Can you believe it? Are you and your Team ready? Have you got your FUNdraisers up and running? Turned in any money? Held your Team meetings to keep everyone EXCITED? Planned your campsite decorations? Do you know who is bringing the camper/tent/grill? do less than less to do more! Think of Survivors you may know who have never been to Relay. INVITE THEM! Sometimes all it takes to get someone there is a simple invitation from someone they know. They are the reason we CELEBRATE! 10 weeks and counting! Are you ready to CELEBRATE MORE BIRTHDAYS? This becomes the exciting and busy time for everyone involved. We are seeing the bank account increase every day (almost like the snow accumulations did a few weeks ago). What a wonderful sight to see that number grow! That means we are that much closer to finding a CURE for cancer! We are still in need of more feet on the track! If you know someone who may be interested in starting a team, tell them it's not too late! You can also invite them to join your team! We will never turn anyone away. Remember, we want more to

2 Fun raisers Ideas Crockpot Cook-off and Silent Auction March 6 th, 5p to 7p, McGaheysville United Methodist Church -Individuals and groups can enter the cook-off with any category of food that is prepared in a crock-pot -Unlimited tastings will be available for $10/adults and $5/children with 3 voting tickets for your favorite crock-pot recipes -Winner of the contest will be awarded the Crockpot King or Queen for 2010 and receive a $25 gift card -Drinks and bread items will be provided to accompany the tastings and cleanse the palate -Kids PB&J meals will be available for $3 just in case they are not so adventurous! -Contact Susan ( ) or Cindy ( ) for more info Pancake supper March 13, pm Mt. Battle of the Bands 2010 March 19 7 p.m. Tickets: $5.00 at the door Broadway High School Auditorium All proceeds will to go to Gobblers Relay For Life We are still taking orders for "Fight Like a Girl" and "Fight Childhood Cancer" tee shirts. 4 Fun raisers Ideas Spring Swing Dance Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 8:00 until 11:00 pm in the Commons at Spotswood High School There will be a swing dance lesson available for beginner and intermediate levels from 7:00 until 8:00 pm. The cost of admission is $8.00 or a donation to the Relay. Spotswood's Jazz Ensemble will provide live music for the dance along with a DJ during breaks. High school age students and adults are invited. Dress is semiformal, ties and dresses (ones that are appropriate for swing dancing ) Many experienced dancers even wear spandex under their dresses. Spotswood Blazing Trails for a Cure team Dodge Ball Tourney Apr 8 6:00 pm TA High School Sign up your team of 6 players and join in the fun. Prizes will be award to winning teams. Also look for door prizes and sale items available like BBQ chicken, drinks, baked goodies. Additional fundraising items like logo-ed tee shirts, candle holders and handcrafted bags are possible. 6 Fun raisers Ideas Important information regarding Fundraiser Advertisement Fund raisers need to be to me 2 week prior to event! Please use the submit form on the relay site that way you will not forget to give me all information I need to put your event on the radio and community calendar. If you have a jpeg or a flyer you can add it to the submit form. If you must it then maek sure you include all information -Date, time, description, location, contact person, phone number and address. I know it is real easy to just send fund raisers to ACS office staff but that holds up everything because of them having to forward it to me. So please use the submit form. I will try to do a demonstration at the next captain s meeting so you can see how easy it is. Page 6

7 Fundraising At The Survivors Reception We are trying to gauge the interest of Relay teams having a team representative at the Survivors Reception to show their fundraising items to the Survivors and Caregivers. Depending on the interest we may try this at this year s Relay. This idea was done in the past when one team provided massages for the Survivors and Caregivers and they did very well. Any item, except food, would be welcomed. Tables would be set up for teams at the far right side of the Exhibit Hall, which is space that is not used for the Survivors Reception. The benefit is that teams would possibly be able to raise more money and show their items to the 300 or more Survivors and Caregivers that usually show up for the reception. 8 Auction Information! -Remember to get your auction donation card/s filled in and turned in. The items will be listed on the website (pictures also, if possible) and we will have an ad in the DNR. -The items should be valued at $25 or more. -Remind all your co-workers, friends, family, etc. to come to Relay and stay for the auction. -The auction will begin at 10 p.m. and continue until all items are sold. Newsletter typo winner Holly Mcduffee was the winner of last month s newsletter typo contest. She won a $25 Exxon gas card. Don t forget to look for the typo in this newsletter!

Newsletter Contest There is a typo in this newsletter, find it, circle it, put your name on it and bring it with you or send with your team captain to the next TC meeting to be entered for a drawing of a gift card! There is a fan page for our relay on FB at Facebook Contest Relay for Life 2010 of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County, Virginia This one is easy, if you are a fan and sign up as an individual or a team captain at our Relay, go to the fan page and put it in status. Once I confirm you are online, I will put your name in a drawing for a Relay Messenger Bag to be drawn on May 1.
