1 DECEMBER Indian Insider 2016 Volume 1, Issue 4 The Princess and the Ice Dragon In a dark cave, in the year of King George III, there was an ice dragon named Frostclaw He was the weakest ice dragon due to that he could not fly. There were two twin princesses named Rosa and Leticia. One day, Rosa went out for a walk in the woods, and she spotted the ice dragon s cave. Then she went in the cave and saw Frostclaw just lying down. Rosa carelessly stepped on a rock which resulted in Frostclaw waking up and freezing her. Meanwhile, Leticia, and Kay were worried about Rosa not coming back. Leticia went out to look for her while Kay was asleep at the castle. She was walking, then heard snoring coming from the cave. She also heard muffled screams which was Rosa frozen. Leticia was horrified at the sight of her sister being frozen that she collapsed. Leticia regained her composure when she heard a grunt sound. When her vision cleared she saw Rosa and Frostclaw drinking hot chocolate. With a confused expression on her face, she walked up to Rosa and asked her why was she now friends with the dragon even though he froze her to a popsicle. Rosa explained to her that it was a misunderstanding. Frostclaw was lonely and he just wanted company. With that being said the twin princesses went back to the castle to grab some decorations and bring Kay, for a celebration at the cave. They enjoyed their Christmas by eating funnel cakes and drinking Hot Chocolate. Teacher of the month Coach Gonzalez What do you coach? 2 Recipe Maple Custards with Sugared Pecans Ingredients: 3¼ cups Pure New York State Maple Syrup 16 large egg yolks 4 whole eggs Soccer 4 tbsp. unsalted butter 2 cups pecan halves (½ pound) Do you think you re going back to states? ¼ cup New York State Granulated Maple Sugar boiling water -Our hope is to go back to the state finals. I strongly believe we have a great group of young men that can get it done, but we have to get them to believe it. whipped cream, for serving Who are the leaders of the team? Directions: Preheat oven to 325 F. Spoon teaspoon of maple syrup into each of twelve ½ cup ramekins, swirling to coat the bottoms. Arrange the ramekins in a large roasting pan. -The captains for Indians this year are: Kensly Jean-Baptise, Elias Cuevas, Carlos Contreras, and Ulises Soto. We are looking for our captains to set the tone, but we are expecting Raymundo Cervantes, Carlos Trigueros, Fouchad Fiantzdy, and Jonas Jean Charles to fit in to the leadership role as well. If these individual players fail to lead we will fail miserably. Their leadership is critical to our success. salt In a large stainless steel bowl, whisk the yolks with the whole eggs until blended. Whisk in the remaining 3 cups of maple syrup. Pour the mixture into the ramekins. Carefully pour enough very hot water into the roasting pan to reach halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 55 minutes, or until the custards are just set. Using tongs, immediately remove the ramekins from the hot water and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate the custards for at least 6 hours or overnight. Meanwhile, in large skillet, melt the butter. Add the pecans and stir to coat with butter. Cook over moderate heat until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Put the granulated maple sugar in a large bowl. With a slotted spoon, transfer the pecans to the bowl with the granulated maple sugar and toss to coat. Transfer the nuts to a baking sheet, shaking off any excess sugar. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Let cool. Carefully run a thin knife around each custard. Dip each ramekin in a bowl of boiling water, and then quickly invert the custard onto a plate. Spoon whipped cream over the custards, garnish with the sugared pecans and serve. Make ahead, the custards can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. The sugared pecans can be stored overnight in an airtight container. Who do you expect a lot from this season? -We are expecting our seniors and juniors to preform and take care of business.
