1 OCTOBER CARMEL VALLEY ATHLETIC CLUB 2018 COMMUNITY MU connection As summer comes to a close and we welcome October s fall weather, we continue to focus on ways to improve the member experience at CVAC. One recent improvement that s hard to miss, is our newly resurfaced blue tennis courts just outside the front door. In addition, we have completed the tennis lighting project and all of the courts will now be playable at night during the shorter days of winter and throughout the year. If you need the lights on for the back courts, just check in with the front desk and we ll be happy to assist. The new spin studio has been busy and continues to gain popularity among existing and new members alike. If you re interested, it s not too late get in on the fun! An exciting new offering is coming to the CVAC, with our first organized travel adventure. A trip to Costa Rica is on the list of things to do in This tour is coordinated through G Adventures, one of the top travel groups in the world. We will have all the details in our upcoming talk presented on October 16th and 17th. If all goes as planned, I am hoping to join the trip and take the adventure with you! Mark your calendars for our annual Party in Pink event, which supports breast cancer, and will be held on October 20. Bring a friend to support this worthy cause. If you re looking for some pre- Halloween fun, why not join us for our Halloween Round Robin later this month? October is also the time to gear up for the CVAC Tennis Club Championships. During the month, we will be holding a regular draw, leading up to the finals on November 3rd & 4th. So, men, women or couples, come and compete - or help us support our tennis program and watch us crown a new club champion. A new change - one that should not affect the majority members - is that CVAC is going cashless beginning October 1st. Cash is rarely used at the club, with members all having accounts, so we anticipate that this transition will be a smooth one. As you can see, there are lots of ways to enjoy yourself at our club. Whether it a wine tasting, a game of poker or just a parents night out, there s always a reason to join us at CVAC! I hope to see you at the club real soon! James Kellogg General Manager GREEN CORNER Thank you, everyone, for dropping off your athletic sneakers in our MORE foundation box at the front desk. We filled our first box this month and the shoes are on their way to their second lives. Due to the success of the first box, we have a second box out, so anyone who hasn t brought in their old sneakers, now is your chance! In addition to giving your shoes a second life, the shoes also fund tree planting and sustainable farming training.
