Principal s Report K-2 Bedtime Stories Congratulations to Mrs Cook and the rest of the Rouse Hill PS staff on organising a wonderful K-2 evening last week. Our teachers, along with Year 6 buddies, spent the evening reading stories to our K-2 students before they had milk and cookies and went home to bed. Chinese Volunteer This Friday I will be welcoming our Chinese volunteer Miss Jichao Wang who will be assisting our existing Chinese Teachers. Jichao will land in Australia on Thursday and will spend the first few weeks staying with staff members of RHPS but will eventually need to find her own accommodation in the local area. If any members of our community know of relatively cheap accommodation in the area e.g. granny flat could you please contact the school.
2 Spelling Bee Last week I had an opportunity to listen to our Spelling Bee finalists compete. Congratulations to Natalie 4R, Emma 3F, Arushi 5/6G and Sunoor 5/6S. Thank you also to Miss Whitfield for organising the competition. The finalists will go on to represent our school at Matthew Pearse on 15 September. Public Speaking Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Public Speaking competition this week. The finals will be held on Monday and Tuesday of next week. K-2 Athletics Carnival Next week, 27 August we will be hosting our K-2 Athletics Carnival here at school, commencing at 9.45am. All parents and caregivers are welcome to come along and enjoy the day. Ridges Athletics Carnival Good luck to all of the students participating in the Ridges Athletics Carnival next Friday. The carnival will be held at Blacktown International Sports Park. All students need to be at school by 7.30am. The first event will commence at 8.30am and the carnival should conclude by approx pm. Kind Regards David Jenkins Principal
3 Premiers Reading Challenge PRC concludes on the 24 August. All reading logs must be to Mrs Egan by the end of school that day! Congratulations to all our amazing readers who have already handed in their completed reading logs. Knitting for Nepal To all our wonderful knitters who have been knitting beanies, scarves and jumpers for Nepal. We need them to be delivered to school by the end of this term as they are being taken to Nepal during the school holidays. Many thanks to all your wonderful knitters and your outstanding efforts will be certainly keeping many needy people warm during their very cold winter. Mrs Izzard & Mrs Egan
