The FES PTO will be hosting a Sock Hop on Friday, February 19th. The Sock Hop will begin after school and last until 3:45! The cost is $5 and the concession stand will have drinks and snacks for purchase! Please see the attached flyer for additional information! REMINDER! MVCSC will be closed on Monday, February 15th in observation of Presidents Day. Parent Information Night Mrs. Noesges, FES principal, will be hosting a Parent Information Night on Wednesday February 17th. This forum is a way for families to learn more about FES and ask any questions you may have about our school. Please see the attached flyer for more details! Random Acts of Kindness Week Next week FES will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week! The Kindergarten classes have challenged FES students to carry out Random Acts of Kindness! By the end of the week, the goal is to cover this tree in colorful hearts to show the many kind acts that occur at our school! Ask your student what kind act(s) they have done for others. What kind acts have others done for them?

2 FES Yearbook! It s time to order you FES YEARBOOK! The yearbook order form will be coming home today. All yearbook orders are due back to school no later than Friday, February 19th! If paying by check, make check payable to: Lifetouch 6th Grade Cheerleading Tryouts ( School Year) Are you a 5th grader interested in being a 6th grade cheerleader? 3 MVHS Basketball January READING CHALLENGE! Students that participated in, and completed, January's Marauders Reading Challenge have received a certificate from their teachers with information on the reward game- Feb. 19th at MVHS. Students will be admitted free (plus one adult) and all other ticket prices are $5. Students will be announced as a group at half time and are invited to pick up a free ice cream treat after the game in the cafeteria where they'll meet the MV Basketball team and Cheerleaders. Game Information: Friday, February 19th (Mt. Vernon Vs. New Palestine) at Mt. Vernon HS 7:30 start time *It will be a very full game that night so please give yourself time to find a seat. If you have questions please feel free to contact: Jessica Daugherty Daily Routine Reminders Please make sure that each evening, students are charging their ipad & homework/bookbags/folders are being checked by a parent/adult. Making sure these tasks are done daily sets students up for success the next day! Delayed Start Due to ISTEP Testing, there will be NO DELAYED START on: March 2nd, March 9th, April 20th, April 27th ALL schools will operate on a normal schedule these days. 4 Optimist Baseball & Softball Registration Registration is currently open thru Feb 27 th at $90.00 (T-Ball for 3-4 year olds is $55.00) Late registrations will run from Feb 28 th thru March 5 th at $ Ages 3-18 for boys and 3-14 for girls. FES Viking Festival Stu- The FES PTO is pleased to announce the return of the FES VIKING FEST!!!! This year s event will be held on Friday, April 29th from 5:00-8:00pm at FES. While this event is several weeks away, the PTO has already started planning! For those who may not be familiar with this event, the PTO hosts a night of games, silent auction and food for our students, their families, and community! The first planning task is to organize the Basket Auction! In the coming days, you will receive an from your student s Class Rep with more details about your class basket. Until then, take a look at the attached list of basket themes and classes. The PTO is looking for donations for each basket! Stay tuned for more exciting details about the 2016 FES VIKING FEST!
