1 THE PACE STUDIO: RECITAL INFORMATION PACKET Student Name: Class(es): Teacher(s): The PACE Studio 4634 Lori LN. Pace, FL. (850) Milton High School Auditorium 5445 Stewart ST. Milton, FL. (850) Date: March 26, 2018 Good afternoon, parents and students! The PACE Studio students and staff will be presenting Recital 2018, June 9 th, at Milton High School Auditorium. Our theme this year is Into the Wild. Several classes will take a direct approach to the theme. For example, you will discover students dancing as creatures found in the wild (ducks, foxes, butterflies, fairies, etc.). On the other hand, you will discover dances that take an indirect approach to the theme. For example, one dance might tell a coming-of-age story of a dancer who is experiencing adulthood for the first time. Many of our dances will be open for interpretation, so let your imagination run wild! Our staff members are extremely excited and proud to see the progress each class is making as they prepare for their BIG recital presentation. We are confident that June 9 th will be a fun, family friendly night to remember for all! Please read the following pages carefully as they contain important information regarding recital such as rules and procedures, helpful tips, dates and times, line-ups, and order forms. Please contact us by phone or if you have any questions or concerns; we will be happy to help! 2 General Knowledge for Dancers Please do not arrive to the studio or auditorium in costume. Please be sure to have a cover-up and outside shoes for each dancer. Put on costumes and dance shoes in dressing rooms. Please have hair and make-up secure and fixed at home before arriving to the auditorium. The goal is to use the dressing room just for last minute touch-ups. Jewelry, tattoos, and unnatural nail polish are prohibited from being worn on stage unless otherwise stated by your teacher. LABEL EVERYTHING! Costumes, accessories, underwear, cover-ups, make-up, coloring books, hairbrushes, etc Please keep all items together in a bag or container. Please be patient during rehearsal times. This is a time for the lighting, sound, props, and staging to be finetuned. Rehearsals may let out early or late depending on how smoothly things go. Please keep the auditorium as quiet as possible during both recital and rehearsals. Please direct any requests or concerns to our office staff. Theater Rules Gum, food, and/or dark liquids are NOT permitted backstage, on stage, or in the dressing rooms. Outside food or beverages are prohibited in the audience. No costumes are to be worn in the audience or outside the auditorium (dance shoes included). Only dancers and backstage workers are permitted to be backstage and in the dressing rooms. To prevent injuries, please walk while in the auditorium and dressing rooms. Dancers must be extra quiet backstage. When directions are given, we must have a quiet room so all ears can hear. Be extra attentive to instructions given during rehearsals and recital. It s a big day for everybody, so let s do our best! J We ask that parents keep their children under complete supervision throughout the entirety of the show; we don t want any sad, lost, little faces! Procedures/Policies ATTENDANCE is MANDATORY. If your child misses more than two days of class from April 23 rd through June 9 th, the instructor has jurisdiction to pull them from the dance. This goes for any class. If there is a family crisis or illness, please notify our office. Upon arrival to the auditorium, please have dancer(s) check-in at the stage-door and place costumes into assigned rooms and areas. All dancers must be ready in either the dressing rooms, backstage, or on stage before each act begins and remain in the dressing room until the act is over. Only after an act is completed and audience lights are raised may dancers go into the audience. Fire safety codes are in place as well as proper theater etiquette. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY is NOT permitted during recital or dress rehearsal; this can cause injury to dancers on stage. VIDEOGRAPHY during recital is NOT permitted. You may do personal videography during dress rehearsal only. 2 What to Bring ALL costumes & accessories. Tights (an extra pair if possible) Dance shoes (double check ties and straps are properly secured). Hair supplies (brush, hair pins, bun holder, hairspray, clips, pins, ponytail holders, etc.) Make-up (lipstick, blush, mascara, eye shadow, face powder, and foundation). Warm-up clothes or cover-ups. 5 Hair, Make-up, Etc. Any hair or costume accessories will be discussed with each individual instructor. HELPFUL HINT: If your child is alternating between half-up-half-down to a bun/ponytail, section and style the hair in half-up-half-down FIRST, then put the hair into a bun/ponytail for an easier transition and a little style to their uniform. Dress Rehearsal and Recital are the times for full costume and make-up to be worn by dancers. It is important that all dancers wear make-up on stage (foundation, powder, blush, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, etc ). The stage light drowns out dancers natural looks. Without make-up, dancers faces may look shadowed on camera and be difficult to see. The in studio rehearsals do NOT require costumes or make-up. All dancers should not wear underwear underneath their costumes; underwear worn may be unpleasantly noticeable to the audience under stage lighting. HELPFUL HINT: If your child is wearing tan and pink tights for the show, have your dancer wear their tan tights UNDERNEATH their pink tights when they perform to save on time dressing. Finale Dance Sign-Up All dancers are eligible to participate in Finale dance! If you want your child to participate in the Finale dance, please sign up at the office, so we can add your dancer to our roll. The attire for Finale is the 2018 Recital T-Shirt, black bottoms of your choice, any colored tights, and any colored ballet or jazz shoes (tap shoes are not permitted). Finale Dancers must purchase the 2018 Recital T-shirt to be eligible to participate in Finale. Finale Dancers must attend the weekend finale dance rehearsals. You can see the finale dates and times on page 3. This is such a fun time for our dancers to learn a whole new dance and experience it with everyone, so come be apart of it! The 2018 Finale Dance will be choreographed to the song Roar by Katy Perry. Please direct any questions you have to our office staff; we will be happy to help! Dressing Room Volunteers Please sign up by May 1 st. Our Pre-K, K-2 and, Level 1 classes need two mommies per class to help them backstage during dress rehearsal and recital.
