2 SRE Cheer Camp Principal s Message The staff and I would like to thank our students and parents for a wonderful beginning to the school year. The attendance at kindergarten orientation and open house, as well as the grade level parent nights was excellent! Our students picked up right where they left off after our break in September and they did not miss a beat. They have been trying their best to be good listeners in the classroom and throughout the school. It is very important as we continue through the year for all of us to set good examples for our children. We can do this by reading and studying with them everyday, emphasizing the importance of a good education and supporting school-related activities. It is important to set goals with your child for the rest of the school year and explain your own expectations to your children. Parent involvement has such a positive impact on a child s performance in school and we hope that your involvement will motivate your children to achieve throughout the school year. South Range Elementary Cheer Camp for all K-4 girls will be October 19 & 21 after school until 4:30 p.m. The girls will cheer at the Friday, October 23 football game against Southern Local. More information will be coming home with details about the camp and the game. Student Absences When your child is absent from school, remember to call the office at between 7:20-8:20 a.m. The absence will be marked as unexcused until your child returns to school with a parent note or a doctor s excuse. At that time, the absence will be changed to excused. See page 9 of our Student/ Parent Handbook for more details. Fall Costume Parade All K-4 students may participate in our Fall Costume Parade on Friday, October 30, beginning at 1:00 p.m. This year the students may dress in an appropriate costume. Costumes must be in accordance with our school dress code and may not contain weapons or anything bloody, violent or gory. Sincerely, Steve Matos, Principal Camp Fitch Fourth grade students will attend Camp Fitch on October The cost for camp this year is $ The final payment and forms are due Friday, October 9. Any questions about Camp Fitch, please call the office at

Periodically a guest speaker may be invited to attend the communication meeting that may be of interest or relative to a specific issue. The next meeting will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the K-12 complex library. South Range Middle & High School PTO Newsletter October 2015 PTO Board Members Stacey Willis President Jennifer Frank Vice President Shari Thomas Treasurer Debbie Stratos Secretary Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the PTO! We had a great turnout in September and would love to see even more participation this coming month! PTO meeting for October will be FRIDAY OCTOBER 2, at 1:30 in the middle school conference room. Upcoming Craft Show The largest fundraiser for the Middle School will be coming up on Sunday Nov. 1, Normally we hold this fundraiser in the spring at South Range School, but this year we are trying a different direction. We will be holding the craft show in the fall and moving it off-site to the Maronite Center. We will still need some volunteers, so let us know if you might be able to help! $ MONEY $ for our Students Box Tops Please continue clipping and sending in box tops! South Range receives 10 Cents for every one turned in! Make sure to include your child s name and homeroom teacher with the submission. In addition, visit the box tops website at Once there, sign up! Periodically they offer a chance to win 1000 s of Box Tops for your school! All you have to do is sign up to enter (so easy.). The website also offers recipes and printable coupons! We are doing alright as a school but could be doing better! Please participate to help bring in extra money for the students! Goodsearch Goodsearch is an easy way for families to help South Range PTO earn additional money! Last year we started participating in this program and have brought so far. If we could get additional participation, we could bring in a lot more. I am attaching the flyer explaining the program. Please make sure to review the flyer and sign up. It really is a simple way to bring in money for the children of South Range! Thanks again for all you do for the children of South Range Schools! 9
