(Singles Open Friendship Tournament) is a series of tournaments organized from bowlers for bowlers. There is no big secret here: Bowling is the game we love and we do our part in promoting the sport, in a time where a general decline in the interest for bowling is more than obvious. In a period where financial hardship is hitting all aspects of life, bowling, being not cheap to practise, has probably sustained the biggest losses compared to other sports. We see bowling Centers closing down every day, we see less and less help from sponsors and the state, there is no promotion in the local media; the only real hope for the sport is amongst the bowlers themselves. In a time when the bowling open tournaments have totally vanished from Cyprus, we have decided to listen to the call of the local bowlers and jump in, offering them the chance to compete again and live the thrills such tournaments can offer. We have already successfully held 2 events and the time have come to call up bowlers from across the borders. The success and continuing of S.O.F.T. depends totally on you - the bowlers. We hope our events will be embraced by you! Give us the strength and boost we need to make S.O.F.T. an institution for years to come. We believe in the excellent preparation and flawless organization of our tournaments. There is no compromise with mediocrity; we constantly seek for improvement and modernisation of our ideas and methods. We do this on a daily basis and we are committed to it. We need you to help us so Bowlers unite and join the effort! Apparently, more people can practise horse jumping so it s only right that bowling is not at the Olympics! Page 2

Tour / STOP 3 ROCK N BOWL OPEN 2016 Cyprus tucked away in the top right hand corner of the Mediterranean, is so close to Europe, Asia and Africa that it rightly, claims to be a stepping stone to three continents. An island whose rich dramatic history can be traced back over nine thousand years; an island so coveted over the centuries that it has been invaded and claimed by a fascinating mixture of civilizations from near and far all of which have left their culture and shaped its character. An island whose archaeology stems from the Neolithic Age, the Ancient Greeks and the Roman period; where churches and monasteries still stand from Byzantine times; castles and palaces from the days of Crusaders and Frankish Lusignans and splendid city walls from Venetian days. An island chosen by the mythical gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece who indulged themselves here in sport pleasure and tragedy; where Aphrodite goddess of love and beauty, emerged from the Paphos foam to become a famous cult figure - centre of attraction for the first visitors who flocked to the island to worship her. With such a historic and legendary background it is hardly surprising that Cyprus has developed a character that is quite unique. It is blessed with beauty, natural beauty that ranges from golden beaches. The Great Goddess of Cyprus may still be present all over "the Sweet Land of Cyprus" where love so easily springs up among the beauty of the landscape, the mildness of the climate and the charm of its people. The third largest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus stretches 150 miles (240 km) from the west coast to its easternmost tip and 60 miles (96 km) from north to south. Two imposing mountain ranges act as a dramatic backcloth to the sweeping central Mesaoria plain. There are six major towns Nicosia, the capital situated inland in the middle of the Mesaoria plain, and the 5 coastal towns of Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Kyrenia and Famagusta. The latter two, in the north and east respectively, have been under Turkish occupation since Cyprus's landscape is one of infinite contrasts, from its fertile central plain to the cool vine-clad foothills; the majesty of the cedar valley in which wild indigenous mouflon roam; mile after mile of sandy shores with secluded beaches to seek out, and hundreds of villages to explore each with its own tradition and charm. Tour / STOP 3 ROCK N BOWL OPEN 2016 Rock 'N' Bowl Bowling Center functioned in November 2003 with fundamental objective reviving the whole idea of bowling as an activity of amusement, in Larnaca and Famagusta region. It s a fully air-conditioned Bowling Center that has 15 bowling lanes offering enough ways of amusement from Fun Bowling up to the possibility of competitive professional bowling. The building, having the possibility to offer continuous amusement, is separated in three floors and is equipped with big screens, televisions plasma and a sound system. There are cafeterias, playground and other entertainment facilities, as billiard tables, video games and bar. The exterior veranda is an ideal space where somebody can enjoy his coffee and relax with a lovely seaview. Various athletic events can be organized at Rock 'N' Bowl Bowling Center but also musical concerts. Ideal space for school excursions, other events and parties, organized by companies and of course an ideal place for birthday parties for kids. Glow bowling is a unique experience that worth somebody to experience. An astonishing combination of music and bright environment with disco lights and black fluorescents lamps. 7 GENERAL RULES / DETAILS `1 st Bowling S.O.F.T. Tour / STOP 3 GENERAL: The bowlers are divided in 2 categories, General & B - according to the published list (Local Bowlers only). All Bowlers who were not playing last season will be placed in B Bowlers Category. All bowlers from overseas (not living in Cyprus) are placed in the General Category. All Bowlers who played for Cyprus National Team in the past are placed in the General Category. Women are placed in the same Categories. Women and Youth under 18y.o. have 8 pins handicap per game. All bowlers participate in the General Category. B Bowlers are participating in the B Bowlers competition parallel to the main event. B Bowlers will have their own finals and extra money awards. Maximum Scratch Game for Women and U18 is 292. Youth Under 18 are considered all who were born after 30/06/1997. Senior Bowlers are considered all who were born prior to 01/07/1966. LANE CHANGING: After the 1 st and then the 3 rd game, those bowlers who are placed on ODD lane numbers move two (2) lanes to the left and those who are placed on EVEN lane numbers move two (2) lanes to the right. WARM UP: Qualification Round: Eight (8) to Ten (10) minutes, depending on Squad s size. Step 2: Ten (10) min. / Step 3: Ten (10) min. / Step 4: Four (4) min. MINIMUM SQUAD SIZE: No Pacers will be used in case of not equal number of bowlers on each pair of lanes. The minimum number of bowlers on a pair of lanes is three (3) and the maximum is five (5). The minimum number of bowlers in any Squad is six (6). RE-ENTRY: Each bowler can play unlimited Re-entry Sessions of 5 games each. Someone can replace both Entry Sessions, if the Re-entry Sessions are both of higher scores. TURBO: It applies on any game of the declared squad. Page 7

8 TOURNAMENT FORMAT / DESCRIPTION `1 st Bowling S.O.F.T. Tour / STOP 3 Step 1 / QUALIFICATION (PRELIMINARY) ROUND (17/4/ /4/2016): Each bowler has to play in at least two (2) squads of five (5) games each. The total pinfall of the two best squads of each bowler will be taken into consideration. In General Category total 30 bowlers will qualify to the finals and earn cash awards according to their final rank. Qualification in the finals is achieved as follows: (1) 24 bowlers qualify directly according to their total pinfall in the preliminary round. - From 1 st to 4 th position (4 bowlers) will qualify to Step 4 / Final Step. - From 5 th to 10 th position (6 bowlers) will qualify to Step 3. - Από την 11 th to 24 th position (14 bowlers) will qualify to Step 2. (2) The four (4) non-qualified bowlers, with the top four (4) Highest Re-ENTRY scores (5 games Session) will qualify and placed on spots 25 to 28 of Step 2, according to their classification in the Re-Entries Table.. (Only one Session of 5 games is needed, NOT TWO). Then Each bowler is eligible to declare unlimited Re-Entries. In case of draw in the Re-Entries table, the last game of the series in count is taken in consideration, then the second last and so on. Then (3) Two (2) non-qualified bowlers, by any of the above criteria, with the two (2) Highest TURBO games will qualify and placed on spots 29 & 30 of Step 2. Unlimited Turbos allowed. In case of draw, such is solved by the Bowler s rank in the Qualification Round. In the B Bowlers Category, 12 Bowlers will qualify in the Finals and shall win awards, as follows: (1) Eight (8) Bowlers will qualify to B Bowlers Finals according to their rank in the Qualification Round placed on spots 1-8. Then (2) Two (2) Bowlers with the Highest Re-Entry Series (5 games only), not qualified by their rank, shall qualify to the B Bowlers Finals and will be placed on spots 9 & 10, according to their classification in the B Bowlers Re- Entries Table. Unlimited Re-Entries are allowed. In case of draw in the B-Bowlers Re-Entries table, the last game of the series in count is taken in consideration, then the second last and so on. Then (3) Two (2) Bowlers with the Highest Turbo Game, not qualified by the previous criteria, will also qualify to the B Bowlers Finals and placed at spots 11 & 12. Unlimited Turbos allowed. In case of draw, such is solved by the Bowler s rank in the Qualification Round. In case of draw in the Classification Table of the Qualification Round, such is solved by the High Game of ANY of the Bowler s series. If the draw still stands, it is settled by the Highest Series, then the Second Highest Series etc. Page 8

9 FINAL STEPS OF GENERAL CATEGORY (24/4/2016): All pins are set to zero (0). After each step, all pins are again set to zero. (STEP 2): Twenty (20) qualified bowlers who were placed in positions as described in details further up (Paragraph: Step 1 / Preliminary Round), will participate in Step 2. The bowlers will be placed in four (4) groups as follows: TABLE A (There will be no lane changing) STEP 2 GROUPS AND LANES STEP 2A GROUP A B C D LANES QUALIF QUALIF QUALIF STEP 2B LANES GAME 2nd A vs 2nd D 2nd B vs 2nd C STEP 2a: There is no Lane Changing. The Bowlers compete against the other Bowlers of their group ONLY. They play 3 Games and collect pins. The last 3 of each group are eliminated; they are placed in the final tournaments rank from according to their classification in the Qualification round and are credited Tour Points as per Tour Points Table. The winner of each group goes to STEP 3. The runner ups of each group go to STEP 2B. In case of draw, the last highest game is taken in consideration, then the second last highest etc. STEP 2b: The runner ups of the previous round of STEP 2 shall form two pairs and will compete in 1 Match of 1 Game as follows: 2 nd of A vs 2 nd of D & 2 nd of B vs 2 nd of C. The winner of each match goes to the next step. The losers are eliminated, placed at the final ranks 17 & 18 according to their classification in the Qualification Round and are credited Tour Points as per Tour Points Table. The Bowler with the highest rank in the Qualification Round may choose the lane left or right to be placed on and can also choose to start the Match first. In case of a draw, a one shot Roll Off shall be used, according to ETBF rules. Page 9

10 (STEP 3): 12 Bowlers, 6 from Qualifying Round and 6 from previous Step, are placed in 3 groups, as per table below. They will compete within their groups in 3 games collecting pins. The winners of each group go the Step 4. TABLE B Next to the winners, from the eliminated Bowlers, the one with the highest pin count shall also move to Step 4, therefore; After each game the complete group as one, moves to the next pair of lanes to the right. Lanes 1 & 2 shall not be used. The eliminated players shall occupy the Tournament s Final Ranks from 9 th to 16 th, according to their total pin count in Step 3. In case of draw, the last highest game is taken in consideration, then the second last highest etc. (STEP 4): STEP 3 GROUPS AND LANES GROUP A B C LANES G LANES G LANES G QUALIF STEP 2 WIN A 2nd B/C WIN B 2nd A/D WIN C WIN D Eight (8) participants, (4 from Qualification Round and 4 from Step 3), shall compete in a Round Robin Championship, where they shall play in 7 rounds, 1 match of 1 game against every other player in the group and shall collect points for winning and special score achievements, as per relevant Points Table. The Bowlers are ranked according to their accumulated points. The matches will be played on 8 lanes. Tour 2015/16) In case of a draw in a match, a one shot Roll Off is settling the tie as per ETBF rules. All 8 Bowlers shall be ranked according to their total Round Robin points and are credited Tournament Points as per the Tour Points Table. The Tour Points table has been adjusted to match the format of the specific tournament. The 30 Winners of the General Category shall share the Prize Fund according to the Awards Table. Such fund is directly related to the number of Entries and Re-Entries of the Tournament, as described in the relevant Table. Furthermore, 2 non-qualified Senior bowlers, shall also be awarded. The player with the Highest Game in the QUALIFICATION ROUND shall also receive an award. In case of draw, the award is received by the Bowler with the highest rank in the Qualification Round. The High Game competition ENDS with the completion of the Qualification Round. Page 11

12 FINAL STEPS OF B BOWLERS CATEGORY (24/4/2016): The twelve (12) qualified players are assigned to the lanes as per relevant table below. They shall play in 2 games, collecting pins. After the two games the two (2) top players go to the final, the other ten (10) bowlers are eliminated. After Game 1, Odd Lanes move 2 lanes to the left and Even Lanes move two lanes to the right. Pin count is set to 0. The two (2) qualified Bowlers, shall compete in a 1 Game Match, starting from scratch. The player ranked higher after the first two games, chooses the lane setup, left or right and has the right to start first if wanted. After completion, the player with the highest score wins the B-Bowlers competition and receives the award for position 1 as described in the Awards Table. The looser receives the award for 2 nd place. Awards shall be given also to the rest (10 Bowlers) as per the Awards Table. The final B Bowlers match shall take place on a neutral pair of lanes if possible. If not, then such pair shall be chosen by draw. The Bowler with the highest rank after the first two games, shall draw. The B Bowlers Competition does not in any way effect the General Category competition, nor is it taken in consideration in the distribution of Tour Points. RESULTS PUBLICATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS For better understanding, the ranking in the qualification round is calculated by AVERAGE. Next to the AVERAGES list, there will also be the QUALIFICATION list, according to at the time available criteria. Additionally, there will be lists for the Turbos, Re-Entries etc. All lists shall be published only after the minimum required bowlers for such publication, have played. POINT SYSTEM for 3 rd STOP of 1 st Bowling S.O.F.T. Tour At tournament's end, all participants are been credited points, according to their final Tournament Rank, according to the Tour's Proclamation and table at the end. 15 AWARDS: `1 st Bowling S.O.F.T. Tour / STOP 3 There will be given in total forty-five (45) money awards. Thirty (30), bowlers are been awarded according to their final rank, as per table. Twelve (12) B Bowlers (local) who are qualified to B Bowlers Finals are also been awarded cash prizes. Two (2) non-qualified Senior Bowlers, also not qualified as B Bowlers, are also been awarded cash prizes, according to their rank in the qualification round. The Bowler (1) scoring the highest Re-Entry Session is also been awarded. The Bowler with the Qualification Round HIGH GAME, is also been awarded. In case of tie, the player who will be higher in the qualification round is receiving the award (NOT according to the final rank of the tournament).
