1 February 5-9, 2018 The Pocahontas News Black History Month February 1 was not just the beginning of the month, but it is also the beginning of Black History Month. When most people think of February, they think of things that relate to Valentine s Day. But that s not the only thing that happens in February. Black History Month is a month to celebrate all of the African American heroes in history. Each week, there will be an article about one of the great African American heroes. You can also nominate one for us to research and write about. You can write your person down and give it to one of the Jr. Redskin Reporters (Roxy Shoe, Carter Couch, or Avery Walls) -Avery Walls

8 I Have A Crush On You I Have a Crush on You is a fundraiser for the Pocahontas seniors! If you purchase a Crush Soda you will help fundraise for their graduation! If you order, your Crush Soda will be delivered on February 14th!(Valentine s day)!! The deadline to order is February 9th! To order see Mrs. Johnson in the Library, They cost $1.00 each! Also you can pay a dollar to see who has a crush on them!!!!

9 Groundhog Day 2018 Last Friday (February 2) was Groundhog Day 2018! Unfortunately, the groundhog saw his shadow, which means six more long weeks of winter. Some people want more winter, but others are the opposite. If you want winter to last longer, why? If you don t want winter to last longer, why? You can submit your answers to the Jr. Redskin Reporters (Avery Walls, Carter Couch, or Roxy Shoe) and your answers will be in the paper! Before you attend school again you should make sure that you do not have fever or you are throwing up! (you should not be running fever for at least 18 hours without tylenol or any other medicine!!!)
