1 SOUTH MOORLANDS JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE. (SPONSORED BY TROPHY SUPPLIES OF FOLE) (2018 Season revisions in italics) CONSTITUTION 1. The League shall be called the South Moorlands Junior Cricket League. 2. The League shall be open for membership to Cricket Clubs in North Staffordshire and surrounding areas and shall comprise Age Groups as approved by the League Committee. 3. (i) The aims of the League shall be to introduce Cricket to as many youngsters as possible, to help them to learn about the game, to teach them to play the game in the right spirit and to encourage Clubs to have properly coached and organised Junior teams. (ii) Safeguarding Policy. It is the responsibility of all adults involved within the S.M.J.C.L. to ensure that every child/young person involved with the League is able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment. The SMJCL recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people belonging to it by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional harm and from neglect and bullying. We are determined to meet our obligation to ensure that it does so to the highest standard of care. The S.M.J.C.L has adopted the ECB document Safe Hands, the Welfare of Young People in Cricket together with the ECB Fair Play documentation and will fulfil the commitment to apply all of its Policies and Procedures. This Policy and any associated procedures apply to anyone affiliated to the League, whether in paid or voluntary positions and includes Umpires, Club Officials, Coaches or other helpers in whatever capacity. The SMJCL will consider, having taken advice, whether anyone who has a previous criminal conviction or caution for offences relating to the abuse of children or young persons, violence or sexual offences, should be excluded from working with children and young people associated with it. This position is reinforced by Legislation and guidance in England and Wales and will be assiduously applied by the S.M.J.C.L. The Key Principles underpinning this Policy are: The young person s welfare is and must always be paramount. All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious beliefs or sexual identity. All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately. (iii) Equity Policy. The S.M.J.C.L recognises the role sport has in improving the quality of life and, by embracing equity issues wants to ensure that opportunities are available to everyone. S.M.J.C.L. is committed to providing sporting opportunities which achieve equality of access and choice. We recognise that inequalities exist and will take positive steps to minimise them. MEMBERSHIP 4. Applications for, and resignations from membership of the League must be made in writing to the League Secretary. Such applications for membership should be prior to September 30 th for them to be considered at the League Annual General Meeting (AGM) normally held in December. Election to membership shall be by a majority vote at the AGM or Pre-season Meeting (PSM).

2 OFFICERS, COMMITTEE AND FINANCES. 5. (i) The affairs of the League shall be considered at a meeting comprising of ONE representative from each member Club plus the Officers of the League who are the President, Chairman, Secretary, Asst Secretary, Treasurer, Asst Treasurer, Welfare Officer, Fixtures/Results Administrator, K O Cup Administrator who together with a number of elected members shall comprise the League Management Committee. All Officials and Committee members shall be elected at the AGM. (ii) A Disciplinary Sub Committee will be drawn from the ranks of the Management Committee where required but will not include any member who has connections with a Club involved in the issue under review. (iii) Any appeals against the findings of the Disciplinary Sub Committee shall be heard by an Appeals Sub Committee who shall be drawn from the members of the Management Committee who were not involved with the initial Disciplinary hearing with the exception of the Chairman of the Disciplinary Sub Committee who shall attend to answer any relevant queries. 6. Each member Club and the officials of the League shall have one vote at meetings and if necessary the Chairman shall have a casting vote. 7. (i) Meetings shall be held when considered necessary by the Officers of the League and an Annual General Meeting must be held every December/January, at which the Annual Subscription shall be set. Subscriptions must be paid by April 30 th, 35 for first team per Club, 20 for each subsequent team. New entrants to the League shall pay a joining fee of 5. All Clubs must be represented at the AGM and PSM. Failure to be represented shall result in a fine of 25. All decisions taken at the AGM or PSM shall be by a majority vote. Any applications for membership shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary no later than Sept 30 th preceding the AGM. Each club shall be allocated 1 team in each age group they completed the previous season. Clubs must confirm any additional teams for the forthcoming season by 31 December. (The League will endeavour to accommodate new teams after this date but teams may not be placed in the most beneficial geographical Section). Any team withdrawing after 1 January will be fined 25 in addition to the annual subscription for that team. (ii) Should any Club have fees or fines outstanding as at November 30 th, the Fees/Fines shall be increased by 20, the Club shall be suspended from the League and Staffordshire Cricket Limited informed. On payment of the outstanding Fees / Fines in full the Club s teams will be allocated to Sections where there are vacancies. (iii) Any proposals for rule changes shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary no later than 1 September. Draft rule change proposals will be submitted to the clubs by the 14 September for club committee consultation. Any counter proposals are to be submitted by the clubs to the Secretary before the 30 September. The final rule change proposals will be submitted to all clubs before the 14 October. Each club shall submit their vote to the Secretary before the 31 October. The vote results will be presented by the Secretary at the AGM. 8. The Treasurer shall keep records of all financial affairs, which shall be audited and submitted for approval at the AGM. 9. All cheques issued by the League must be signed by two of the elected Officials. FIXTURES, RESULTS AND POINTS SYSTEM. 10. (i) Matches must be played on the night designated on the Fixture List. The designated date for cup matches will be the home clubs designated match night. Either the home or away grounds to be utilised. (ii) If a Club wishes to rearrange a League match that Club shall apply to the Fixtures/Results Administrator at least 14 days before the scheduled date of the fixture concerned stating the reason for the requested rearrangement and the proposed revised date. The F/R Administrator will contact the opposing Club. Approval for the rearrangement will only be granted at the discretion of the League if the reason for the request is deemed to be genuine. The League Web Site Administrator will amend the date of the re-arranged fixture on the League web site. This will automatically update the rearranged fixture date on the respective club web sites. Matches not rearranged as above will be subject to Rule (iv).

3 (iii). (iv) Matches affected by the weather shall not be rearranged or played in an indoor facility. In the event of a team failing to fulfil a league fixture the match will be awarded to their opponents and the offending club shall be deducted 5 points. (v) In the event of a League match not being played as set out in (i) or (ii) above, the match shall be deemed to be a draw. (vi) All Cup competitions will run on consecutive weeks following the conclusion of the League matches. (vii) All Cup competitions are optional. Excluding the U16, any team wishing to enter the Cup Competitions shall inform the Fixture/Results Administrator no later than the 30 June i.e. there will be no automatic entry into the Cup Competition. For the U16, all teams are automatically entered in the Cup competition. Teams not wishing to enter the Cup competition should inform the Fixture Secretary before 31 January. Clubs which enter more than one team in any Age Group will, under normal circumstance, only be allowed to enter one team in the relevant Cup Competition. (viii) The Fixture Secretary will produce the fixtures for each round of the cup competitions. The Home side must, offer the Away side two alternative dates in addition to the designated match night in the designated week. The Away side must accept one of the offered dates within 24 hours of receiving the offer. In the event of either side failing to meet these requirements then their opponents will progress to the next round. In the event of weather conditions preventing the match being played within the designated period (before the day preceding the next round) the match shall be decided by each player of each team bowling at an unguarded wicket, the winning team being the team with the most wickets broken. In the event of a tie, when all players have bowled, the sudden death will apply with each team having bowled the same number of balls. If a match result has not been entered on the web site before the day preceding the next round, the match shall be decided by the toss of the coin by the Knock Out Cup coordinator and both sides informed via the Play Cricket web site. The Management Committee reserve the right to eliminate one or both teams if the Committee feels that insufficient effort has been made to play the match by the due date. (ix) Cup Finals shall be played on the set designated date, on the ground of the team in the top half of the draw or if not available on the ground of the team in the lower half. If not played on the first date then the procedure shall be repeated on the back up date and subsequently until played. The League shall provide neutral Umpires. Only in exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the Management Committee, shall the Finals not be played on the set designated dates. 11 (i) On completion of the match the BOTH teams shall be equally responsible for uploading the result onto their club website within 48 hours and confirming the result is correct. This will include as a minimum the NET result in Pairs cricket (total runs scored less 5 runs off per wicket lost) for both innings and, gross runs with wickets taken for both innings for the normal (Non- Pairs) format. After a match result is uploaded the opposition are to confirm the result is correct on their club web site which will then be locked. In the event of an uploaded result not being confirmed by the opposition within 7 days of the fixture, the League Web Site Administrator (WSA) will lock the web site result. Uploading of players and full scorecard details by either team is optional. The League tables will automatically update and be available for viewing on the League web site. (ii) In the event of a result not being uploaded, by either team, within 7 days of the fixture, the League WSA will record the result as a no result on the web site and no points will be awarded to both teams. The League WSA on behalf of both clubs, will lock the no result. (iii) Clubs should maintain and complete their score sheets at all times. The League Mancom reserves the right to request hard copies of completed score sheets at any time. (iv) The posting ( or post) of the result to the Fixture / Results Administrator is optional. Any results received before midnight on the Saturday preceding the next round of matches will be posted to the local newspapers for publishing. Web site based results will not be reported to the press." 13 (i) In League matches the winning team gets 5 points and the LOSING team is awarded bonus points according to the following table: Under 16, Under 14 and Under 12 and U10 Longer Format scoring 50 runs 1 point; scoring 75 runs 2 points; scoring 100 runs 3 points

4 Under 12 Pairs and Under 10 Pairs scoring 20 runs 1 point; scoring 40 runs 2 points; scoring 50 runs 3 points (all NETT scores after deduction of wickets lost) Both teams are awarded 2 points in a match defined as a draw. In the event of the scores being level at the end of the match both teams are awarded 3 points and NO BONUS points are awarded. (ii) In Cup matches, in the event of the scores being level at the end of the match the team losing fewer wickets shall be declared the winners. If both teams have lost an equal number of wickets the team losing fewer wickets at the end of the penultimate over (and so on counting down until a decision is reached) shall be the winner. 14 The Team with the highest number of points will be adjudged Champions of their particular Section. If more than one Team have the same number of points, the Title will be shared. The League will provide twelve individual trophies for each of the Section Champions and Cup Winners at Under 16 and Under 14 level, and Under 12 Longer format, and nine individual trophies for Section Champions and Cup Winners at Under 12 Pairs and Under 10 levels. The Under 8 Teams will receive 10 Individual Trophies for winning a Longer Format Section and the Ralph Mitchell Cup. All other Under 8 Teams and Girls teams will receive 10 medallions. Clubs requiring additional Individual Trophies should inform the Fixture/Results Administrator within 2 weeks of the end of the season. Main Trophies and Individual Trophies for Section Champions will be presented at the Annual Presentation Evening. Main Trophies and Individual Trophies for Cup Winners and Runners Up will be presented at the respective Cup Final. Safe keeping of the main trophies shall be the responsibility of the relevant club until they are returned to a member of the Management Committee, which shall be no later than than the 1 st May or the Pre- Season Meeting whichever is the sooner. The loss of any League or Cup Trophy will incur the cost of a replacement by that club. 15 (i) Unless informed otherwise the Fixture/Results Administrator will schedule Under 14 and Under 10 matches for Monday evenings, Under 16 and Under 12 matches for Wednesday evenings and Under 8 matches on Saturday mornings. (ii) It shall be the responsibility of the Home team to notify the Away side of match nights not in accordance with 15 (i) and to confirm nights for Cup matches. However if the away side has not been contacted 24 hours after the date for the completion of the previous Cup round they (the away side) shall confirm the date with the home side. 16 (i) Players must be under the age of 16, 14, 12, 10, or 8 as relevant on SEPTEMBER 1st OF THE PRECEEDING YEAR, and cannot play for more than one club (unless that club does not have a team in that particular age group) in the same season. Girls will be allowed to up to one year beyond the particular Age group (e.g. under 17 of age in Under 16, under 15 years of age in Under 14 section, under 13 years of age in Under 12 section and under 11 years of age in Under 10 section). No concession is applied to the Under 8 age group where all players must be under 8 years of age. (ii) Where a Club enters more than one team in an Age Group they are required to nominate 8nr A team players in the Longer Format (U16, U14 and U12LF) and 6nr A team players in the pairs. The remaining places in the team can be filled by other Squad members who would not be subject to rules restricting them from playing in either team. Clubs are to provide the League with the A team players no later than 15 April. The League will also post the named A team player on the League web site. (iii) At the start of the season, clubs are required to prepare a Register of Players in all age groups detailing full name, date of birth and any other information the Management Committee deem necessary. All Club Registers shall be placed on the club web-site no later than April 15 th in order to demonstrate that clubs are complying with the League eligibility rules. The list may be supplemented at any time during the season. (Note: clubs are no longer required to forward hard copies to the League Secretary. 17 For Cup competitions only, where a club does not enter a side at a player s particular age group, at the discretion and agreement with the League, that player can be loaned to one other club for Cup matches only at their particular age group. At the conclusion of the Cup Competition the players are released from their loan club.

5 GENERAL PLAYING CONDITIONS. 18 Matches shall be of a maximum of 20 overs and a minimum of 10 overs per side. In an unfinished match, if less than 10 overs of the second innings have been completed the match shall be a draw (League) or no result (Cup). If more than 10 overs of the second innings have been completed the result of the match decided by the faster scoring rate of the overs completed (in Under 12 PAIRS and Under 10 PAIRS the scoring rate shall be calculated by using the number of runs scored less 5 runs for each wicket lost, the 200 runs starting figure shall not be used in the calculation). Matches to start no later than 6.30pm and earlier if possible (except April and August 6.00pm) 19 (i) Each Club shall provide an adult Umpire or one approved by the League who will agree on the fitness of the ground for play. Umpires shall wear white coats or at least light coloured clothing. Umpires shall not be changed between innings apart from illness (ii) Each Club shall provide a competent Scorer who will ensure that the Scoreboard is kept up to date at all times. (iii) The Score Box or a score board of acceptable standard ie showing runs, wickets, overs and first innings as a minimum shall be made available and the score kept up to date. Sight screens shall also be available and in position before the start of the match (iv) The Home Club shall provide two orange or pink cricket balls of approved manufacture and of equal quality; they shall be made available prior to the commencement of the match. The Away team shall select the ball they wish to bowl with, the other being used by the Home team. Should either ball become unfit for play it may be replaced with one which has had a reasonable amount of similar wear. 20 (i) The Wicketkeeper shall be nominated before all matches and shall not be changed during a match except in the event of injury. The injured wicketkeeper will not be allowed to bowl nor shall the replacement wicketkeeper have previously bowled during that match (ii) In ALL matches no fielder shall be allowed to field within 10 metres of the player batting except behind the wicket on the off side. (iii) In Under 12 PAIRS and Under 10 PAIRS matches where the batting side does not have a full team then the opposing team shall nominate a player or players to make up the shortfall. In matches where all outfield players are required to bowl and one team has less than a full side then the shortfall of overs shall be bowled by a player or players nominated by the opposing team. 21 (i) In the event of bad weather preventing any possibility of play, the Home side must contact the Away side as soon as possible. The home side shall do everything possible to ensure that the match is played but if the game has to be called off due to the conditions the home sides decision shall be final. (ii) In the event of bad weather delaying the start, the Umpires shall decide the number of overs to be bowled by each side (not less than 10) before the sides toss up, each side to bat for an equal number of overs. No match may start later than 7.45pm. 22 Under 16 (11 a-side), 14, Under 12 Longer Format and Under 10 Longer Format League Matches (i) The pitch shall be in accordance with ECB recommendations (22 yards at Under 16 & 14, 21 yards at Under 12 and 17 yards at Under 10) (ii) Each team shall comprise 11 players (iii No Bowler to bowl more than 4 overs. (iv) Player batting to retire at 35 (not to return) but all runs scored off the final ball shall count. (v) Wides and No Balls shall count as one extra run plus any runs scored any runs scored in addition. An extra ball shall be bowled for all wides and no balls. (vi) Normal LBW rules apply (vii)the ball shall be of 4 ¾ oz. for all Under 12 and Under 10 matches. 5 ½ oz for U14 and U16 matches

6 23 Under 16 (8 a-side) League & Cup Matches The U16 8 a-side format shall comply with the U16 11 a-side format and all other League Rules with the exception of the following: (i) Each team shall comprise of 8 players. (ii) All Cup matches will be 11a-side (refer to rule 24). Refer to rule 17 for the options due to a possible shortfall of players. 24 Under 16 Peter Gething, Under 14 John Davis, Under 12 Jean Mayer Cup (Longer Format)- Cup Matches (i) The pitch shall be in accordance with ECB recommendations (22 yards at Under 16 & 14, 21 yards at Under 12 and 17 yards at Under 10) (ii) Each team shall comprise 11 players (iii) Each game shall consist of 1 innings per side of maximum 20 overs. (iv) No Bowler to bowl more than 2 overs. In the event of a reduced overs match all players (except Wicket Keeper) to bowl. (v) Player batting to retire at 25 (not to return) but all runs scored off the final ball to count. (vi) Wides to count as one extra plus any runs scored in addition. An extra ball shall not be given unless the Umpire feels that the bowler deliberately bowled a wide ball. During the last 2 overs of an innings an extra ball shall be bowled for all wide balls and no balls. (vii) In the event of an injury to a fielder who has not completed their 2 overs the twelfth person shall complete the shortfall of balls. In the event of there being no twelfth person the opposition shall nominate fielders to complete the overs. (viii) Players will only be eligible to play in Semi Finals and Finals if they have played in two League matches or have specific League approval. (applies to all SMJCL cup matches). (ix) Normal LBW rules apply 25 Under 12 Pairs & U10 Pairs League, David Kettle Trophy cup matches (U12 Pairs), and Under 10 Graham Cooper Trophy (U10 pairs and U10 longer format) League and Cup Matches. (Managers/Coaches may adopt a common more flexible approach in U10 matches). (i) The pitch shall be in accordance with ECB recommendations (21 yards at Under 12 and 17 yards at Under 10) (ii) The stumps shall be as normally used. It is a recommendation that junior stumps should be used (iii) Each team shall comprise 8 players. (iv) Each game shall consist of 1 innings per side of 16 overs. (v) The ball shall be of 4 ¾ oz. (applies to all Under 12 and Under 10 matches) (vi) The batting side shall be divided into pairs each pair batting for 4 overs. (vii) Players batting shall have unlimited lives but each life shall result in five runs being deducted from the total. No player batting who is out for any reason shall face the next ball; players batting shall change ends at the fall of each wicket except on the last ball of an over. (viii) Each player on the fielding side must bowl 2 overs with the exception of the wicket keeper, no player shall bowl more that 3 overs. (ix) Each team shall commence its innings with a score of 200 runs. (x) Umpires are to ensure that no fielder shall be allowed to field nearer than 10 metres from the player batting except behind the wicket on the off side. (xi) A substitute shall be allowed to take the place of an injured player. (Clubs to agree the extent of their involvement). (xii) Wides and No balls shall count as one extra plus any runs scored otherwise. An extra ball shall not be given unless the Umpire feels that the bowler deliberately bowled a Wide or No ball, except during the last two overs of each innings when an extra ball shall be given for all Wides and No balls (xiii) Players batting in Under 10 matches shall not be given out LBW unless they deliberately stop the ball hitting the stumps with their person making no attempt to play the ball with their bat. Normal LBW rules apply to all other Age Groups excluding the U8 s (ix) Players will only be eligible to play in Semi Finals and Finals if they have played in two League matches, or have specific League approval. (applies to all SMJCL cup matches).

7 26 Players Averages U10 and U12 will receive awards for batting and bowling only. All statistics for all formats (League matches only) will be taken directly from the league web site by the FRA where clubs have completed the scorecards. A minimum of 8 league matches must be completed for inclusion in the League Averages (This may be amended by the Mancom where necessary). 27 The League shall be a helmeted League ; therefore in all matches (and practice sessions) Players batting and Wicket Keepers shall wear helmets at all time. Parental Consent Forms will not be accepted. 28 Matches shall be played in accordance with the MCC Laws of Cricket (2000 code) with the exception of the award of 5 penalty runs under laws 2, 18 and Clubs shall report to the League Secretary, all incidents/situations which are not in accordance with the ECB Code of Conduct or S.M.J.C.L. Rules, either as a note for record purposes only or as an official complaint. All official protests, complaints etc shall be submitted in writing to the Assistant Secretary together with a cheque for 25 made payable to the S.M.J.C.L. within 48 hours of the incident, occurring / situation arising. They will be dealt with by the Officers of the League in accordance with League Rule 5. Any Disciplinary action taken shall be reported to Staffordshire Cricket CDM and all relevant leagues and will apply to all Affiliated Competitions.. In the event of the protest / complaint being upheld the 25 will be returned. Should the protest / complaint be dismissed the 25 shall be retained by the League. All Disciplinary Hearings and Appeals shall be conducted in accordance with the ECB Guidelines for Disciplinary Hearings and Appeals. 30 Introduction of a Incrediball League - details to be agreed subject to interest. 8 SOUTH MOORLANDS (TROPHY SUPPLIES) JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE APPENDIX A UNDER 8 SOFTBALL GENERAL PLAYING CONDITIONS LONGER FORMAT (2018 Season revisions in italics) 1 General All rules shall be in accordance with the relevant South Moorlands Junior League rules unless noted otherwise below. 2. Competition It is intended that there will be a competitive element and points will be awarded to winning teams with a view to determining group winners. 3. Teams Each team which may be of mixed gender shall consist of 8 players. Players must be at least 6 (six) years of age but less than 8 years of age on September 1 st of the preceding year. (NB there will be no age concessions for girls) 4. Equipment and Pitch Standard KWIK (or similar) equipment will be used (wooden bats are NOT permitted) and the pitch shall be of 15 yards and marked with a popping crease at each end. A junior size wind ball will be used. The base shall be considered as part of the stumps. 5. League Match Format The matches will be of two innings for each side, each innings consisting of 8 overs. The batters will bat in pairs for two overs and each member of the fielding side will bowl one over each in turn. Bowling will be encouraged as overarm but underarm will be permitted if necessary. All bowling will be from the same end with fielders rotating clockwise around the field to take their turn bowling and each fielder will consequently keep wicket for one over in each innings. Batters will change ends at the fall of each wicket and at the end of the over. Batters who are given out shall not face the next ball. Each innings will start at 200 runs with additional runs added as they are scored according to the Laws of the game. Each wicket to fall will result in 5 runs being deducted from the overall innings total. 6. Wide Ball and No Ball In general terms the Laws of the game should be applied with discretion and consistency. A ball must be called as a wide taking into account the physique of the batter receiving. If called as a wide 1 run shall be added to the batting side s total plus any further byes but an extra ball shall NOT be bowled. Similarly should a ball be called as a no-ball 1 run plus any subsequent runs scored shall be added to the total but an extra ball shall NOT be bowled. Umpires shall use their discretion if it is in their considered opinion that a no ball or wide ball as been bowled deliberately in the final two overs of an innings (difficulties with no balls may be more pronounced with underarm bowling) 7. L.B.W. The LBW law will not be applied unless the batter is deliberately defending the stumps with legs or other parts of the body. (The Committee feel that a warning may be appropriate before an out decision is given) 8. Match Result The team with the highest total of runs from both innings added together following deductions for wickets lost shall be declared as match winners.

9 League points will be awarded as follows The winning team 5 points A tied match (scores equal irrespective of wickets) 3 points An un-played match due to weather etc 2 points Each losing team completing their innings with a total of point A team failing to fulfil a fixture will be deducted 5 points and the win awarded to the opposing team. In the event of bad weather preventing the completion of a match, if both teams have completed their first innings, the team with the highest net score from the first innings shall be declared the winner. Bonus points will apply for losing teams having more than 200 net runs. If the first innings have not been completed the match shall be deemed to be a draw. 9. Match Dates All matches are to be played by the due date set by the Committee, i.e. any evening, Saturday Morning or Sunday Morning it is the responsibility of the home side to contact the opposition in accordance with the SMJCL League Rules to mutually arrange a date convenient to both clubs. 10. Result (i) On completion of the match BOTH teams shall be responsible for uploading the result onto their club website within 48 hours and confirming the result is correct if already uploaded. This will include as a minimum the nett score, the actual runs scored by the batting side (in both innings), the number of overs bowled (in both innings) and the number of wickets taken (in both innings). After a match result is uploaded the opposition are to confirm the result is correct on their club web site which will then be locked. In the event of an uploaded result not being confirmed by the opposition within 7 days of the fixture, the League Web Site Administrator will lock the web site result. Uploading of players and full scorecard details by either team is optional. The League tables will automatically update and be available for viewing on the League web site. (ii) In the event of a result not being uploaded, by either team, within 7 days of the fixture, the League Web Sire Administrator (WSA) will record the result as a no result on the web site. The League WSA on behalf of both clubs, will lock the no result and award 0 points to both teams. (iii) Clubs should maintain and complete their score sheets at all times. The League Mancom reserves the right to request hard copies of completed score sheets at any time. iv) The posting ( or post) of the result to the Fixture / Results Administrator is optional. Any results received before midnight on the Saturday preceding the next round of matches will be posted to the local newspapers for publishing. Web site based results will not be reported to the press." 11. CUP COMPETITION 11.1 Organisation Member clubs wishing to compete should inform the Cup or Results Administrator before the 30 th June Cup Match Format Cup matches shall be played following the same format as for League matches, the winning side will progress to the next round. 10 SOUTH MOORLANDS (TROPHY SUPPLIES) JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE UNDER 8 SOFTBALL REGULATIONS NON LEAGUE FORMAT (2018 Season revisions in italics) 1. Organisation Member Clubs will be placed in an U8 pool of teams. Each team manager will contact an opposition team manager (refer to contacts list) with a view to arranging an U8 match, at either ground, in accordance with the following rules: 2. Competition It is the intention that this section is to be primarily a learning element with the competitive element secondary. 3. Teams Each team which may be of mixed gender, shall consist of 8 players. Players should be at least 6 (six) years of age but less that 8 years of age on September 1 st of the preceding year but agreement shall be reached between teams on using overage players before the start of a match. 4. Equipment and Pitch Standard KWIK (or similar) equipment will be used (wooden bats are NOT permitted) and the pitch shall be of 15 yards and marked with a popping crease at each end. A junior size wind ball will be used. The base shall be considered as part of the stumps. 5. League Match Format The matches will be of one innings for each side consisting of 8 overs. The batters will bat in pairs for two overs and each member of the fielding side will bowl one over. Bowling will be encouraged as overarm but underarm will be permitted if necessary. In order to facilitate the number of matches required all bowling will be from the same end with fielders rotating clockwise around the field to take their turn bowling and each fielder will consequently keep wicket for one over. Batters will change ends at the fall of each wicket and at the end of the over. Batters who are given out shall not face the next ball. Each innings will start at 200 runs with additional runs added as they are scored according to the Laws of the game. Each wicket to fall will result in 5 runs being deducted from the overall innings total. 6. Wide Ball and No Ball In general terms the Laws of the game should be applied with discretion and consistency. A ball must be called as a wide taking into account the physique of the batter receiving. If called as a wide 1 run shall be added to the batting side s total plus any further byes but an extra ball shall NOT be bowled. Similarly should a ball be called as a no-ball 1 run plus any subsequent runs scored shall be added to the total but an extra ball shall NOT be bowled. Umpires shall use their discretion if it is in their considered opinion that a no ball or wide ball as been bowled deliberately in the final two overs of an innings (difficulties with no balls may be more pronounced with underarm bowling) 7. L.B.W. The LBW law will not be applied unless the batter is deliberately defending the stumps with legs or other parts of the body. (The Committee feel that a warning may be appropriate before an out decision is given) 8. Match Result

This will include as a minimum the nett score, the actual runs scored by the batting side (in both innings), the number of overs bowled (in both innings) and the number of wickets taken (in both innings). After a match result is uploaded the opposition are to confirm the result is correct on their club web site which will then be locked.
