1 From the Principal Dear St. Paul School Families, The students and staff of St. Paul School would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. We have so very much for which to be thankful. Our event filled school year has been moving along with great tributes for the students. Please let me share with you some of our successes: 1. On November 12 during the Trenton Catholic Academy Academic Competition, eighth grade student Isabella Ochalik took second place in Religion and Heather Storz took third place in math. Congratulations! 2. On November 11, during the Camden Catholic High School Academic Competition, seventh grade student Carolyn Arnista and eighth grade student Ally Turpin scored overall in the top nine. St. Paul School came in top three overall. Congratulations to the students and to our teachers! 3. Our Junior National Honor Society completed its soup drive for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. We are very proud of our students for the work they do for many community service projects. YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND OUR UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE SCHOOL: Sunday, November 22 (9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the cafeteria) Breakfast with Santa Saturday, December 12 (3:00 pm) The Jersey Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines International Winter Concert Holiday Dreams ( Jersey Sound Chorus is an adult female barbershop quartet style singing group. Many of our student chorus members will be joining Jersey Sound Chorus singing in this concert.) Tickets can be purchased at the school ahead of time or at the door: Adults - $ Students - $5.00 and Children under 5 years old free. Jersey Sound Chorus has been a dependable support for St. Paul School. Thursday, December 17 (7:00 pm in the gymnasium) St. Paul School Christmas Show. This is our yearly all school Christmas extravaganza in which every student, Pre-K through 8 th grade, participates. PLEASE JOIN US! Again PLEASE HAVE A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 2 There will be no tutoring this week. The next date for tutoring is December 2nd. NJHS monthly meeting will be today, Wednesday, November 18th from 3:00-4:45 pm. Good luck to all our 8th grade students who may be taking High School Placement Tests over the next several weeks. Breakfast with Santa/Christmas Bazaar Ticket Order There are still tickets available for the 10:30 seating of our annual Breakfast with Santaon Sunday, November 22. Send ticket orders into the main office by tomorrow. Any late orders will be held at the door. Please see the ticket order form in today s brown envelope to order your tickets. St. Paul School will be hosting a Blood Drive in honor of TJ Drahuschak on Tuesday, November 24, 4:00-9:00pm in the school gym. TJ is a graduate of St. Paul School and is currently a junior at Notre Dame High School. He was involved in a very serious car accident on October 29, TJ's condition remains serious but continues to improve. The family thanks the community for its ongoing support and requests donations to the Blood Drive in TJ's honor. The Bazaar will take place in the school gym, 9:00am 1:00pm. There will be a variety of crafters and vendors here with great gift items to start your holiday shopping! Calling All Pancake Flippers It's that time of year already. Our annual Breakfast with Santa is approaching on Sunday, November 22nd. Please consider joining us either Friday November 20th for set up or Sunday November 22nd for the event. If you need to fulfill your 3 hour service duty, this is the perfect event for you. 3 Student Crafters Saint Paul School We are encouraging students to pursue their dreams of showcasing their skills and maybe making a little money at the same time. A parent or guardian MUST commit to supervising the student crafter to provide support, guidance and safety throughout the bazaar. Please see the application in this week's "weekly news" tab for more information or contact Joann Ruzynski at sable0071@verizon.net. (Examples of acceptable crafts or skill: loom bracelets, bows, beaded bracelets, cupcakes, chocolates, pom poms, hair accessories, etc.) Please see the special letter is in today s brown envelope for student vendors. Santa s Secret Workshop PTA will be running the Santa s Secret Workshop again this year. This is an opportunity for students to shop for family members, friends or pets here at school. Each class will be scheduled to shop during the week of Monday, November 30 Thursday, December 3. Please see the letter in today s brown envelope for more information. Tag Tree Donations are still needed for this popular event at the Bazaar. If you have any new toys, books, crafts (for all ages) that you are able to donate, please send them in to the office marked Tag Tree donation and include your name. Volunteers Needed! Santa s Secret Workshop is in need of helpers to assist the students shopping for gifts and to wrap the purchases. Please see the flyer in today s brown envelope for more information. 4 Cookie Dough Delivery Cookie dough from the Cookie Dough Sale will be available for pick-up on Thursday, November 19 from 3 to 4pm in the school cafeteria. If someone cannot make that time please contact Penni Smith at pennipat@gmail.com or ) to arrange pick-up. Food Drive The Thanksgiving Food Drive will end tomorrow, November 19th. Please give thought to helping the people in the community for the Thanksgiving holiday. The food items that are donated in school are given to the Society of St. Vincent depaul at the parish of St. Katharine Drexel. Many families from our very neighborhoods are helped with the donations collected at school. We ask everyone to help to the best of their ability. Everyone Loves a Parade Come Join Us! St. Paul School will be represented at the Burlington City Parade alongside the Knights of Columbus on December 5 th (meeting at All Saints Church at 4:30p). All are welcome to attend and be a part of the parade. We ask that the students wear their Green SPS Sweatshirt and jeans (layered for warmth) and we ll provide the rest! Our Bell Choir and students will parade down High Street showing the importance of Keeping Christ in Christmas. If you and your child(ren) are interested in participating in the parade please Lucy Tomczynski at lucyctrs@me.com Ugly Sweater Dance-a-Thon Break out those ugly sweaters and put on your dancing shoes! St. Paul School will be hosting their 2 nd annual Ugly Sweater Dance A Thon on Friday, December 11 th, 6:00-10:00pm. There will be a contest for ugliest sweater and a Christmas Cookie sale, too! Crafty Kids Club Crafty Kids Club will meet for the students that have signed up on Friday, November 20 th from 3:00-4:00pm. Students are reminded to bring their $3.00 fee with them to the meeting. Mrs. Ochalik is giving of her talents and gifts to provide this club to our very young children. The $3.00 helps to cover the cost of snack and toward the project that will be made. 7 PTA News We look forward to our annual Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar this coming Sunday. If you re able to come help set-up for this event, we could use some helping hands on Friday evening, 6:30pm setting up the cafeteria and the gymnasium. The Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar is a family favorite tradition. We hope all our St. Paul families can attend! Important Notice for Indoor Soccer Grades K & 1: There will be indoor practice in St. Paul s gym on the following Monday afternoons. Students should wear their PE uniform and sneakers. November 23 and 30 December 7 and 14 Turkey Tales The Burlington County Children s Historical Center invites you to experience a colonial Thanksgiving!
