2 Notes from the Board Columnist: Millie Mills Your Continental Dance Club offers one of the best opportunities for social ballroom dancing in central Indiana. New people often tell us how impressed they are with the way you all make them feel so welcome. Not only are we fortunate to dance on the best dance floor in town, we provide live music and free dance lessons for beginners and lessons for intermediate and advanced dancers taught by professional instructors for only $4. Where else can you find such a deal?!! You can help continue our 61 year history and keep social ballroom dancing available for CDC Party Barn Dance September 11 Come kick up your heels and dance your boots off. Bring Snacks future generations by sharing your experience with others. I have been a member of the CDC for 27 years and served on the board over 10 years. It has been a very positive experience for me. If you are willing to spend a few hours a month to serve on the CDC board you will help assure that our current and future dance community will continue to thrive. Any present board member will be happy to answer any questions you might have. I will open the floor for nominations to the board beginning the first Sunday in September. Nominees are required to have been a member in good standing for a minimum of one year prior to January Spouses cannot serve at the same time. Please give this your thoughtful consideration. Dance Instruction September From our Dance Instructor Chairman Freda Hutcheson The Continental Dance Club is pleased to announce that our instructor this month will be Marie Roach.

She is known world wide as one of the top Argentine Tango dancers and instructors. Marie will be teaching American Tango during the month of September.

4 Dance Instruction September From our Dance Instructor Chairman Freda Hutcheson The Continental Dance Club is pleased to announce that our instructor this month will be Marie Roach. Marie has been a fixture in the Indianapolis Dance Community for many years and is owner of Riolo Dance Studio in downtown Indianapolis. She is known world wide as one of the top Argentine Tango dancers and instructors. Marie will be teaching American Tango during the month of September. American Tango will also be taught to beginners in the small ballroom by CDC members. Our members choose to volunteer because of their love for dancing. We thank our last month s instructor, Adam Trogdlen for teaching dance techniques, as well as our volunteers, Ben Davis and Alexis McCall, who taught our beginners. Please invite your friends to come and learn to dance or to join us in learning some new dance steps. Both beginning and intermediate dance lessons are available only WITH paid admission to the dance. Please, no video recording of the lesson without permission of the instructor. page 4

We make every effort to keep announcements brief and informative and most members and guests would like to be able to hear them. Thank you! Do you own a business? Consider running an ad in our newsletter or talk to a friend who might be interested in running an ad. Our newsletter reaches more than 300 people and the rates are quite reasonable. Substantial savings in monthly rates can be realized by running an ad for six months or a year. Your ad does not need to be copy ready. We will work with you. Your input is important and this will allow you the opportunity to implement changes that you feel would benefit the Club. See a board member at any time.
