The South Eastern Livingston County Recreation Authority (SELCRA) is the leading parks and recreation organization serving the communities of the Brighton, Michigan area. 3 Daddy Daughter Dance SELCRA has been offering this annual community wide dance for 30 years and it is arguably the best Daddy Daughter Dance in the country! This one night event is filled with dancing, balloons, refreshments, laughter and a lifetime of memories. As a sponsor you have the opportunity to become part of a longstanding and memorable community event and one of the largest Daddy Daughter Dance s in the country. This event takes place annually after Valentine s Day. Target Market Girls ages 3-15 and heads of households ages 25+ Exposure More than 1400 in attendance plus exposure in our print publication distributed to 38,500 homes in Livingston County, pre-event publicity and social media. Timeframe Publicity begins in December and will run to March 3rd Event Highlights: Photograph Specials A professional photography company will take pictures of the fathers and daughters offering photo packages for purchase. Balloon Drop Three nets containing over 3000 balloons are opened at the end of the night showering dads and daughters with balloons. Desserts and Refreshments Guests will be treated to cookies, punch, custard samples, and coffee. Goody Bags Each girl receives a little extra gift at the end of the night, a bag filled with coupons, special gifts and more. 4 Brighton Archery SELCRA is leading the way in archery with an mparks (Michigan Recreation & Parks Association) grant. We offer a variety of archery courses including beginner, intermediate, camps, Boy & Girl Scout Badges, introduction to bow fishing or bow hunting, archery with a twist, archery gold for older adults, as well as our popular league competition events. With instructors certified through USA Archery, (Level 1 to 4) we currently have 2 school teams through Brighton SELCRA archery with plans to expand in this exciting program. Target Market Boys and girls ages 8-18 for competition through older adults in Archery Gold. Exposure More than 500 participants to date plus exposure in our print publication distributed to 38,500 homes in the Livingston County area, as well as pre-event publicity and social media. Timeframe Publicity is year round with programs culminating in the spring with the tournament events. Economic Impact - State level studies (mparks data) show 38% of participants purchase their own equipment with a potential referral of near $142,000 in local revenue from SELCRA participants over the last 5 years. 5 Bunny Mile Join us for this great event where participants grab their families to come RUN WITH THE BUNNY! Helping participants stay active to help burn off all those post Easter candy calories, the event is open to all ages for a fun, healthy, and family based event. The bunny will lead a light warm up then take the family on a mile run along the Bishop Lake Beach area. The run will begin and end at the Sandhill Shelter, Bishop Lake at Brighton State Recreation Area. This is not a timed race and one registration includes entire family. Priced per family and includes 1 mile family Bunny run, bunny mile medals, family photo and goody bag for ages 12 and under. Target Market Children Ages 2-12 and their families. Exposure Over 300 in attendance, pre-event publicity in our publication distributed to 38,500 homes in the Livingston County area, as well as flyers and social media. Timeframe Publicity begins in December and runs until the event at the end of April/March. 6 Touch A Truck Put your imagination in gear and go! Join SELCRA for our Touch a Truck, where kids get a chance to get behind the wheel and meet their hometown heroes. Come and climb on and explore your favorite vehicles including big rigs, fire engines, police cars and construction trucks. It will surely be a day that will be remembered for years to come. Target Market Children Ages 2-15 and their families. Exposure Pre-event publicity in our publication distributed to 38,500 homes in the Livingston County area, as well as flyers and social media. Timeframe Publicity begins in April 2019 and runs until the event. Program Highlights: Tons of Trucks! - Families will be able to see trucks up close and personal. They can explore service and construction vehicles and ask questions of the professional drivers. Photos - There will be a ton of photo opportunities with your favorite trucks and hometown heroes. 7 Youth Baseball and Softball Program The community comes together for SELCRA s annual youth baseball/softball leagues. Practices and games are held throughout the week and weekends through the exciting end of the season playoffs! Be a part of one of the largest youth baseball/softball leagues in the area! Target Market Approximately 500 boys & girls, ages 4-15 Exposure Pre-event publicity in our publication distributed to 38,500 homes in the Livingston County area, as well as flyers sent to Brighton elementary, intermediate and middle schools, as well as social media. 8 Adult Basketball League Fall and Winter Be part of one of the biggest adult basketball leagues around! Games are played on Monday and Wednesday nights at Brighton Area Schools facilities offering community involvement and fun! Regular season is followed by an exhilarating postseason playoff tournament! Target Market Approximately 200 adults, ages 18+. Timeframe Publicity is year round in our semi-annual brochure and price includes both seasons. 9 Additional Opportunities SELCRA also has many other opportunities throughout the calendar year! Please contact us if you wish to support any of the following community events and programs! RecFest & Garage sale Rec Fest is an opportunity for SELCRA to show our community what types of recreation and enrichment programs we offer and at the same time offer a community garage sale. Activities will include fitness demonstrations, tennis, archery, gaga ball, a bounce house and more. While you are there check out all of our Summer programming, including Summer day camps, British Soccer Camp and the Detroit Pistons Basketball camp, take part in our community garage sale. Don t forget to clean out the garage, basement or shed for this garage sale at Meijer Park! 20' x 15' spaces available. This community garage sale will also host a special Kidz Zone where children between the ages of 5-16 can sell sports equipment, toys, collectibles, etc. This free family event is pet friendly, just remember to clean up after them please. Tot Olympics This friendly competition is for athletes Aged 3-6. Events will include a Bucket Toss, Tee Ball Hit, Basketball Toss, Soccer Kick, Obstacle Course, and all participants may run in the 40 yard dash. We will kick off the event with a parade of athletes carrying an Olympic torch! Every child who participates is awarded a medal. Everyone involved is sure to have plenty of fun, friendly competition, and physical activity. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera, water, grandparents and snacks. Pistons Camp - The Pistons Academy Summer Camp Tour returns with a full day camp running 9 am-3 pm for boys and girls entering grades 3-9. Campers will learn the game from some of the top instructors in the state as well as play in over 20 games during the week. Special appearances are schedule from the Pistons mascot, Hooper, as well as the professional dunk team "Flight Crew". All campers will receive a Pistons camp jersey and a free ticket to a Pistons home game at Little Caesars Arena. Scavenger Hunt - Participants dress up in their best Halloween costumes for this fun family affair. They decode all the clues to reveal a fun adventure around Brighton. Prizes and or goodies at each stop. Each child will receive a goody bag. One registration per family. Turkey Trail Trot - Let's go turkey hunting! This fun, healthy, family hike is a great way to stay active this Fall! Hike the trail around Bishop Lake (approximately 1 mile) and find the turkeys hidden along the way. Count the correct number of turkeys and one lucky family will win a prize! After the hike grab your family's pumpkin and roll it down the hill towards a target. Hit the target and your family will win a prize!
