2 Thoughts For The Month With Megan P A G E 2 We began this year at our banquet with the theme, Oh the places you will go. And oh the places you have been. We have been to camps, hosted enrollment nights, made smoothies on a bicycle, watched Megan get stuck in the foam pit at Urban Air, hosted Officer Trainings, hosted many project trainings, served at many events across the county, hunted clovers, make the most outstanding desserts for the 350 banquet, hosted a month of thankfulness, danced the night away at the Christmas party (sang the most awesome version of Hello), travelled countless miles to many livestock shows and contests, qualified for state in many events, became a tightly knit group of youth. You all have been so many places this year, and I am extremely proud of each of you. You all stepped up to become the leaders I knew you were. I am very honored to have had the team I had this year. Each one of you has left a lasting impact on this program. You should be proud of that Seniors, you are about to walk through these doors to the other side. The side where you will take the lessons you learned here and put them to practice in real life. I hope that as you take those steps towards your next phase, you will remember, you are destined for greatness. You have all of the tools in your bucket, use them wisely. As we take these next steps towards a new year, remember this. You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who ll decide where to go. So, be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact. And remember that life s a great balancing act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed (98 & ¾ guaranteed). Kid, you ll move mountains. Good Luck and know that home is always here waiting for you. Congratulations Graduates!

5 ALL 4-HIM 4-H CLUB P A G E 5 On May 6 th, 2016 the All-4-Him Club met for its last meeting for the year. We elected our officers for next year. Congratulations to all of our new club officers!!! After our business meeting, we had our end of year party! We played games, had a candy exchange and we brought our favorite snacks to share! It was a fun time! We are already looking forward to next year s projects groups. We will have Money Management, Bricks 4 Kidz, Clover kids, and Small Engines! Kara Kraemer, Photographer Suzy Ragsdale, Reporter
6 SILVER SPURS 4-H CLUB P A G E 6 Silver Spurs welcomed local rancher Moe Francis to their regular meeting in May to teach the education for the meeting. Moe led a nature hike through the pastures and trails of the Flying Dollar Ranch, while teaching the 4-H'ers about native plants and trees. It's important for horse project kids to know what is toxic to animals and humans as well as what is good forage and good for the environment. This information can be put to use in their animal husbandry as well as potential Quiz Bowl and Hippology topics. Everyone really enjoyed the lesson and appreciates Moe donating his time to the club! Congratulations to Autumn Wells and Jacob Ingram who earned first place in Educational Presentation at District Round-Up in the horse division. The duo spoke about Selective Breeding and Phenotypes of the Horse. Two Quiz Bowl teams also represented the Silver Spurs at District Round Up. Many members are looking forward to attending State Round-Up to compete in the State Hippology Contest. Good luck to the Silver Spurs and all 4-H members representing Ellis County! Scenes with local rancher Moe Francis teaching our 4Hers about plant life in the horse pastures. Jacob Ingram and Autumn Wells of the Silver Spurs 4-H Club earned 1st place in educational presentation at District Round-Up with their speech about coat color genetics in the equine.
7 KidzFANclub 4-H CLUB P A G E 7 KidsFANclub presents our Summer Musical Workshop of Through the Looking Glass Take a wildly entertaining trip through Alice s looking glass to the beat of a hip-hopping soundtrack by Bill Francoeur. This silly adaptation of Lewis Carroll s Through the Looking Glass depicts the coming-of-age story with fun twists and music audiences of all ages will adore. You ll recognize some of your favorite characters of Wonderland and meet dozens of new ones along Alice s journey. As a pawn from the second square of the chessboard, Alice must travel to the eighth square to accomplish her goal of becoming a queen. Each step of her passage brings her face to face with new characters and adventures as well as celebrations when she achieves each aspiration. The lively stage action, zany dialogue, and eclectic mix of toe-tapping tunes will have you grinning like a Cheshire cat! All Ages: Auditions will be held on May 23 rd and May 25th at 6:30 the Extension office. Performances are scheduled the last weekend of August. There is a place for everyone; costuming, makeup, backstage, props, set, artistic, musical, theatrical, phography, etc. For additional Information, Contact: Monica Holman at aofabc@yahoo.com or
