APAT.02 The accurate skill test for pool players! LEVEL 2 Recommended by Translated by Josh Curry (USA)

How to start? 1. Play through the entire set of drills at least one time. Use the test page to keep track of your progress. Enter your results and calculate your overall score. The rules for each drill can be found on the following pages. If you have completed the APAT.01 before you should expect your score to be approximately points lower at first. For example, if you are averaging 850 points in APAT.01 you can expect about points in APAT After you go through the entire test, during your next practice session, you should repeat the drills that you scored less than 80% on. This is known as Re-testing. Practice the drill at least 3 or more times and write down your points, average, and score. Do this once a week for 3 weeks. Look at your scores again to figure out where your real weaknesses are. 3. If your results are consistently over 80% during the next 3 weeks for a specific drill you probably don't need to focus on that one anymore. If you are still scoring less than 80% you should do one or more of the following. a. Continue to practice the drill weekly until you achieve a score of 80% or greater over a 3 week period, or greater than 100% for 2 weeks in a row. b. Practice parts of the drill separately, watch other better players perform the drill, search the Internet for help, or consult an instructor. 4. After 3 months, perform another complete test just like you did the first time. Can you score more than 800 total points? If you can score more than 800 points you are ready to move on to APAT.03 where new and challenging drills are waiting for you. The Ultimate Challenge: Play the test under the observation of an official APAT Examiner (check our website for a list) and win an official WPA PAT emblem! Can you take the pressure?

APAT 2.01 Speed Control Shoot the balls in order and into their respective target zones. The balls do not need to be set up ahead of time. Start with the 1-ball along the head-string and shoot it into the Speed 1 target zone. Leave the ball where it stops regardless of its position. Shoot the 2-ball next into the Speed 1.5 target zone. Continue shooting balls 2 through 7 into their respective target zones. Each target zone is 2 diamonds long. The goal of this exercise is to test your speed control, so the designated speed zones are valid for the entire table width. However, the ball you are shooting may not contact another object ball or one of the long rails. If it does, you do not get a point for that shot even if it lands within the target zone. Can you successfully shoot all 7 balls into their respective target zones? What is your average? Average x Factor = Score %. Line No Yes No Yes No No Yes No Yes

APAT 2.02 Straightness in stop, follow and draw shots Place the 5 object balls according to the diagram in the middle of the table at the full and half diamond crossing lines. You will start with the cue ball in hand behind the head string and should try to place it as straight as possible with the designated object ball. Shoot the first 5 balls as a stop shot. The object ball should travel down to the bottom rail, rebound, and come back to hit the cue ball again. This will show you how straight your shot really is! Play the next 5 balls as follow shots and the 5 after that as draw shots. Pay attention to the designated kick zones in the diagram. The second collision between the object and cue ball should occur in this area. What is your average? Average x Factor = Score %. Line No Yes No Yes No No Yes No Yes

APAT 2.03a Shot Efficiency and Control Place the 10 object balls is they appear in the diagram, along the 3rd diamond with at least a 1 ball gap between the outer ball and the rail. Take the cue ball in hand behind the head string. You must sink the object ball and the cue ball must come to rest within the given target zone to get 1 point. Each target zone is 1 diamond long and is good for the entire table width. Start with target zone F1 and proceed in order to F10. Limited No Yes No No No No No No Yes

APAT 2.03b Shot Efficiency and Control Same as before in 2.03a except that there is now a 2 diamond gap between the balls and you will take ball in hand along the 3rd diamond line. Attempt to draw the cue ball into the designated target zones. The test will consist of the follow drill once and the draw drill twice. Divide your total points by 3 to get your average Limited No Yes No No No No No No Yes

APAT 2.04 Shot Making Place all 10 object balls according to the diagram. The 1 and 10 balls should have a 1 ball gap between them and the rail. The 5 and 6 balls should also have a 1 ball gap between them. Space out the remaining balls evenly. After starting the drill you can t make any corrections to their position. A) Shoot the object balls in order with the cue ball starting at position 'A'. The cue ball may not contact any other object balls or scratch. Balls 1-4 go into the pocket A and balls 5-10 go into pocket F. B) Same as A except that you shoot from position B. You may play the 4-ball into either pocket A or F. C) Same as B except that you shoot from position C. How many balls can you sink in average? Average x Factor = Score %. No No Yes No No No No No No Yes

APAT 2.05a Small Area Position Play Place object balls 1-10 according to diagram A. The 1-ball is on the foot spot and the 10-ball is on the head spot. Place the rest in order spaced out evenly. You start with the cue ball in hand anywhere on the table. Shoot the balls in order in either direction starting with the 1 ball or the 10 ball. The cue ball may not collide with any other object balls or scratch. Only pockets A, B, and C are available. Play each drill 3 times and divide by 6 to get your average. Average x Factor = Score %. Yes No Yes No No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.05b Small Area Position Play Same rules as before in 2.05a except that only pockets A and F are available. The 1 and 10 balls should have a 1 ball gap between them and the rail. Space out the remaining balls evenly. Play each drill 3 times and divide by 6 to get your average. Average x Factor = Score %. Yes No Yes No No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.06a Large Area Position Play Place all 10 object balls according to the diagram. The 8 and 10 balls should have a 1 ball gap between them and the rail and the 9 ball should have a half ball gap. You start with the cue ball in hand and must pocket the balls in order. The cue ball may not collide with any other object balls or scratch. All pockets are available. Yes No Yes Yes No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.06b Large Area Position Play Same rules as before in 2.06a. The 10 ball should be 1 ball away from the pocket shelf. The 2 and 9 ball should be along the center axis of the table. The 1 ball should have a 1 ball gap between it and the rail. Balls 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 must go into pocket F and balls 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 must go into pocket A. Average x Factor = Score %. Yes No Yes Yes No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.07a Frozen Rail Situations Place 6 object balls frozen to the rail according to diagram a. You start with the cue ball in hand and must pocket the balls in order into pocket A. The cue ball may not come in contact with another object ball or scratch. Play each drill 3 times and divide by 6 to get your average. Average x Factor = Score %. Yes No Yes No No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.07b Frozen Rail Situations Place any 8 object balls according to diagram b. You start with cue ball in hand before each shot. Play the 'Z' ball into pocket A and make the cue ball contact the rail at gap 1. On the next shot the cue ball has to contact the rail at gap 2. You must sink the 'Z' ball and contact the rail at the correct spot for the shot to count. The cue ball may NOT contact more than one rail after sinking the 'Z' ball. Play each drill 3 times and divide by 6 to get your average. Average x Factor = Score %. Yes No Yes Yes No Yes No No No Yes

APAT 2.08 Large Area Position Play, Continuous Place the 1 and 2 balls according to the diagram on the diamond crossing lines. You start with ball in hand behind the center line of the table. Play the 1 ball into pocket A or F and bring the cue ball back behind the center line with position on the 2 ball. Continue with the 2 ball and try to get position on where the 1 ball was. After pocketing both balls place the 3 and 4 balls where the 1 and 2 balls were previously. Continue like this until you pocket the 9 and 10 balls. You can play this exercise in an endless fashion but for testing purposes the highest score possible is 10. Play 3 innings for testing purposes. For any re-testing or general practice sessions we recommend 10 innings. Average x Factor = Score %. Limited No Yes No No Yes No No No Yes
