1 Recital information for Peacock Dance and Theatrics Proudly presents our 2018 annual recital Rockin in the USA Please take your time when reading this packet. There is quite a bit of information regarding this incredibly special time in your dancer s life! Rehearsal date: Thursday, May 31 st, 2018 Please check the schedule we have provided in this packet for rehearsal times specific to your child s school or class. Unfortunately, these rehearsal times cannot be changed and a specific time has been scheduled for your dancer. We will be on an extremely tight schedule with only one evening of rehearsal. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR DANCER IS ON TIME. We will only have time to run through each dance ONCE. We will not be able to practice it again. Your dancer must attend rehearsal to help him/her become familiar with the stage, lighting, and music in a new environment and most certainly calms pre-performance nerves.

2 Rehearsal Date: Thurs, May 31 st Recital Date: Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 Location for both recital AND rehearsal: His Hands 550 Molly Lane Woodstock, GA Before reviewing your days and times Please make sure that you are checking your dancer s correct school. Several schools have similar names, locations, and multiple class times. If your child s school, location, or class time is in question, please call or our office.

3 Costumes will be delivered to your child s school by the second week in May. The delivery will include 4 recital tickets, costume, a hair piece, tap ties, and tights. Please do not call the office with technical questions about how to do hair, makeup, or costume fitting. We will use our rehearsal time to agree (as a class) how to properly place headpieces etc. Please do not call us to tell us if tap ties are missing. We will have backups at rehearsal. Additional tickets will be available at rehearsal and recital. We will not sell out.

4 -Rehearsal- REHEARSALS ARE HELD AT: HIS HANDS 550 Molly Lane Woodstock, GA Rehearsal is MANDATORY. To participate in recital, you must attend your rehearsal. It is very important to be on time! We realize that some of the earlier rehearsal times may be a challenge for some. Remember, this is only once a year so please make arrangements well in advance to attend rehearsal; you may want to carpool! Please plan to leave for rehearsal EARLY to avoid any unforeseen traffic situations. We are on a very tight schedule; we will not be able to do an additional rehearsal once your dancer s scheduled time has passed. If something unforeseen happens on rehearsal day, and you realize you re late, please STILL SHOW UP. Most likely, your child s dance will have

5 already been rehearsed, but it will still be important for your dancer to check in with his/her instructor for any last minute instructions. Rehearsals will last approximately 1-2 hours. Please have dancers in full costume. We will make sure all costume pieces are worn uniformly within the class, but please get as close as you can to the final product! Dancers should be wearing the tights provided in your costume bag. Do not allow dancers to wear underwear beneath tights. The tights act as an undergarment and look much better in pictures and on stage without the additional lines and patterns of underwear. Professional photos will be taken the day of rehearsal. Our photographer is an independent agent, and group photos are SECONDARY TO REHEARSALS ON STAGE.

6 Individual and group photos are taken immediately after rehearsal. Please have your attached form completed in advance to expedite this. Photos are not required or included in your recital price. However, they make a wonderful keepsake and Amanda Neeley Photos does an amazing job! To save time, on the day of rehearsal, only one dance will be rehearsed. You will, however, see your dancer perform two dances the day of the show. Even though only one dance will be rehearsed, we ask that you still bring both tap and ballet shoes; we will let you know which shoes will be used that day via our information board which will be displayed at rehearsal. No white or tan tap shoes and no bedroom slippers please. Be sure to write your child s FIRST AND

7 LAST name on the bottom or inside of ALL shoes; black sharpies work best! Your child s rehearsal will last one to two hours depending on if you opt for photos. All accounts must be paid in full PRIOR to the evening of rehearsal. Please take care of any unpaid balances before rehearsal evening. Flash photography and video-taping is allowed at rehearsal and recital! Snap away! But please do your best not to steal your dancer s focus from their instructor. Also, at recital we ask that you remain in your seats. (To get close to the action, reserve preferred seating!) Staff will need to use the aisles to assist dancers and we don't want anyone's view to be obstructed during the show. If you have small children in the audience, please explain theatre etiquette to them

8 for both rehearsal and recital. Our dancers have been practicing hard and we want everyone to have a chance to see their performance. Please make sure that younger siblings stay in their seats and treat rehearsal as if it is a recital. Please check the spelling of your dancer s name on this packet cover page; this is how it will appear in the program. If you would like your dancer s name to appear differently, please call our office immediately! No calls will be taken on the day of rehearsal or recital; all staff will be at the theatre. Please have all questions answered and balances PAID prior to this day.

10 RECITAL The Big Day!! Saturday June 2 nd, 2018 RECITAL WILL BE HELD AT: HIS HANDS 550 Molly Lane Please arrive no more than 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled show time. There will be acts performing before and after your dancers, so it is important to arrive and leave in a timely manner. Guests are seated approximately 10 minutes prior to their scheduled show time. Dancers will be left with a PDT staff member and will remain with us for the entire act (approximately one hour) as parents and guests are seated and entertained! Your child will remain in a room with fellow classmates/dancers and a Peacock staff member backstage. Parents will NOT be allowed in this room. Sometimes separation is difficult at first, but once they are backstage with dance teachers and friends, they adjust beautifully. If your child remains upset for more than 10 minutes, a PDT instructor will find you and ask you to retrieve your child. Dancers will be returned to you immediately following the trophy ceremony. All acts last approximately 1.5 hours. You will only attend YOUR dancers show. Please stay seated until the end of the show (after the trophy ceremony.) Your recital fee included the purchase of four tickets! Additional tickets are five dollars each. You may invite as many guests as you like! Extra tickets will be available at rehearsal and recital! Every show will have a 10 minute intermission. Make sure your dancer s first and last name is in all pairs of dance shoes! The bigger and bolder the better!
