Recommended for ages 2 and up. is best when shared! We ask that caregivers remain with their children at all times. Baby Thursdays, June 7 August 9, Come spend time with your baby and learn about ways to encourage positive mental growth! Recommended for ages 0-24 months; siblings and other children are welcome. Friday Night Out Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Friday, June 1, 4-6pm The fantastic David Landau will be helping us kick off summer with music, entertainment, crafts and fun! Plus free ice cream for the kids generously provided by Culver s. Don t forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Program while you are here! We Built This City! Tuesday, June 5, It s going to rock, so roll on over and help us as we use tubes, straws, and boxes to build a city in the library! Thursday, June 7, Come craft with us! This month we will be making Pony bead sun catchers! Thursday, June 7, 5-6:30pm Snuggle up with a book and a dog! Bring a favorite story or find one here to read aloud to Honey the golden lab she s a great listener. Call (920) to register for your time slot! LEGO Club Thursday, June 14, Come play, build, and explore with LEGOS at the library! We ll provide the LEGO bricks and a snack, you provide the creativity. Photos of your LEGO creations will be displayed on our Facebook page. Make Noise! Tuesday, June 19, Make musical instruments out of everyday items! We will be making maracas, banjos, and hand drums. Thursday, June 21, Do you collect Pokémon cards or want to get started? Come to the library and talk with fellow Pokémon fans about your favorite characters! We will have snacks and space for you to play the Pokémon card game or trade your cards. Family Monday, June 25, 6-7pm Join us at the library for an evening storytime for kids and their families! We will read stories, sing songs, and have a craft or activity at the end. Zoozort Tuesday, June 26, 1-2pm and 2:30-3:30pm Held at the Senior Center (125 N. Dickason Blvd.) Recommended for ages 5+ The always exciting Zoozort will be bringing live animals from around the world right here to Columbus! Join us for one of the two show times and find out what animals they will bring this year!
2 Thursday, June 28, Grades 1-5 Join us for hands-on fun as we use basic materials and our creative minds, to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math! This months: Learn about stop motion movie-making with your own mini video project. Bring your favorite figurine to star, if you like, plus the library will have plenty of props to use. We will do our filming outside if the weather is nice! Get Funky Parade Prep Tuesday, July 3, Come help the library rock out their 4th of July float! We will decorate our float and get things ready for the parade. March With Us in the Parade! Wednesday, July 4 Look for your Columbus Public Library in the parade, or better yet march with us! Call (920) to register for your time slot! Bubble-pa-looza Tuesday, July 10, Make bubbles, blow bubbles, chase bubbles, pop bubbles, it s a bubble-pa-looza! We will be on the library lawn with little bubbles, giant bubbles, and different ways to make bubble wands. If weather is bad this event will switch dates with Afternoon Dance Party on July 17. LEGO Club Thursday, July 12, Come play, build, and explore with LEGOS at the library! We ll provide the LEGO bricks and a snack, you provide the creativity. Rockin Roadie Obstacle Course Tuesday, July 24, Run, jump, hop, skip, and crawl your way through an outdoor obstacle course on the library lawn! If weather is bad, this event will switch dates with Art Rocks! On July 31. Thursday, July 26, Grades 1-5 Join us for hands-on fun as we use basic materials and our creative minds, to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math! This month: Make a book and use it to record findings from the library lawn and gardens with bark and leaf rubbings, pressed flowers, your drawings, and more. Art Rocks! Tuesday, July 31, Come show off your creative side as we paint rocks that you can put in a garden, give to a friend, or leave some place to bring a smile to someone s day. Thursday, August 2, Come craft with us!! This month we will be making dream catchers!

Thursday, June 28, Grades 1-5 Join us for hands-on fun as we use basic materials and our creative minds, to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math! This month: Try your hands (and brain) at a series of tests to take your mascot puppet or stuffie - the library has plenty or bring one from home! - up high and all around using levers, pulleys, wheels, and other creative tools. Afternoon Movie Tuesday, August 30, August has five Thursdays, so join us at the library for a special Thursday Afternoon event to watch some of the classic Pixar Shorts. Snacks will be provided. Summer Reading Program Friday, June 1 to Tuesday, August 7 The Summer Reading Programs is open to all ages from baby to adult. Sign up begins Friday, June 1 at Friday Night Out. When you sign up, you will receive a game board. Once you have completed the game board, by reading or doing activities, bring it back to the library to receive a FREE BOOK and you may enter to win one of the grand prizes. Keep reading and filling up game boards all summer to earn additional prize entries. Stop by the library to sign up!!!
4 TEENS Stop Motion Music Video Open Studio Tuesday, June 26; Wednesday, June 27, and Thursday, June 28, Grades 6-12 Brainstorm, plan, and create your own stop motion animation video. Use props, paper, Play-Doh, whatever you like to create you own mini music video. Bring items from home to add a more personal spin if you wish, the library will also have a stash of props you can use as well. Teen Lock-In Friday, July 20, 6-9pm Grades 6-12 Tie-dye t-shirts, Just Dance competition, karaoke, along with pizza, food, and other fun activities. Come dressed like a rock star, there will be prizes awarded. Virtual Reality Night Monday, July 30, 4-8pm Grades 6-12 Ever wonder what it would be like to run around a 3D video game, build your own 3D world, or get in the driver s seat and race a tiny car around a track? Join us at the library and find out as we play PS4 Virtual Reality games. ADULTS WorkSmart Monday, June 4, July 2, August 6 Need help searching for jobs or putting together your resume? 5 Special Events Friends of the Library Book Sale Saturday, June 9, July 14, & Aug. 11, 10am-2pm The Friends of the Library Book Store will open for people to come in and browse donated books, with the proceeds funding new projects at the library. Be sure to stop in and see the Friends this summer and find some great reads. Donations of gently used books are always welcome at the library. Give your Wednesday a taste of the weekend! Let the library be your living room as we roll out the projector to show a recent release or classic flick. Light snacks provided and feel free to bring your own! Joyce Westerman, Wisconsin Women and the All American Girls Professional Baseball League: Play Ball! Wednesday, June 20, 6:30-7:30pm Historian Bob Kann offers this talk celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, made famous by the 1992 movie A League of Their Own. Hear stories of the league s three Wisconsin teams the Racine Belles, Kenosha Comets, and Milwaukee Chicks and their players, women who grew up during the Great Depression and left families, homes, and jobs to follow their dreams and forever change perceptions about female athletes. Root for Columbus Garden Tour Sunday, July 15, 3-5pm A walkable, bikeable, drivable self-guided tour that features different gardens throughout Columbus. Wander though some lovely spaces, get inspired, and meet some of the people in the community! Watch Facebook and the library s website for more information. Redbud Players This summer the Redbud Players invites students entering grades 1 through 10 to join their week-long theater residency program June Professional directors from Compass Creative Dramatics will work with our young actors through rehearsals and performances of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland. No acting experience necessary just come ready to have fun! Please register by June 1. Registration forms are available on Columbus Redbud Players Facebook page or by request via to ColumbusRedbud@gmail.com. All rehearsals and performances will be held at the Columbus High School. Redbud Players is a local theater group that provides those interested in theatre an opportunity to use their talents in theatrical productions and deliver live quality theater to Columbus and the surrounding area.
