As of November 17th, spending a minimum of $5 at a participating Auburn business lets you enter to win some great prizes. Be sure to write your name and phone number on the back of your receipt and drop it in the collection box. The first round of winners has already been chosen and their prizes included chamber bucks and gift cards to some awesome Auburn businesses. Winners will be in the Nemaha County Herald each week starting Thursday, December 1st. You can also listen for the winners to be announced live on air with B103 at 9:25am on December 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. Ugly Sweater Contest/ Whiskey Run Creek 5K 4 Good Samaritan Society Celebrations 5 Events Around Auburn 6-13 Upcoming Events 14 Shop LO-ho-ho-CAL, Merry Christmas! The tree is lit and the season has begun. Cookies, cocoa, holiday movies were so much fun. There were Carolers, Carriage Rides, and Shopping Galore. No need to stop, get ready for more. Shopping local and going out for dinner. Put your receipt in the box and you could be a winner! So keep on shopping and enjoy the Christmas Spirit. If you re downtown listen for the holiday music, you re sure to hear it. More stocking stuffers can be found in stores just for you. Don t forget Chamber Bucks make great ones too. So be sure to stay on Santa s nice list. And have a very Merry Christmas.
2 Page 2 It s Your Business News Catholic Social Services - 3rd Annual St. Nicholas Toy Shoppe Catholic Social Services will hold its 3rd Annual St. Nicholas Toy Shoppe on Wednesday, December 21st. The mission of the Toy Shoppe is to provide parents who cannot afford a Christmas present for their children with the opportunity to shop for one. Families in need of help this Christmas need to call Angela at to register. On December 21st, parents will come to the Catholic Social Services office and shop for a toy. Toys will be arranged by gender and age. Parents will be able to pick out one toy and one stocking stuffer for each of their children ages 12 and under. If you would like to donate a new and unwrapped toy, please stop by Catholic Social Services office located at 1020 Central Ave between the hours of 9am to 5pm. If you know a family in need or have any questions please call Angela Seidl at Christmas on the Square Sunday, December 4th The Nemaha Valley Museum will host their traditional Christmas on the Square on Sunday, December 4th. The Museum will open that afternoon from 1pm-4pm sharing homemade cookies and hot chocolate with family and friends. They are lining up live music during the afternoon starting with Debbie Meyer and Lori Broady (piano) at 1pm. So come and enjoy the music. Don t forget there will also be s special guest arriving at 1:00 pm, but has to head back to the North Pole at 3pm. So come ready to see Santa as he will be stopping in to listen to our young one s Christmas wishes. Make your list and bring it along, as you are never to old to ask Santa for something. Don t forget the camera to snap a picture of your loved ones making your own memories. There will also be a Children s craft corner set up in the museum, where they can make something to hang on the tree or take it home for their own tree. So don t forget this weekend to stop in at the Nemaha Valley Museum for some family fun. This will be the final day the museum is open until spring so you don t want to miss out. Residential Lighting Contest 2016 The Auburn Chamber of Commerce will be having their annual Residential Lighting Contest on Monday, December 19th. Anyone within the Auburn City limits is welcome to participate. To sign up, see our registration form in the Nemaha County Herald or the address to Tonia at auburnchamberofcommerce@gmail.com. Then just make sure your Christmas lights are on by 5pm, and our judges will go around after dark to select the winners. ONLY Christmas lights will be judged, inflatable decorations will not count towards the winning theme. Winners will be announced on Thursday, December 29nd, with prizes given to first, second, and third places. If you have any questions, please call the Chamber at

4 Page 4 Whiskey Run Creek Winery Winter Celebration & 5k Fun Run Saturday, December 17th Join Whiskey Run Creek Winery for their Annual Winter Celebration & 5k Fun Run on Saturday, December 17th. We encourage everyone to brave the cold to help raise funds for the Auburn BackPack Program. The starting time is 2:00 pm and the cost is $20. The Auburn BackPack Program provides food-filled backpacks to students in need of food over the weekends. It is being supported by a consortium of churches, community organizations, and citizens from Nemaha County in collaboration with the Lincoln Food Bank. Whiskey Run Creek Winery 702 Main St. Brownville, NE It s Your Business News This is a FUN run/walk so there is no need to be a marathon runner to join them for this event. Many participants come just to support the cause and to enjoy a stroll through Brownville. We hope you will join us to help support this need. All participants will receive a t-shirt and are entered into door prize drawings. So be sure to register to get a free T-shirt while supplies last. Chamber of Commerce Ugly Sweater Contest December 14th Break out your worst Christmas attire, as the Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce our 4th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest on Wednesday, December 14th. Dig that hideous sweater you got from Grandma out of the closet, borrow a shirt from your tacky friend, or make the most obnoxious holiday-themed vest you can think of. Then snap a picture and it to the Chamber at auburnchamberofcomerce@gmail.com by Noon on December 14th. We ll decide which is the worst of the worst and announce a first, second and third place winner on Friday, December 16th. Ugly has never been more fun! The 2016 Christmas Opening was a Very Merry Success! 5 Good Samaritan Society - Holiday Happenings Page 5 The 3rd Annual Socks for Seniors. Today is the last day! Help bring a smile with a warm pair of socks to a senior. Socks must be new and may be traditional socks or fun colorful fuzzy socks. Location to drop off socks is the Auburn Senior Center, 1101 J St. Auburn, NE and Good Samaritan 1322 U St Auburn, NE. We are supporting one of our own Auburn Public Schools student Gavin Mason on his goal to donate Christmas gifts to children at the children s Hospital and Medical Center.
