She has taught at Foothill School, now called Ida Jew. She has taught grades 4-8. She became a teacher by going to school for 5 years and received her teaching credential from San Jose State University. Over the years, Ms. Hunter has taught English language development (ELD), dance, language arts, and math. Currently, she has been going to a therapist school and will retire in three years to transition to become Continue on page 3
2 August Boeger Middle School November The Sports Debate: Football VS Soccer By Opinion News Staff The Boeger Chronicle has interviewed many students on their opinion about whether football or soccer is a better sport. The great thing about both sports is you don t need to have any skills to play because they can be taught to you. Whether or not you like one sport more than the other, playing sports is good for exercising and staying healthy to make you feel happy. In an anonymous poll of twenty-eight students, most of them voted that soccer was better than football. Twelve students voted for football, fourteen students voted for soccer, and two students were undecided. Seventh grader Frankie Rodriguez plays for the San Jose Jr. Cardinals football team, and he said, The best thing about being on a football team is the hitting and aggression. However, Seventh Grader Emmanuel Nol said, I like soccer because it s world wide, and you need fast skills for soccer. 2

The Zooming Cross Country Club By Sports News Staff Eighth grader Marco Nunez said, I sold 6 boxes and raised $360. I m proud for selling these chocolates because I was really dedicated and motivated. Practicing Tuesday and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 PM on the track, the team won meets for the season. Ms. Stilwell was the proud leading coach for the Cross Country team. Feature News Continued a therapist. Coach Stilwell said, Cross County is not hard. It's just running, and you get use to it. During practices, the cross county team sprints from one to four miles. Ms. Hunter said, I love students and I love to see them learn. Seventh grade Cross Country member Anthony Aguirre said, Cross County is overall fun! She started going to the Washington D.C. trip 5 years ago and became the head leader 3 years ago. Although cross-country may be tiring, it might be worth to join for fun. Seventh grader Sarah Dang said, I like Ms. Hunter because she s nice and does activities that are fun, like group activities. Eighth grader Joshua Guicho said, I joined because I like to run. When I run, I feel great because I feel confident in what I am doing. 3
4 Cartoon Day A Big Hit Other students, such as 7th Grader Kiana Cattivera wore a Minnie Mouse shirt because August By Entertainment Boeger Middle News School Staff she loved the character when she November was little August Boeger Middle School students wore cartoon shirts to celebrate Spirit Day on Friday October 14, Students could wear only appropriate cartoon shirts for cartoon day with uniform pants. Eighth Grader Osimar Reyes said he wore a Pokémon shirt. He said, I like Ash Ketchum because I like the TV Show Pokémon. Students really enjoyed the spirit day and thought it was cool. When asked on whom the best cartoon character is, many said they liked Mickey Mouse. Eighth grader Jade Figueroa said, Cartoon day was really fun because everyone can share what cartoon they like.
