5 October 13, 2017 Burns Flat-Dill City Schools Movie Review Friday the 13th is a horror movie about a killer named Jason Voorhees. Jason was at one point a kid who was sweet, but that all changed once he went to a summer camp called Camp Crystal Lake. Jason got to close to the lake and fell in and drowned. He tried to call out for help but no one was paying attention and he went under and died, or so they thought. Jason comes back, except now he isn t the sweet kid that he was before. Instead he is a ruthless killer seeking revenge on all Camp Crystal Lake counselors. Everyone tries to kill him, but there is no killing Jason. He just keeps coming back and killing the camp counselors. I give this movie 10 out of 10 stars because it really caught my attention. This movie is only for mature audiences because it contains a large amount of gory scenes. Brandon Yates Volume 57 Number 2 Page 5

Jim brought up that Jesus teaches them what is right and what is wrong, and it is their duty to know and be a wit- Lady Eagles took on a new season with a new coach that had a familiar face. Head Coach Ashton Ellis was at BF-DC Schools five years ago as the elementary PE teacher and 5 th and 6 th grade basketball coach. I already knew most of the kids from having them in PE or basketball, so I was excited to come in and take over this program, because I knew what kind of kid they were. The junior high season didn t go well if you look at the win loss column, but that s not what Coach Ellis was concerned with. We re really young, starting 6 seventh graders in some games. My focus was more on being competitive, and we accomplished that in some games. I wanted to see them grow and improve as a player. All but two starters will be returning to the junior high team next year, so Coach Ellis is confident that next years will produce more wins than this years, but more importantly, more growth. The high school team ended the season with a record of 11-18, beating some very quality, top ranked softball teams, such as Shattuck, who made it to ness for Jesus Christ. Throughout the year, FCA will continue to invite preachers to give short lessons during their meetings. The FCA members and other students joined in prayer in the old gym on September 27, 2017 for See You at the Pole along with teachers and adults. They prayed for the United States, school faculty, the weather, and the student body! Alexa Benedict FCA Reporter the state tournament. They were plagued with injuries for some of the season and forced to move the lineup around. When all 15 of the girls showed up with their A game, we were dangerous. Unfortunately we didn t do that all the time, but the times that we did were like magic and the girls were so fun to watch. In the district tournament the Lady Eagles lost to Cheyenne 5-9 in extra innings, beat Selling 8-6, then lost to Cheyenne 5-7, resulting in Cheyenne winning districts and the Lady Eagles season being cut short. It ended way too soon for me. I had plans to take them all the way, but things don t always go the way you plan. Either way, I m proud to be the coach of these fine ladies and I cherish the memories we made this season and I can t wait to see what the future holds for this program. The Lady Eagles graduate 4 seniors, Raven Horn, Caitlin Johnson, Tamika Price, and Jordan Weese. Coach Ellis speaks about her seniors and the impact losing them will have. I graduate four starters, four good starters. That s hard to replace. They all brought something unique and special to this team, they all had their role, Equal Opportunity Policy Published by the Newspaper Class at Burns Flat-Dill City High School P.O. Not only will I miss them as players, but also people and members of my family. As Coach Ellis reflects on her first season here at Burns Flat-Dill City school she s filled with many emotions. I m just so thankful that God gave me this opportunity and opened the door for me to come home and return to BF- DC. I couldn t have done it this year without the help of lots of people. Several parents helped out by donating food, keeping books and supporting these girls. Coach Kauk was a huge help, also! He keeps me calm when I need it most. Another shout out to administrators for their support throughout the season, and to Jason to Uecke for always having our transportation ready to go, as well as providing the power washer for me to wash the girls pants. I m sure there are tons of people I m leaving out, but I hope you know we do appreciate everything you ve done for us.
