Put your paper ball on your foot/other foot, knee/other knee, shoulder/other shoulder, put it on your head let s sing a song point to your friend let s draw a picture cut it out of paper (Have you finished?) Look, what it is? A paper ball! And a paper ball! Hello, paper ball. (repeat) How are you? I m fine and what about you? (repeat) Goodbye. Take your ball. Raise it up. Put it down. Put it on your foot. Put it on your knee. Put it on your other foot... Put it on your nose. Take your ball and let s play a game. We do the correcponding actions with our own paper ball. The children copy our movement and percieve the language instructions. Entertain the children by tuning their ear to new words (they don t have to master them!!!) Accompany the song with the corresponding movement Children draw a circle with the coloured pencils (fine motor skills) Then they cut the shape out Children have two paper balls (one flat and one 3D) and do role-play We do the same with our own paper ball. The children copy our movement and percieve the language instructions. Children copy the activities with the paper ball. These fine organisational chants help you keep order during the transition.

Give me your ball please. Thank you. Red, yellow, blue, green House Ball racing Whatever children repeat spontaneously Another transition chant: Raise your ball up Put it on your ear Don t say and word and please come here Give me your ball please. Thank you. ( You re welcome. ) A ball, a ball, a ball, a ball. Are they the same? No, they aren t. This is a red ball. RED. This ball is yellow. YELLOW. This ball is green. GREEN. Green? (and point at the yellow one). No. A paper ball? Yes! And this is a blue ball. BLUE. Red. Yellow, green, blue. Is this blue? No, it s yellow! Look what I have here. Is this a ball? No, it s a house. What colour is the house? Is it red. A RED HOUSE. A red ball, a red house. Is it blue? No! Blue balls, run around and go back. Red balls run to the yellow house. Green balls run to the blue house. Colour in the balls, one is red, one is blue, green, yellow Miming the words, eliciting the reaction. (we can use a puppet to demonstrate). Then indicate to exchange the balls, using the phrases You re welcome. If the child tries on their own, praise them We demonstrate using different balls first to show difference, then we use the same colour to reinforce the aspect of colour. Use voice techniques to indicate the balls are not the same then provide the children with the right answer. Next time the children know how to react, at least the faster ones. Play with key words and point at various paper balls to elicit the correct answer. Play with houses and colours, trying to show what the balls and houses have in common. Colourful cars, chlidren run out of their colour houses if you raise their colour (two at a time). Let the children decide on which colour is to be next Materiály: 2

children s vocabulary: teacher s words actions I can say hello song you - me squeeze, press, roll/roll catch, take (spontaneious passive repeating) wave your hand, point at you, point at your partner Let s make colourful balls. make the ball, squeeze the paper, press it tight, roll it. The text of the song Hello Ball song Motivation and joining in a red ball, a yellow ball, blue, green give me all your ball please, look at the balls Children try to use words they know. They ususally say house and name colours. Sometimes they say the word in mother tongue. Say Yes, but with unfinished tone as if you were waiting for someting better then say the right word in English. Now, are you ready for a story? Let s listen to it What is it? It s a house. What colour is the house? Now look, this is a garden. What colour is the garden? Yes, it s green. It s a green garden. A garden around the house. This is a tree. Is it green? Yes, it s green, the same colour as the garden. A tree in the garden, the garden around the house. This is grass, yes, it s green, too. Green grass under the tree. And this is a flower. What colour is it? Yes, it s red. And yellow. And green. It s a red, yellow and green flower. And look what is this, a ball! What colour is the ball? Yes, it s yellow. And look, here is another ball. What colour is this ball? Yes, it s blue. Now listen to the story: Story: This is a blue ball. It s small. This is a yellow ball. It s big. The Small Blue Ball rolls and rolls along the house. The Big Yellow Ball jumps over the house. The Small Blue Ball rolls and rolls around the garden. The Big Yellow Ball jumps into the garden. The Small Blue Ball rolls and rolls on the grass. Materiály: 3 We demonstrate the movement of the song, wave our hand with every HELLO, point at the partner with YOU and at us with ME We make the paper balls out of colourful pieces of paper rolling Demonstration according to the instructions Teacher places one picture stand after another and introduces the pictures. Teacher shows appropriate gestures to provide the meaning for her words. Teachers shows a picture of a ball on a stick. Then she slides another ball hidden behind the big yellow ball.

Children join in the story with individual words they remember from the text. I Can Say Goodbye song The Big Yellow Ball jumps on the grass. The Small Blue Ball rolls and rolls around the tree. The Big Yellow Ball jumps over the tree. The Small Blue Ball rolls and rolls around the flower. The Big Yellow Ball jumps over the flower. Oh. It jumps ON the red flower. Ouch! says the flower. I am sorry, says the Big Yellow Ball. I am sorry, says the Small Blue Ball. The flower smiles. That s fine, it says. Let s have fun! And the Small Blue Ball rolls around the flower, the Big Yellow Ball jumps AROUND the flower and the red flower dances in the middle. They re having fun! If the children want to, play again, and again, if necessary. The song is the same as I can say hello. This time we wave goodbye like this Ask the children in mother tongue if they liked the story (their feelings and impressions must go out and they don t have enough language) and let them realise you were very busy handling the two balls and the flower. Mime that you d like to share the flower with children to hold it. A lot of children apply to help, so ask them to hold a house, garden, tree and grass too. Then act with the balls again, looking exhaused after all that running, so offer even the balls to be handled by children. Once they have the stick puppets in their hands, they feel responsible to join in talking (words) Repeat the movements from the initial song I can say hello, only change the gesture for Good-bye. Materiály: 4

Colours children s vocabulary: teacher s words actions I Can Say Hello song Let s play a game. Take your colour ball. Green balls, come here. Blue balls come here. Red balls, come here. Yellow balls, go there. We offer the children their paper balls and organise the space using a lot of non-verbal means. In a circle - ask children about their paper balls. First we ask and What colour is your ball? Red, blue, green, yellow answer, then encourage the child to speak together with you, finally (It s) red. (It s) green. (It s) blue. (It s) yellow. give the child the chance to utter the phrase. Red, blue, green, yellow Put your ball on the same picture Children use the paper balls and draw flat balls from Day1. My Blue Train rhyme A big blue ball. A small red ball. Hello, yellow ball. Hello, blue ball. I Can Say Goodbye song Now listen. Do you know the colours? Can you try with me? Now listen and colour. Now look at your card. When you hear your picture, say it again and add the other picture from your card. Put the pictures on the floor with the rhyme. Encourage the children to join in. Then attach the pictures on walls with blue-tack and let the children run to the correct picture while saying the chant. First line is a text for the children (but omit MY while dictating). The rest is the choice of the children let them decide. Demonstrate playing the chain game with the domino cards. Meeting game. We use songs at the beginning and the end of each lesson (exchange) Colouring in the balls, worksheet: Materiály: 5
