultimate Hip Hop Dance Training Experience in NYC & LA! This intensive is in partnership with Shake the Ground Competition. Character is an international dance in classical ballet. Spanish, Russian, Polish, and many more. it is a very passionate and colorful dance style. Most of the dance pieces carry a story. its fun to watch and definitely fun to dance. This program takes you from dancing barefoot in Africa to dancing Flamenco on the streets of Sevillia, to Argentina dancing Tango, to Character pieces from Don Quixote in character shoes and on pointe, to Latin Fusion on the streets on Cuba. Students get introduced to international dance techniques and traditions from all around the world and learn about each others heritage! I can t wait to work with all of you this Summer!
