ANZAC Day badges are on sale at the office for $1.00. Our students have been invited to sing at the local service at 10.00am at The Hub on Friday April 25 th. Mr Paxton is teaching all our students an appropriate song and will be there on the day to conduct them. Our School Captains will be reading the Requiem and laying a wreath on the school s behalf. The service will commence at 10.00am in The Hub then be followed by a short march and wreath laying ceremony. If you are early risers, the dawn service will be conducted at 6.00am and will be followed by a free breakfast. Easter Fair If you are around and can give a bit of time on Easter Saturday we could still do with a couple of helpers on some stalls. Thanks to everyone for all your donations so far and especially to the amazing Easter Fair committee who have actually been working for almost a year for this event to happen! Their passion and persistence is incredible. Please watch out for the list of wonderful sponsors who have given generously to the Fair and support them whenever you can. If you find items for the second hand bazaar over the holidays they can be dropped off at the school on Good Friday between 9am and 4pm. STOP PRESS.. Welcome back to all of the year 4 students. From all reports a great time was had by all. Happy Holidays Well first term has flown! Our students have worked hard and settled in to a great routine at school and should be congratulated on their efforts throughout the term. It is very tiring though, and all are ready for a well-deserved break. I hope all students and families have a chance to relax and enjoy some down time together so that we return refreshed and ready for term 2. GenEd It is pleasing to hear that some parents are now on to GenEd and finding their way around the site. If you have not received a letter from GenEd, via the school, containing your username ( address) and password it is because we don t have a registered address for you. If you could let us know your address, then we can organise access to the reporting system. Apparently there is still an issue with accessing the graph in the Learner Profile section and correcting that is a priority for GenEd. There have also been some cases of typing errors in addresses or addresses changed over time. If any of these things have happened to you let us know and we can sort it out with GenEd. It also appears that the best browser to access the site is Google Chrome. Band Practice Band practice will resume on the second week of Term 2. Sushi Helpers. We are asking for helpers for our sushi lunch orders, starting in Term 2. We need one more morning helper to collect and collate the orders for the Sushi shop. This in normally done at about am. We need one more helper to sort the Sushi into grades when it arrives back from the shop. This is done before lunch at approximately 12.20pm. In the past we have had a number of helpers volunteer and this makes a roster system possible, meaning you would not have to be available every week. Without helpers we will not be able to offer Sushi lunch order days. These days are very popular with our students with over 70 taking advantage of the lunch day each week. If you can help with this please leave your name and contact details at the office.

Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge 2014 Thank you to all students who have taken up the challenge so far. If you are still interested, but haven t returned your permission form, it s not too late.

If you are still interested, but haven t returned your permission form, it s not too late. Just remember to return your form to your classroom teacher early in Term 2. For those who have returned their permission form, please remember to fill in your reading log each time you finish a book. Please remember to record the name of the author as well as the book. Prep to Grade 2 students need to read (or experience) 30 books with at least 20 books from the Reading Challenge list. Grade 3 to 6 students need to read 15 books with 10 books from the Reading Challenge list. This list can be found at SCHOOL MOWING If you would like to help out at school but you are not available in school hours maybe helping with school mowing would be just the thing for you. We mow the front of the school and the nature strip in Edgar Street (in front of the veggie garden). School has a mower if that makes it easier and you can choose a fortnight that suits you and mow any day within that fortnight. If you can help please let the office know or put your name on the roster and send it back to school. A big thank you to everyone who have already volunteered and mowed. Have you seen the mystery box in the foyer? It is there to promote our Art display for the Fair. Students are encouraged to make, paint, draw or create something no bigger than the box on display. We have extended the return date. Robyn will be at school on Tuesday 15th of April from 10am-2pm. WOW THANKS HEAPS FOR THE CLOTHES Thanks so much to everyone of you who has donated the most gorgeous clothes. There will be a special PRE-sale on Good Friday 18th April in the 3/4G Classroom at school. Come along 9am to 11am for big bargains of quality & brand name clothes. Also if you still have clothes to donate drop your lovely items in the carport at 8 Short Street in the holidays. 3 Congratulations to Blue Wrens who were the overall winners of the senior house athletic sports held on Tuesday this week. Age champions were; 9yo Seth Cummins, Asha Boyd 10yo Yarrah Lynch, Keegan Page 11yo Josh Williams, Alex Maxwell and Jessy Sadler 12yo Michael Kennedy, Lanni Pryor All students did their best on the day and can be congratulated for their wonderful sense of sportsmanship. It was terrific to see students cheering for their peers regardless of which house they were in. Also fantastic to see so many supporters and helpers on the day. Special thankyou also to the students from Wonthaggi Secondary College who worked very hard to help the day run smoothly. Extra thankyou to Jesse Boyd for all of the work he puts in before, during and after the sports to ensure the day is such a success.
