4 AUGUSTA USBC BOWLING ASSOCIATION ALL STAR RULES AND GUIDELINES The following pages contain three versions of the All Star Rules and Guidelines. The first two pages reflect the most recently available information. The third page reflects the All Star rules as published in the Yearbook, and the fourth page is taken from the yearbook. A request will be made to the All Star Committee to review these Rules and Guidelines and forward a recommendation to the Augusta USBC Bowling Association Board of Directors so that a more current and up-to-date document can be published.

5 AUGUSTA USBC BOWLING ASSOCIATION ALL STAR RULES AND GUIDELINES It shall be the policy of the Augusta USBC Bowling Association to name All Star teams and Bowlers of the Year annually. The All Star teams, both the Regular and Senior, will be comprised of eligible members of the Augusta USBC Bowling Association that have bowled a minimum of 150 games during the previous season. The Augusta USBC Bowling Association "Bowler of the Year" and "Senior Bowler of the Year awards will be given to the bowlers with the highest composite average in each category. Selection Procedures for the AUSBCBA All Star teams and Bowler of the Year are: 1. All eligible candidates must be approved by the Augusta USBC Bowling Association Board of Directors and be in good standing in all leagues in which they participate. A. Bowler-of-the-Year: The Augusta USBC Bowling Association "Bowler of the Year" and "Senior Bowler of the Year" awards will be presented to the bowlers with the highest composite average. The Bowlers of the Year will be presented a suitable and appropriate award during the awards ceremony at the Annual USBC Augusta Bowling and Women's Bowling Associations banquet. B. All Stars: There will be two types of All Star teams; one is the regular All Star team based upon average only and the second is a senior only All Star team based upon age and average. Up to two teams may be selected for each All Star tournament. (1) Eligibility will be based on: (a) The composite winter average of ALL games bowled (minimum of 150 games) taken from final average sheets submitted to the AUSBCBA Association Manager for the previously completed winter league schedule. (b) Average ties will be broken by the total number of games bowled by each bowler (most games will be selected over fewer games). (c) Participation in the Association's annual tournaments which will include, at a minimum, the annual association tournament and/or the annual senior's singles/doubles tournament, as appropriate for the All Star category. 2. The AUSBCBA All Star committee will meet with the eligible members and ensure they are aware of the requirements and obligations incurred if selected to the All Star team. If possible, the All Star committee will obtain a commitment from the eligible members that if selected they will participate in the All Star tournament and meet any obligations incurred by their selection. 3. Selection/approval process to be conducted in the following manner for each team: A. Candidates with the top 12 composite averages will be discussed as to their sportsmanship, lane conduct, etc. prior to voting. A simple majority will approve an All Star selection. Then only those twelve will be voted upon for approval or disapproval to the ABA All Star team. Only those selected and approved may participate as an Augusta All Star.

6 B. If one or more of the first 12 candidates are NOT approved or not able to participate, then candidates 13 on down, in order, will be considered one by one until the 12-man squad is filled. Candidates will remain in average order, with #1 through #6 comprising the first team and #7 through #12 comprising the second team. The captains of each team will be selected by the AUSBCBA Board of Directors. C. Card carrying professional bowlers will not be considered for selection to either All Star team. These bowlers will not become eligible until two years after they are no longer members of any professional bowling association. D. If a bowler selected as an All Star doesn't participate as required after being selected (without a valid reason or notifying the committee in time to get a replacement), this will be taken into consideration in future selection processes. 4. The bowlers selected for first time to the All Star teams will receive an AUSBCBA All Star team bowling shirt with appropriate lettering in recognition of their selection. Repeat selections will receive an update of their initial issued shirts (i.e. addition of an additional year indication on the shirt). 5. The All Star teams are encouraged to hold fund raising events and all such monies raised turned over to the Association Manager and designated for expenses related to the All Star events including entry fees, or part thereof, shirts, and other expenses at the discretion of the AUSBCBA Board of Directors. In the event that these funds are not sufficient to pay for the entry fee, the All Star bowlers may be required to pay up to 50% of the entry fee. 6. Supplemental All Star teams to be entered into the State All Star tournament must have the expressed approval of the Augusta USBC Bowling Association Board of Directors. These supplemental All Star team members will be required to meet all conditions set forth in the previous sections of these rules and guidelines. All fees of supplemental team members shall be either personal investment or come from the All Star fund with the approval of the AUSBCBA Board of Directors.
