2 Carmel High Schl Cheer Requirements & Caches' Expectatins 1. Attendance a. Attendance at all hme and away games is mandatry fr the Varsity squads. The JV squad will cheer ALL hme bys and girls games. This includes games scheduled ver schl breaks. Please refer t the attendance plicy fr mre infrmatin. Any knwn cnflicts must be discussed with yur cach prir t the start f the first practice. b. All cheerleaders are t be at the games at the time specified by the cach. Tardiness will be dealt with at the cach's discretin. c. All knwn cnflicts must be reprted t yur cach by the first practice. Vacatins, cmpetitins, etc. are nt excused absences. d. Fr Varsity nly, cheerleaders will be allwed 1 excused game absence and 1 excused practice absence. If a cheerleader misses any mre than that, they will nt receive their varsity letter. 2. Practices a. Practice times will be: Varsity: * Tuesdays and Thursdays frm 3:45 5:30pm JV: *Mndays and Wednesdays 3:30 5:30pm * Regular JV practices will begin Nvember 6th. * Befre Nvember 6th, ALL squads will practice n Thursdays ONLY. b. Practices start prmptly; tard i ness is unacceptable and will be dealt with n a case-by-case basis. Cheerleaders need t be stretched and ready t begin by the start time f their practice. c. If a cheerleader is sick and des nt attend schl, please cntact yur cach in the mrning via text r . d. Excessive absences r tardiness t practice may result in remval frm squad and failure t letter. e. The caches reserve the right t schedule extra practices if they deem it necessary. f. Wrk is never an acceptable excuse fr missing any cheerleading functin. 3. Unifrms & Appearance a. Each cheerleader is respnsible fr any lst, stlen, r damaged unifrms. Cheerleaders are nt t lan ut their unifrms fr any reasn. b. Unifrms r warm-ups and cheerleading shes are t be wrn when entering game venues. N sweatpants, wrkut pants, sweatshirts, r flip-flps. This includes Uggs.

3 c. Fingernail plish is t be remved and nails are t be cut prir t attending a game. d. Abslutely NO jewelry (this includes belly buttn rings). 4. Transprtatin a. All cheerleaders are required t travel t and frm cntests and events in schl-apprved vehicles (bus r van) under adult supervisin prvided by Carmel High Schl. Extrardinary circumstances shuld be submitted via t the cach fr review prir t the day f the event. b. If the bus is missed, cheerleaders may nt drive themselves t a game. They shuld cntact the cach, and the event will cunt as an unexcused absence. 5. Attitude & Behavir a. It is the expectatin that a cheerleader fr the winter cheer prgram at all times displays behavir that psitively represents Carmel High Schl and the cmmunity bth in and ut f unifrm. b. Cheerleaders are expected t fllw all rules as utlined in the Carmel High Schl Athletic Handbk. This includes the anti-hazing plicy. c. Cheerleaders must maintain gd rapprt with Carmel High Schl staff and administratin. d. The caches reserve the right t: 1. Suspend an athlete frm participatin ("bench") 2. Release an athlete frm the squad 3. Mve a cheerleader frm ne squad t anther e. As is stated in the Athletic Handbk, varsity letters are awarded based n cach's discretin. Therefre, the caches reserve the right t award letters based n specified requirements (see attendance plicy abve). 5. Fundraising a. Winter cheerleaders will hst a cheer camp fr elementary aged yuth in Carmel Clay Schls n January 27 th. This is a MANDATORY activity fr all cheerleaders and caches. b. Cheerleaders may be raising mney thrugh a secnd fundraiser (mre infrmatin at the parent meeting). 6. Athletic Physicals & Cnsent (included in this packet r can be fund n the CHS Athletics webpage) a. During the schl year, all candidates fr athletic teams in Carmel Clay secndary schls (grades 6-12) MUST underg a physical examinatin perfrmed by a licensed medical dctr (MD). b. There are a ttal f six (6) pages that must be submitted t the CHS Athletic Office. The first 4 pages are the IHSAA Physical & Cnsent frm. The next tw

4 (2) pages are the CHS Emergency Medical Infrmatin & Cnsent frm. This frm nw includes the Cncussin Acknwledgement required by Indiana Law. c. IHSAA Physical & Cnsent Frm & CHS Emergency Medical Infrmatin and Cnsent & Release must be turned in rder t participate in tryuts.

5 IMPORTANT DATES & INFORMATION All f the fllwing dates are MANDATORY Octber 2nd Tryut Clinic 7:00-9:00pm Fieldhuse Curt 4 Octber 5 th TRYOUTS Fieldhuse Curt 3 & 4 Shift 1: 4:00-5:30, Shift 2: 6:00-7:30 Yu will have a tryut slt. The first grup will start at 4:00. Reprt t Curt 3; tryuts will take place n curt 4 with Curt 3 as the hlding area. There will be tw shifts f tryuts s that n grup is in the hlding area t lng. Yu will receive yur tryut shift n Octber 2nd. Octber 11 th Unifrm Fittings Main Cafeteria Girls will be fitted n this day fr their unifrms frm 3:45 5:00. Our Varsity Rep, Julie Hrine, will be here n this day t help cheerleaders rder items needed. Parent Meeting will happen n Wednesday, Octber 11th at 5pm in the Main Cafeteria immediately fllwing unifrm fittings. Please cme prepared t write a check fr necessary unifrm items and dues.
